Job vacancy announcements and interviews must not contain any form of discrimination, including those based on gender, disability, age, marital status, or other factors.

Additionally, these regulations stress the need to obtain proper licenses for job fairs or public job invitations held outside workplace premises. Such events must be coordinated through the Saudi Conventions and Exhibitions General Authority, in line with governing rules.
Compliance with professional standards
The ministry requires that advertised job roles align with the professions listed in the Saudi Standard Classification of Occupations. Job postings must be made through approved digital platforms, the company's website, official social media accounts, or licensed job fairs.
Job advertisement guidelines
Key provisions of the regulations stipulate that job advertisements must include:
A brief description of the company, including its name, business activity, headquarters, and work location.
A clear description of the job vacancy, including the job title, responsibilities, required qualifications, and skills.
Years of experience required, application procedures, working hours, job nature, benefits, and the application deadline.
An electronic method for receiving job applications.
Employers must notify each applicant of the interview format (in-person, remote, or phone), date, and expected time at least three working days in advance.
Interview venues—whether inside or outside the facility—must be suitable for the number of applicants. They must be in visible, accessible locations with sufficient seating and desks, comply with occupational health and safety standards, and have security systems or guards, gender-specific restrooms, and drinking water.
Accommodations for persons with disabilities
For applicants with disabilities, employers must provide appropriate communication tools and ensure accessibility throughout the interview location. A job interview committee must be formed, comprising at least two Saudi individuals, including one human resources specialist. The committee may consult non-Saudi experts if necessary, provided they do not exceed half the committee's members.
Restrictions on interview questions
The regulations prohibit interviewers from asking about personal freedoms or confidential details about previous employment. All interview outcomes must be documented for future reference.
Communicating interview results
Applicants must be informed of interview results through official channels within 30 days of the interview. If an applicant is not selected, the reasons must be communicated.

UAE approves criteria for Emirati students pursuing higher studies in foreign universities
In line with the UAE's strategic direction to enhance the quality and outcomes of higher education and human development, and to align its outcomes with national development goals and market needs, the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council (EHCD) has approved a set of criteria for Emirati students who wish to pursue their higher education outside the UAE. The criteria aim to enhance student's competence and readiness to enter the job market, and to regulate international scholarship options in accordance with the UAE's aspirations, national plans, priority sectors, and future developments, thereby supporting the optimal investment in Emirati talents. Through this initiative, the Council aims to empower students to make well-informed decisions based on clear criteria that ensures the quality of selected programs and academic institutions. It also seeks to enhance the value of the qualifications they obtain, supporting their future career opportunities both within the UAE and abroad. These criteria are derived from a clear vision to elevate the higher education experience abroad, by guiding students toward accredited and high-quality academic institutions and specializations. Students wishing to enroll in a higher education institution outside the UAE, whether at their own expense or through a sponsoring entity, are required to study at institutions recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in accordance with the following approved classifications and standards: 1. The institution must be ranked among the top 50 universities worldwide in the intended field of study, regardless of overall ranking or country, according to the Ministry's approved international rankings. 2. If studying in the United States or Australia, the institution must be ranked among the world's top 100 universities in the intended field of study, and among the top 100 universities overall, according to the Ministry's approved international rankings. 3. If studying in any other English-speaking country (excluding the USA and Australia), the institution must be ranked among the world's top 200 universities in the intended field and among the top 200 universities overall, according to the Ministry's approved international rankings 4. If studying in a non-English-speaking country, the institution must be ranked among the world's top 300 universities in the intended field and among the top 300 universities overall, according to the Ministry's approved international rankings. The Council emphasised the importance of adhering to the specified criteria to avoid non-recognition of qualifications obtained abroad. Non-compliance may result in these qualifications not being acknowledged for purposes such as employment, promotion, study leave, exam leave, thesis discussion, or eligibility for qualification-related benefits within the federal government sector in the UAE. To ensure a transparent and a balanced approach, taking into account special cases, Emirati students who are currently pursuing their studies abroad, whether self-funded or sponsored by a scholarship entity, will be granted a one-year grace period from the effective date of this decision to adjust their academic status. A specialised committee, chaired by the General Secretariat of the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council has been established to review exemption requests. The committee will assess these requests based on precise criteria that consider the nature of the specialization, the academic institution, and the individual circumstances of each case, to support the students' best interests and enhance their educational and career opportunities. The Council also instructs the students and the relevant parties to communicate directly with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for inquiries related to the approved criteria and the process for submitting exemption requests. This mechanism is part of a broader set of policies and initiatives being developed by the Education, Human Development and Community Development Council in coordination with relevant entities. These efforts are designed to enhance the quality of higher education, strengthen accreditation recognition system, and support Emirati students both within and outside the UAE. Such initiatives contribute to empowering Emirati talents, developing human capital, and nurturing generations equipped with the skills, capabilities, and knowledge that align with the UAE's aspirations and reflects its vision for the future. Brussels' Procurement Clampdown Sparks Trade Tensions with Beijing
The European Union has enacted measures to restrict Chinese medical device manufacturers from participating in large-scale public procurement contracts, citing systematic discrimination against European suppliers in China's domestic market. This decision marks the first use of the EU's International Procurement Instrument , a mechanism designed to enforce reciprocal access to public tenders. Under the new directive, Chinese firms are barred from bidding on EU public contracts exceeding €5 million for a duration of five years. The European Commission's investigation revealed that 87% of Chinese procurement tenders contained explicit or implicit barriers against foreign medical devices. These barriers include complex certification requirements, opaque approval processes, and pricing structures that disadvantage non-domestic suppliers. The Commission's findings highlighted China's 'Buy China' policy and the 'Made in China 2025' strategy as central to these discriminatory practices. These initiatives aim to increase the share of domestically produced medical devices in Chinese hospitals, with targets set at 70% by 2025. Such policies have led to a significant reduction in the approval of imported medical devices in various provinces, notably in Guangdong, where approved imports dropped from 132 in 2019 to 46 in 2021. While the EU maintains that its actions are proportionate and aimed at restoring fair competition, it remains open to dialogue to address the underlying issues. The implementation of the IPI reflects the EU's commitment to enforcing fair trade practices and ensuring that European companies have equitable access to global markets. However, the move also underscores the growing complexities in EU-China trade relations, particularly as both parties navigate the challenges of balancing domestic interests with international obligations.
