Cambria County man caught with child porn during probation
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Nanty Glo man is facing charges after he was allegedly found to have child pornography on his cellphone when probation officers were conducting a visit.
Latham Cohoon, 35, is facing charges of possession of child sex abuse material after a routine home visit led to the discovery of child porn, according to a criminal complaint. On May 2, the Cambria County Probation arrived at a home on Johnson Street in the Nanty Glo Borough for a routine visit with Cohoon.
According to Pennsylvania's Megan's Law website, Cohoon was charged and convicted in 2021 with crimes against children. In March of 2023, he was charged with possession of child pornography, and in April, he was charged with sexual abuse of children.

Cohoon answered the door for officers and allowed them into his home. He also allegedly allowed them to look around his house. According to the affidavit, a probation officer asked Cohoon if he had a cell phone, and he initially told them that it was at his sister's house. Then he admitted that it was in the house and showed it to the police.
When the probation officer asked him if there was anything on it, he allegedly stated, 'You know what's on the phone.' Police asked him if child pornography was going to be on the phone, and he stated 'There was,' according to the complaint.
Cohoon gave police permission to search the phone, and 'numerous images consistent with child pornography' were found. The cell phone was seized and placed into evidence.
Cohoon is set to be arraigned in the near future and is facing felony charges of disseminating photos/film of child sex acts, possessing child sexual abuse material and criminal use of a communication facility.

Woman shaken up after Virginia Beach townhome shooting
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. (wavy) — Shana Turner, who is in preparation to move out of her College Square home, was sleeping on a cot Thursday night when someone opened fire on a row of townhomes. Once she heard bullets, she was crawling to exit out of the room she was asleep in. 'It came out through [one] wall to [another] wall and I have pictures to where the bullet was lodged at,' said Turner. There is damage to the exterior of her home and at least five other units that face Level Green Boulevard. Turner admitted she would not feel comfortable sleeping in her neighborhood following the shooting. 'I suffer from severe anxiety, depression and PTSD. This has triggered my PTSD. I felt like I was in a war zone. I never did combat, but PTSD is real,' said Turner. The incident resonated deeply with Turner for two additional reasons. 'Losing my son to senseless violence in 2017; the second reason because we are losing too many of our generations, our young people are killing each other.' said Turner. In an effort to take back the community, Turner has an organization, HR M.A.S.K., that holds public events. For instance, she sponsored a basketball tournament last weekend where attendees were encouraged to wear orange, which is the color that represents efforts to curb gun violence. NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A Waterbury woman pleaded guilty on Friday to stealing approximately $360,000 through fraud schemes across companies in Connecticut and New York. 'Get out of jail free card': Kent Mawhinney accepts plea deal in Jennifer Farber Dulos case Marlenin Vito, 46, allegedly stole nearly $310,820 in about 500 fraudulent checks while working as a Medicaid coordinator in Stamford, according to court documents. During her time at the company, she was responsible for helping nursing home residents apply for Medicaid reimbursements, handling patient trust accounts and payments made on behalf of residents. 'Many of the residents were not healthy enough or mentally capable of tracking their own expenses or monitoring the balances of their own trust accounts,' a press release from the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut said. Vito kept COVID-19 stimulus payments and cancelled some residents' health insurance coverage to keep the money for herself, according to the press release. She was fired from the company.
