Indian automotive industry veteran and Chairman of Sona Comstar, Sunjay Kapur, passed away on Thursday. He was 53 years old. He was best known to many as the former husband of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor. The couple had two children together: daughter Samaira, born in 2005, and son Kiaan, born in 2011. They filed for divorce by mutual consent in 2014, which was finalized in 2016.
Sanjay is the son of Surinder Kapur and Rani Kapur. He took over management of his father's business in 2003, and following his father's death in 2015, he was left to handle it entirely on his own. Sanjay had two sisters, Mandira Kapur and Suparna Motwane. Speculation is rife that following Sanjay Kapur's untimely demise, ownership of his business may pass to his two sisters. For context, Kapur was the owner of Sona Comstar, a leading name in the Indian automotive sector, with a market capitalization estimated at Rs 31,000 crore, according to Bloomberg.
As far as Sunjay Kapur's personal life is concerned, he was married first to Nandita Mahtani. Their marriage lasted four years before they got divorced. The couple had no children. Later, he married the Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor. They got divorced, and he subsequently married actress and model Priya Sachdev, who was previously married to hotelier Vikram Chatwal. Priya Sachdev was a mother from her previous marriage, having a daughter from their marriage. After marrying Sanjay, she gave birth to a son, Azarius.
As such, Sanjay had responsibility for a total of four children: Samaira, Kiaan, Safira, and Azarius. Priya Sachdev and the four children represented his family, and they used to enjoy festivals together. Now that he has passed unexpectedly, the whole family business is reportedly going to be managed by Priya Sachdev. Sanjay Kapur was estimated to have over Rs 12,000 crore of assets under management, which must be quite a business for someone taking over.
In 2017, model and actress Priya Sachdev entered Sanjay Kapur's life. She was previously divorced and had a daughter named Safira Chatwal from her first marriage. After marrying Sanjay, the couple welcomed a son, Azarius. This brought the total number of children under Sanjay's care to four—Samaira, Kiaan, Safira, and Azarius. Priya and these four children made up his close-knit family. Sanjay Kapur reportedly owned assets worth over Rs 12,000 crore, and managing such a vast empire could now become a significant challenge.

FM Sitharaman, who is on a four-day visit to Ladakh, also interacted with beneficiaries and bank officials during the programme. Her visit comes at a time when the government is increasing its focus on financial inclusion in aspirational and border regions. Through these initiatives, the government aims to promote local entrepreneurship, generate employment, and ensure equitable access to formal credit systems. Earlier in the day, the Finance Minister visited an exhibition in Leh featuring local handicrafts, handloom products, and sustainable innovations developed by women-led self-help groups (SHGs) and small entrepreneurs. She praised their creativity and the role they play in preserving Ladakh's cultural heritage, while also contributing to rural economic development. The Centre's flagship schemes, like the PM Mudra Yojana and DAY-NRLM, have played a key role in driving financial inclusion across India. Under the PMMY alone, over 52 crore loans worth Rs 32.61 lakh crore have been sanctioned since its launch, with nearly 70 per cent of the beneficiaries being women entrepreneurs. The scheme's emphasis on collateral-free credit has enabled small business owners, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, to become financially independent. The Finance Minister was also scheduled to meet with officials from the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) and the Union Territory administration, and inaugurate various developmental projects during her visit.

The compact SUV segment is one of the most in-demand categories in the Indian passenger vehicle market, but despite being present in the space, Citroen C3 is yet to capture a sizeable market share. The French auto giant is aiming to grab a chunk of the market pie with the upcoming special edition model. Speaking of the design and feature updates expected in the special edition model, the upcoming version of the Citroen C3 will come with a rally-inspired body decal and an interior theme. The seats of the SUV will receive red accents and 'Sport' badges. Adding more zing inside the cabin with new ambient lights, a wireless phone charger, and a dashcam. Besides that, other features will include accented air conditioning knobs, auto-fold ORVMs, automatic climate control, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7.0-inch instrument cluster, four-speaker audio system, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, which are already available in the existing model. While the exterior and interior of the Citroen C3 Sport Edition will have a host of changes, mechanically, it will come unchanged. In that case, expect the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine to work under the hood of the Citroen C3 Sport Edition. This engine is capable of churning out 108.6 bhp peak power and 205 Nm of maximum torque. The transmission duty onboard the special edition would be done by a six-speed automatic gearbox. Expect the SUV to come with standard safety features including six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX mounts, tri-point seat belts, engine immobiliser, ESP, speed-sensing door lock, hill hold, TPMS, and a rear-view camera. Speaking of the price, the special edition will likely command a premium of ₹ 30,000 over the existing range-topping variant of the Citroen C3.
