At Sean 'Diddy' Combs' Trial, Three Witnesses Take the Stand and Confirm Details From Ex Cassie Ventura's Testimony
Three witnesses took the stand at Sean 'Diddy' Combs' sex trafficking and racketeering trial in Manhattan on Monday, all of whom backed up or confirmed details around physical and emotional abuse the defendant allegedly inflicted on his ex-girlfriend of a decade, Cassie Ventura, who detailed her time with the beleaguered rap mogul in court from the stand.
The singer was part of the girl group Danity Kane and Combs-led trio Diddy-Dirty Money for three years until he ended the project in 2012. Danity Kane was formed as part of the Combs-led MTV reality series Making the Band; the show features Combs frequently doling out orders and demands of the singers in Danity Kane that veered into insults and abuse.

Richard filed a lawsuit in September against Combs, accusing him of physical and sexual abuse. On Friday, she told the court she saw him beat Ventura in 2009 with a skillet full of eggs, put his arm around her neck and drag her by her hair upstairs at his Los Angeles home. After the alleged incident, Richard testified that Combs warned her, 'if we said anything, we could go missing' and that 'we could die.' Those who found themselves in Combs' inner orbit were told to keep 'out of my relationship or else we would pay for it, or else something bad would happen to you,' Richard said from the stand.
Prosecutors are using Richard's testimony from Friday and what she told the court Monday to show a pattern in Combs' behavior but also to back up Ventura's testimony about the abuse she suffered at Combs' hands for a decade. From the stand, Richard confirmed she was a witness to multiple instances of this violence, which the jury spent last week hearing about firsthand and seeing on hotel surveillance footage.
'Frequently, he would punch her, choke her, slap her in the mouth, kick her, punch her in the stomach,' Richard told the Manhattan courtroom. 'It could be because Cassie was speaking up for herself. It could be random. It could be if she had an opinion for herself. She would be quiet and when she had these moments of trying to stick up for herself, he would hurt her for it.'
The defense's strategy was to poke holes in Richard's testimony and highlight inconsistencies in her accounts of her time around Combs, including the skillet incident and how frequently she saw Combs carrying a firearm; from the stand, Richard admitted that her account of these incidents and what she saw has changed over time but added that over time, she's recollected more details. Defense attorney Nicole Westmoreland pointed out to Richard that she'd claimed in an interview that Combs said at the time, 'this was a love thing,' and that 'people going missing' was never mentioned at the time.
'Iit was a hard time, a bad time for me,' she later explained when asked about recalling incidents from the time period years later. 'It did not all come back immediately. … The environment was traumatizing, so I tried to erase those things from my memory.'
In her testimony, Richard also told the court that there were times while she was in Combs' professional inner circle that she saw him with guns and illegal drugs. On cross-examination, Westmoreland asked Richard why she never mentioned these alleged guns during the eight meetings she had with prosecutors. Richard told the defense attorney: 'It wasn't asked.'
With Combs playing the role of boyfriend and boss at her label, Bad Boy Records; Venrura was subjected to delay after delay in recording new material and ultimately never saw her career get off of the ground, Richard testified.
'He said it would be on his terms. It was always wait, wait, wait. She had to wait for her turn, sometimes it was just wait your turn, other times it was violent or volatile,' she said.
Richard also told the court that a number of Combs' employees witnessed his violence against Ventura; no one ever stepped in to stop it, she said, which federal prosecutors allege involved coercive control, manipulation, blackmail, drug use, marathon sex sessions and trafficking. Combs pleaded not guilty to multiple counts detailed in a federal indictment involving sex trafficking and racketeering; he continues to deny all allegations against him.
Richard said she was not expecting compensation for her testimony. but is hoping to right a wrong. 'I'm expecting justice,' she said. Combs' attorney said the mogul was 'shocked and disappointed' by Richard's lawsuit.
Richard admitted she tried to work with Combs again despite all her allegations. Richard said: 'I want justice and to be made whole.'
And when Westmoreland asked if that meant being paid money, Richard answered, 'Yes.'
Following Richard's testimony, Kerry Morgan, whom Ventura described as her former best friend of 20 years but whom she'd grown estranged from since a violent incident involving Combs, was called to the witness stand. Upon taking the stand, Morgan expressed to the court that she was there under subpoena and did not wish to testify.
While questioned by the prosecution, Morgan described multiple incidents of Combs inflicting violence on her former friend and one time when she told the court he laid his hands on her too. One particularly harrowing incident Morgan described happened when she was with the couple in Jamaica on a vacation. Combs assaulted Ventura after she took too long using the bathroom; Morgan described the noises she then heard coming from her friend at the time.
'It was guttural, terrifying. I heard her screaming so I went to the long hallway, they were coming out of the master bedroom and he was dragging her by her hair,' she told the courtroom. Ventura was then thrown to the ground, hitting her head on a brick, and the two fled the scene in a golf cart and hid in a ditch on the nearby course as Combs stalked them for hours, she said.
The fevered jealousy in Combs' and Ventura's relationship was confirmed on the stand by Morgan, who by her account had a front-row seat to the majority of the years they were together. Ventura was jealous of Combs' ex-wife Kim Porter, with whom he had kids and would spend holidays, casting Ventura aside on those important days. And the mogul grew jealous of Michael B. Jordan when Ventura began speaking with the Sinners star while she was filming a movie out of town. On the stand last week, Ventura told the court that she and Combs split while she was in South Africa for a few weeks filming a movie; during that time, she spoke with the actor, she said, and it drove Combs to become jealous.
Morgan and Ventura were in the singer's apartment listening to music in 2018 when she was attacked by three rap moguls, she told the court, with Combs grabbing her by the neck and hitting her with a wooden hanger.
'He came up behind me and choked me and left finger marks on my neck and hit me in the head with a wooden hanger,' she told the court, adding that Combs was saying something about cheating at the time of the attack. 'Cassie was in the bathroom. It hit me behind my right ear.'
Ventura grabbed some things and the two women fled the apartment, Morgan said, telling the court how they then went to a local urgent care to check if she was concussed, as Morgan explained she was dizzy and she'd 'vomited a few times' after the alleged assault. Morgan told the court that she hired a lawyer but never filed a lawsuit against Combs; she signed a nondisclosure agreement about the incident and was given $30,000 by Combs. The incident, and Ventura's reaction to it, ended their long-term friendship, she testified.
'The reason I stopped speaking to her was because she was not supportive of me after that incident. I draw my line at physical abuse,' Morgan said, later telling the jury, 'We haven't spoken since. The last time I spoke to Sean was the night of the assault and the last time I saw Cassie was when I signed the NDA.'
Monday's final witness was a former assistant to Combs, Sean James, who detailed to the court how security surrounding Combs always carried guns and when he inquired about it, he said he was told to 'stay in your lane.' He grew emotional on the stand, and described how an executive directed him to a picture of the wealthy mogul on the wall, whose caption read: 'This is Mr. Combs' kingdom and we are all here to serve in it.''
James also repeated part of a conversation he says he had with Ventura about Combs and their relationship: 'He controls my career, pays my allowance, and pays my rent,' she said, according to his testimony.
James is set to return Tuesday for another hour of questioning before cross-examination.

Diddy's ex's testimony could provide powerful corroboration to allegations in sex crimes trial: expert
Sean "Diddy" Combs' ex-girlfriend took the stand Monday and testified for the third day in the rapper's federal trial for sex crimes. His ex, who testified under the pseudonym "Jane," told prosecutors that there were times she felt coerced into hotel nights with Diddy and that the Bad Boy Records founder still pays for both her legal fees and rent. Jane recalled alleged instances of abuse while dating Diddy on and off for three years and up until the week before he was arrested in New York City on federal charges. Jennifer Beidel, a former assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of New York who now practices at Dykema, told Fox News Digital that Jane's testimony may be "powerful" to the jury. "Jane Doe commented on the consistency between her experience and that of Cassie Ventura after she read Ventura's civil lawsuit," Beidel said. "If the jury also finds the two women's experiences similar, Jane Doe's testimony becomes powerful corroboration of Ventura's testimony. Adding in the voice memos could lend even more credence to the two women's accounts, as those voice memos are evidence of Mr. Combs' views at the time in his own words." Jane told the court that Diddy asked her about coercion after he allegedly forced her to take drugs before having sex with a male escort. She testified about Diddy's alleged violent behavior and said he once put her in a chokehold after kicking and punching her. The jury was shown video evidence of Jane's injuries, which included a bruised eye and welts on her forehead. Texts shown in federal court on Monday between Diddy and Jane revealed that she felt manipulated and wanted monetary income. The rapper allegedly texted Jane back, "F--- you." Jane allegedly told Diddy, "You're the only opportunist ... you had three years of fun with my body ... you were a full time job and consumed my life." The "Last Night" rapper allegedly texted back that he was blocking Jane's number and also calling the police. "You conned me into sucking d--- for you," Jane allegedly texted. After several texts, she wrote, "I'm going to kill myself." "Early in the trial, the prosecutors introduced extensive evidence to support their theory that Combs used violence and threats of violence to coerce Ventura into engaging in sexual activity," former federal prosecutor Mark Chutkow told Fox News Digital. "However, the prosecution's evidence of Jane Doe's alleged coercion centers more on emotional manipulation than violence. That could prove to be a weakness for the prosecution case because Jane's evidence was introduced later in the trial, closer to when the jurors will deliberate." Mark Chuktow, who now practices at Dykema, added, "As a result, it might dilute the impact of Ventura's earlier testimony because Jane's evidence is less clear-cut regarding whether Combs coerced her to engage in sexual activity. To counter this, the prosecutors might put more weight in closing arguments on the evidence that Combs blackmailed both women into complying with his sexual demands through threats of destroying their reputations and careers by publicly exposing the video recordings of their participation in the freak-offs. "Blackmail like this might resonate more with the jury than Combs' emotional manipulation of Jane when deciding whether or not the victims consented to the sexual activity." In court, Jane testified that after fleeing from the "All About the Benjamins" rapper during an alleged violent encounter, she returned to the home and claimed she was on the patio when she allegedly punched Diddy around his temple on his forehead. He allegedly retaliated by punching Jane in the head twice in the forehead and eye area. She told the court she retreated to a deep part of the backyard, fell and curled up in a ball to cover her head and face while Diddy allegedly continued to punch and kick her. He allegedly said Jane was trying to take him away from his kids and family. Diddy then allegedly grabbed Jane by the hair and her arm and dragged her back into the house, saying she was "f---ing crazy." She claimed to keep asking him to leave. "Jane's testimony is more of the same in regards to the defendant's conduct, and it certainly does not paint a good picture of Mr. Combs," Los Angeles litigator John J. Perlstein told Fox News Digital. "It is hard to say whether or not the jury is numb to it all. However, they are unlikely to be shocked by Jane's testimony given what everyone else has said thus far. "This trial is a lengthy process for jurors, and recordings and videos of the testimonies typically fare better than readings." Jane also testified to being with Diddy when she saw the video of the rapper assaulting Cassie Ventura at the InterContinental Hotel in 2016. Diddy was with his friends and family in May 2024 when she was invited to a "huddle," where she remembered the group trying to come up with a form of a sincere apology post regarding the video. She told the court that she never heard the "Victory" rapper deny he was the one in the video assaulting Cassie. Jane testified that Diddy showed her a final draft of what he would say, and she understood he would post it on social media. She said she thought the message was heartfelt. Jane claimed they eventually talked about the video in June or July 2024. Diddy allegedly told her that was the only time he and Cassie had physical violence. Diddy allegedly told Jane that Cassie "was a hitter." WATCH: SEAN 'DIDDY' COMBS ASSAULTS CASSIE VENTURA IN 2016 HOTEL INCIDENT Attorney Christopher Melche told Fox News Digital, "Jane testified about horrific acts of abuse in the relationship similar to what Cassie experienced, but what was unique about her testimony today is that Jane is still having her rent paid for by Diddy to this very day, and they continued their relationship right up to the time that he was arrested, so I'm not sure how the jury is going to reconcile all of these horrible things that happened to her and how her rent is being paid and accepted right 'til now." In a federal indictment unsealed on Sept. 17, Diddy was charged with racketeering conspiracy (RICO); sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution. If found guilty, he faces a minimum of 15 years behind bars or a maximum sentence of life in prison. He has maintained his innocence throughout the trial, where witnesses have testified to alleged rape, sexual assault, severe physical abuse, forced labor and drug trafficking. The trial is expected to wrap up by July 4.

Diddy Was Having Freak-Offs Right Up Until He Was Arrested And More From Trial's Fifth Week
Source: Penske Media / Getty In order to have drug-filled 'freak-offs' someone had to bring drugs from city to city and according to Jane Doe in the trial of Bad Boy records founder Sean 'Diddy' Combs that job repeatedly fell on her. According to Deadline, 'Jane,' a pseudonym used to hide her identity, claims that she and others in the rap mogul's inner circle were required to transport Ecstasy and more, which was used for drug-fueled sex sessions. 'I just asked her if this was safe and okay,' Combs' ex-girlfriend, said to reported Diddy top aide Kristina Khorram about taking a bag of drugs from LA to Miami. This was Jane's second day on the stand, and Jane noted that 'KK' replied, 'It's fine, I do it all the time, just put it in your checked-in luggage.' During what Deadline noted was a 'sometimes-tear-filled testimony,' Janed added that she was required to carry Ecstasy across state lines for Diddy. She confirmed earlier testimony from Diddy's ex, Cassie Ventura, that the pills and cocaine were used during marathon 'freak-off' sex sessions with male escorts. Jane also claimed that Combs would use 'personal assistants and security details to procure more when his current stash ran out for the often filmed 'freak-offs,' Deadline reports. All of it, Jane claimed, took a toll on her as she noted that she unsuccessfully begged Combs to have the male escorts wear condoms during what could be days-long 'freak-offs.' Jane told Assistant U.S. Attorney Maurene Comey, that she feared with the crazy amount of drug use that things could get violent. Diddy, she claimed, was dismissive of all of her concerns. Jane and Diddy had been in an ongoing situationship since 2021. Jane, who described herself as an online influencer and single mother, noted that Diddy was nice during the courting part of their relationship, even offering to pay for her house and supplement her income. But, as Cassie and others claimed, these were all merely controlling tactics to make the women dependent on him. 'Again, like he did with Ventura and others, as the prosecution clearly intends to convey to the jury, a sometimes semen-smeared Combs used the same M.O. of drugs, blackmail, fear and violence to make a baby oiled up, lingerie and high-heels wearing 'Jane' participate in the 'freak-offs,' Deadline reports. Jane told the jury that in September 2023, she sent a text to Combs noting her distress over participating in 'freak-offs' and having forced sex with paid men. 'It's hurting me,' she told Combs, 'It's dark, sleazy, and makes me feel disgusted with myself.' The text added: 'I don't want to play this role anymore. I'm so much more than this …I feel like it's the only reason you have me around and pay for the house.' 'Girl, stop,' Combs reportedly replied. Jane said that the 'freak-offs' initially ran from May 2021 to October 2023, usually taking place at upscale hotels, and then stopped for about three months. Then Cassie filed her lawsuit alleging abuse and assault, which was quickly settled out of court. CNN released the footage of Diddy beating Cassie in a hotel hallway, and then, just a month later, the 'freak-offs' reportedly picked back up at Diddy's Florida home. There were five alleged sessions, and the last one reportedly occurred just a few weeks before Diddy was arrested. The 55-year-old rapper/producer/media mogul, who was once known for 'being all up in the videos,' has been on trial in New York City since May 12. If found guilty of federal charges, which include racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution, he could face life in prison.
