Muslim, Christian cemetery lands reclaimed in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Thursday cleared encroachments from Muslim and Christian cemetery lands in Parvathapur, under Peerzadiguda municipal corporation limits in Medchal-Malkajgiri district.
The action followed complaints raised in the Prajavani programme by members of the cemetery protection committee, alleging that the decades-old government cemetery was being encroached upon, converted into plots and sold.
HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath reviewed satellite images, revenue records and conducted a field inspection before ordering the demolition of the foundations of 15 residential plots, two-metre-high fences, sheds and a few shops.
Officials said the encroachments took place during the Covid-19 lockdown. Locals alleged that one Sukhender Reddy led the encroachment by using fake survey numbers and securing unauthorised permissions. He allegedly covered existing graves with soil to conceal them and sold the plots, despite the land being under dispute. His private land is in Survey No. 12, while the cemetery stands on adjacent government land in Survey No. 1.
They added that Sukhender is accused of colluding with former Peerzadiguda mayor Jakka Venkat Reddy and former co-option member Jagadishwar Reddy.

Has Khaby Lame been deported? ICE issues statement on Las Vegas arrest
Social media influencer Khabane 'Khaby' Lame was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Nevada on Friday over alleged immigration violations. ICE confirmed the incident in a statement to Men's Journal, noting that Lame was later granted 'voluntary departure' and has since left the country. Political activist Bo Loudon was the first to share the news publicly, claiming in a post on X (formerly Twitter) that Lame had been arrested in Las Vegas and was being held at the Henderson Detention Center. 'President Trump's ICE just officially arrested far-left TikToker, Khaby Lame, whom I reported as an illegal alien. According to the official DHS website, he's currently being held at the Henderson Detention Center and is in ICE CUSTODY,' Loudon wrote on X on Friday. In a follow-up post, Loudon wrote, 'Meet far-left TikTok star 'Khaby Lame.' He's an ILLEGAL ALIEN! I've been working with the patriots at President Trump's DHS to make this happen. He was just ARRESTED in Vegas and is in ICE CUSTODY! To verify, go to ICE's Locator, type the A-number, and Senegal as country." Loudon also shared what he claimed was a screenshot from ICE's online detainee locator tool, listing Lame as in custody. However, confusion spread online after Lame appeared active on social media. He posted multiple times on both his Instagram Story and TikTok page following the reports, leading fans to question the authenticity of the claims. Despite this, ICE confirmed the detention in a formal statement to Men's Journal. Following ICE's confirmation, Loudon posted again: "President Trump's ICE just announced the largest TikTok user, ILLEGAL ALIEN Khaby Lame, has "departed" the U.S. after being taken into custody. No one works faster than President Trump's administration." Loudon also shared a screenshot of an email allegedly from an ICE spokesperson. The mail stated: "U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained Seringe Khabane Lame, 25, a citizen of Italy, June 6, at the Harry Reid International Airport, Las Vegas, Nevada for immigration violations. Lame entered the United States April 30 and overstayed the terms of his visa. Lame was granted voluntary departure June 6 and has since departed the U.S.' Also Read: Paramount ICE raids: What is happening near Home Depot and why are people getting arrested? Urs at Vishalgad to be a low-key affair due to administrative orders
Kolhapur: In response to the current sensitive situation, the state archaeological department's director has prohibited the Urs at Vishalgad through orders issued late on Friday night, citing the fort's status as a state-protected monument. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The Shahuwadi tehsildar has additionally implemented prohibitory orders from June 1 to 15, under section 163 of the Indian Civil Code, 2023. Visitors may access the fort only between 9am and 5pm, with no overnight stays permitted. However, Imran Abdulgani Mujawar, a trustee of the Hazrat Peer Malik Rehan dargah at Vishalgad, said, "The Urs at Vishalgad, a symbol of unity of all religions, will be held from June 8 to 10 following the orders issued by the high court. A large number of Hindu and Muslim devotees from Maharashtra and Karnataka attend this Urs every time. This time, the celebration will be a low-key affair following all the terms and conditions imposed by the court and by the administration. " The Bombay high court's permission via writ petition number 7121/2023, granted on June 3, 2025, specifies guidelines for animal sacrifice between June 8 and 12 in designated private areas. The gram panchayat administration has established procedures according to the assistant commissioner of animal husbandry's written directives, which have been conveyed to the dargah trustees. The district administration has heightened security measures at Vishalgad following warnings from Hindutva organisations about disrupting the Urs. Inspector Vijay Gherde, of Shahuwadi, said, "Following the court orders, traditional rituals of the Urs will be held at the fort by the dargah trustees in a low-key manner. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Outside citizens and tourists will be allowed to visit the fort only between 9am and 5pm. No outsider will be allowed to stay at the fort after 5pm. Strict action will be taken against anyone who violates the rules or the court orders." The Urs celebrations at Vishalgad take place biannually, during Bakrid and in Jan. Devotees are drawn to witness what they believe is the miraculous automatic opening of the dargah door each night, which typically draws large processions.

Bajrang Dal warns protest in Karnataka
Mangaluru: Bajrang Dal zonal coordinator Prabhanjan Soorya said that a statewide protest will be organised if police book Hindutva activist Bharath Kumdelu in the murder case of Abdul Rahiman. Addressing media persons here on Saturday, Soorya accused the govt of misusing police in connection with the murder case of Abdul Rahiman. "Efforts are being made to fix Bharath Kumdelu in the murder of Rahiman from Kolthamajal. The govt is targeting Hindutva organisation leaders and activists through fabricated evidence in the murder investigation, due to pressure from Muslim groups, by misusing the police department. The Bajrang Dal condemns this very strongly," he said. The Congress govt once planned to ban Bajrang Dal to ensure votes of Muslims during the election. Further, the govt has been trying to bring a bad reputation to the organisation by filing false cases against activists and leaders. In the coastal district, the govt continued its agenda by adding the names of Bajrang Dal leaders to the list of rowdy-sheeters and goonda elements, he said. "Bajrang Dal is a nationalist organisation engaged in hundreds of activities including the protection of cows, women, children, and other initiatives. If Kumdelu's name is included in the case, we will hold protests in all district headquarters and villages," he warned. Police visiting Hindu activists at midnight is an effort to suppress the organisation. He condemned police search at Kumdelu's house. Further, he urged police to find the actual reason behind the murder of Abdul Rahiman to ascertain whether he was killed because of personal enmity. Bajrang Dal leaders Bhujanga Kulal and Puneeth Attavar were present.
