Kevin Durant reportedly has 1 trade destination he 'specifically' wants
The Phoenix Suns are expected to trade Kevin Durant sooner rather than later and as of right now, there is a reported favorite for where he may go.
There were five NBA teams potentially in the running for Durant, per ESPN's Shams Charania. It was the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Miami Heat, and New York Knicks.

But among that list, Durant had just three preferred destinations: The Heat, Rockets, and Spurs.
While the Suns have no obligation to trade him to one of those three teams, Durant is about to enter the final year of his contract. That means any team that trades for Durant would likely want to re-sign him, and if they do not feel it is possible, they may offer a less enticing return package.
More: Kevin Durant's journeyman career is kinda sad
While ESPN's Brian Windhorst reported nearly six weeks ago that the Rockets and Spurs were specifically two teams worth watching for Durant, the market is becoming increasingly narrow.

The Rockets have reportedly made a "firm offer" for Durant, per Kelly Iko of The Athletic, but the Suns are "seriously underwhelmed" about it.
That is advantageous for the Spurs, which is conveniently the exact team where Durant wants to play next season. Here is more surrounding hiccups following recent negotiations with Minnesota (via The Athletic):
"But amid their most recent round of talks with Phoenix, the Timberwolves were made aware that he prefers to play elsewhere — specifically, league sources say, the Spurs."
In fairness to Durant, who would not want to play with Victor Wembanyama?
Q&A: Spurs' Jeremy Sochan has 'something to prove' next season
The Spurs have a fantastic young core surrounding Wembanyama, including 2025 NBA Rookie of the Year winner Stephon Castle.

They also have the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and they are expected to take Dylan Harper.
San Antonio also has a fun guard after acquiring De'Aaron Fox at the trade deadline and an exciting new coach with Mitch Johnson.
It's unclear what they would have to offer the Suns to get Durant but it would likely involve Harrison Barnes and the No. 14 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Other assets, like Devin Vassell, are still undetermined.

Tyrese Haliburton scheduled for MRI as part of leg injury evaluation, AP source says
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Tyrese Haliburton's status for Game 6 of the NBA Finals is understandably in at least some doubt, after the Olympic gold-medal-winning guard was undergoing evaluation Tuesday to determine the extent of the injury to his lower right leg. Part of that evaluation was an MRI exam, according to a person with knowledge of the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because neither Haliburton nor the team revealed that publicly. ESPN first reported that an MRI was scheduled. Pacers coach Rick Carlisle did not specifically say that the MRI would be part of the team's next moves in figuring out how best to proceed with Haliburton, though made clear that the Eastern Conference champions would be taking a close look at the injury. Given that it is evidently a muscular injury, an MRI is part of the typical evaluation process. 'We'll evaluate everything with Tyrese,' Carlisle said after Game 5, which the Pacers lost in Oklahoma City to fall into a 3-2 deficit in the series on Monday night. Game 6 is in Indianapolis on Thursday night. Haliburton left Game 5 late in the first quarter and returned to the bench area with a wrap on his lower leg. He not only returned to the game, he played 34 minutes — but did so while missing all six of his shots and with him barely looking to shoot at all in the second half. He finished the game with seven rebounds and six assists, but only four points. It was the first time in Haliburton's career that he logged at least 34 minutes and failed to make a single field goal. The Pacers, Carlisle said, discussed not letting Haliburton play in the second half. Haliburton vetoed those plans and played 17 minutes in the second half, leading the Pacers in rebounds and assists after intermission. 'I mean, it's the NBA Finals. It's the finals, man,' Haliburton said after Game 5. 'I've worked my whole life to be here and I want to be out there to compete. Help my teammates any way I can. I was not great tonight by any means, but it's not really a thought of mine to not play here. If I can walk, then I want to play. They understand that. And it is what it is. Got to be ready to go for Game 6.' The Pacers are scheduled to practice Wednesday. ___ AP NBA:

NFL Analyst Compares Cowboys RB to Lakers' Bronny James
NFL Analyst Compares Cowboys RB to Lakers' Bronny James originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Heading into the offseason, running back was arguably the biggest position of need for the Dallas Cowboys. The team finished 27th in rushing (100.3 yards per game) and lost top back and 1,000-yard rusher Rico Dowdle to the Carolina Panthers in free agency. Advertisement Dallas addressed the position by signing former Denver Broncos second-round pick Javonte Williams and former 1,200-yard back Miles Sanders in free agency, and the team took ex-Texas star Jaydon Blue in the fifth round of the 2025 draft in April. And while the Cowboys' running back room is now crowded with the likes of Hunter Luepke, Phil Mafah, and Deuce Vaughn, Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News believes one of those four backs is in a similar situation as one high-profile NBA star. Dallas Cowboys running back Deuce Vaughn (42) runs with the ball against the New York Giants during the second half at MetLife Mulholland-Imagn Images 'Vaughn is fighting to get on the field,' Watkins wrote. 'Vaughn, if you remember, was the feel-good story of the 2023 draft when picked in the sixth round out of Kansas State. He's played in 14 games since. His father is Chris Vaughn, the Cowboys' assistant director of college scouting. Advertisement 'You can debate whether the Cowboys did this as a favor to Chris, but Deuce hasn't been given an easy road to earn roster spots. He's also understanding of the critiques of that. In some ways you can compare it to Bronny James, LeBron James' son whom the Lakers drafted in the second round last year.' Los Angeles Lakers guard Bronny James (9) warms up prior to the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images On the surface, the Bronny comparison seems like a bit of a reach. While the Lakers very well may have drafted him as a favor to LeBron, he also played some significant minutes for them last year as a rookie second-round pick, and he clearly factors into the team's long-term plans for the future. Conversely, Vaughn was a sixth-round pick who's seemingly been a fringe roster player every year since he was drafted, and many analysts believe he'll be nothing more than a depth piece on an NFL roster. Advertisement However, the point of nepotism leading to each being drafted where they were is certainly worth pointing out. Magic and Grizzlies Set NBA Trade Market, Could Key Pacers Fetch a Massive Price?
Magic and Grizzlies Set NBA Trade Market, Could Key Pacers Fetch a Massive Price? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. On Sunday, the Memphis Grizzlies and Orlando Magic made the first blockbuster trade of the NBA offseason, swapping Desmond Bane for Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cole Anthony, four first-round picks, and a pick swap. Advertisement It was immediately labeled a massive overpay for the Magic, although Orlando is now poised to be a real threat in the Eastern Conference. In order to maintain their status as top dogs in the East, the Pacers could get involved in a splashy offseason move. The Pacers, after beating the Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and New York Knicks in the playoffs, tossed some dirt on the coffin of the "superteam." Rick Carlisle rode his depth all season long, and the Pacers have ten (maybe even more) players who play with speed and efficiency on both ends of the floor. During their run, high-level bench and role players Aaron Nesmith, Andrew Nembhard, TJ McConnell, Bennedict Mathurin, and Obi Toppin have all improved their trade value, although with a Conference title under their belt, the Pacers would be reluctant to trade anyone this summer. However, for four picks, including the 16th pick this year and an unprotected Phoenix Suns' selection this season? That's not even touching on KCP, who has championship experience and is one of the better two-way guards in the NBA, despite Bane being a clear upgrade. Advertisement It's hard to imagine the Pacers doing business with anyone in the East, although if the San Antonio Spurs made an offer for Toppin, or if the LA Clippers called asking about adding a depth piece like Mathurin? No rumors are swirling yet, although it's easy to imagine. With the trade market inflated like it never has been before, the Pacers might be in a position to make some changes in the name of their long-term outlook.
