'Aliens: The Video Games' Charts The Interactive History Of Everyone's Favourite Xenomorphs

As one of cinema's longest-running sci-fi horror franchises, the Alien series has spawned more than its fair share of video games—but the surprising thing is, unlike some other movie crossovers we could mention, the majority of them have been pretty decent.
Starting in 1982 on the Atari VCS / 2600, the lineage of Alien video games has hit systems such as the Mega Drive, SNES, PS1, PC, PSP and more—and a new book by acclaimed author and journalist Mike Diver aims to chart that blood-soaked history.
Aliens: The Video Games was formally announced back in 2024 and covers both games 'old and new, licensed and unofficial, crossovers, fan projects [and] unreleased titles,' according to the author. It will also feature plenty of interviews.

Whether you're a fan of Alien 3: The Gun, Alien vs Predator or the more recent Alien: Isolation, this will surely be a recommended read for fans of cinema's most enduring xenomorphs. It's being published in 2026 and will be available online and from book retailers, and should serve as the perfect companion tome to Andy Kelly's superb Perfect Organism.
The Alien franchise started back in 1979 with Ridley Scott's seminal horror classic. It was followed by an equally-adored sequel in 1986, directed by James Cameron.
Since then, we've seen multiple sequels and spin-offs, with the most recent movie being 2024's Alien: Romulus. A TV series, Alien: Earth, will debut on FX on Hulu in 2025.

‘King of the Hill' cast and creators on revival: ‘Bobby's got a little bit of fame and a little bit of swagger'
'On August 4th I will be back, and I'm pissed off.' That's how King of the Hill cocreator and executive producer Mike Judge teased the long-anticipated revival of the Hulu animated series, in the voice of Hank Hill. Patterson, and voice cast members Pamela Adlon, Lauren Tom and Toby Huss. The new season finds Hank and Peggy having retired and returning to live in Texas, after working in Saudi Arabia; Bobby (as voiced by Adlon) is now 21 and working as a sushi chef — technically a "German sushi robata" chef — in Dallas. Judge said they had toyed with the idea of bringing the show back for years, but "when it clicked for me, I would just say, is when we start talking about actually aging the characters and the idea of Hank going to Saudi Arabia for a propane gig to retire off of," said Judge. "The ideas just started coming in. Because it's such a grounded realistic show, it just seemed right that they would be older. Bobby wouldn't be the same. That just seemed like the right thing." The actors said they'd been following the rumors of a revival for years. "I just never wish for things like that because it's too big of a dream," said Adlon. Once she was convinced it was real, she was quickly on board with playing an older version of her beloved character. "Bobby's got a little bit of fame and he's got a little bit of swagger," she said. "As an adult, he's become more centered and a bit more like his dad." Huss added, 'I came back because it was like I miss my friends. I miss my friends in real life, but I miss my cartoon friends. We used to have crazy adventures, and I want to have more adventures with them.' But some friends are missing — Brittany Murphy, who voiced Luanne, died in 2009, and Johnny Hardwick, who voiced Dale Gribble, died in August 2023. He'll be in the first six episodes, and then Huss will take over the role for the remaining four. Patterson, who stepped in as showrunner, said, 'We talked about the best way to honor them, the show and the fans as well. I don't want to give any spoilers, but we found opportunities to let them be referenced, in a very respectful way that people are going to appreciate.' Add Huss, 'I'm not trying to copy Johnny ... I guess I'm trying to be Johnny," said Huss. "He laid down a really wonderful goofball character ... he had a lot of weird heart to him and that's a credit to Johnny. So all I'm trying to do is hold on to his Dale-ness. We love our guy Johnny and it's so sad that he's not here.' Over its initial run, King of the Hill received seven Emmy nominations and won twice: Best Animated Series in 1999 and Adlon for Best Voice-Over Performance in 2002. Hulu Announces 'King of the Hill' Revival Release Date, Plot Details
Summary Hulu's revival ofKing of the Hillhas received an official release date. The Hollywood Reportershared that the reboot is finally set to premiere on August 4. A description of the new season reads, 'After years working a propane job in Saudi Arabia to earn their retirement nest egg, Hank and Peggy Hill return to a changed Arlen, Texas, to reconnect with old friends Dale, Boomhauer and Bill. Meanwhile, Bobby is living his dream as a chef in Dallas and enjoying his 20s with his former classmates Connie, Joseph and Chane.' In addition to the premiere date, Hulu also released the opening sequence that pays homage the original. The 40-second visual gives audiences a rough timeline of what's happened since the show ended, including the new family that moved into the Hill's Arlen, Texas home, the pandemic and the Hill family's return. Closing it out is a Hill family portrait with Hank, Peggy and a grown-up Bobby. Reprising their roles are co-creator Mike Judge, Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Johnny Hardwick, Stephen Root, Lauren Tom and Toby that Hardwick, the voice of Dale, was able to record for the revival. Announced more than four years ago and hailing from Noah Hawley (of FX's Fargo and Legion), Alien: Earth is set in 2120 when five corporations — Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold — wield the power of nations. Even though all make-believe, 'It's scary being chased by an alien, it does get to you!' avows Chandler. Ceesay in turn reports that he has seen a few episodes already, 'and there were moments where I was breathing a little shallower, waiting for that [scary] moment to hit.' All told, Alien: Earth, he says, is 'tense, it's not just jump scares.' Alien: Earth premieres Tuesday, Aug. 12, with the first two episodes available to stream on Hulu at 8 pm ET and airing on FX at 8/7c.
