LONDON (AP) — Britain's government said Monday it will ban the pro-Palestinian activist group Palestine Action under anti-terrorism laws after the group's members broke into a military base and vandalized two planes last week.
The measure means it will be a criminal offense to belong to or support the group, with a maximum of 14 years in prison.

Democratic Arkansas state senator announces bid for governor
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas state Sen. Fred Love announced Monday he's seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge Republican Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders next year. Love, who represents a Little Rock district, said he was running 'because I believe Arkansas works best when it works for all of us.' Love has served in the state Senate since 2023 and before that had served six terms in the state House. As part of his announcement, Love said he will campaign on an economic development plan that included expanded access to startup capital, infrastructure, and grants for small businesses. 'We must stop measuring progress only by what happens in a few cities,' Love said in a statement. 'Prosperity should be visible in our Delta towns, our Ozark communities, and our Main Streets—not just in spreadsheets.' Sanders, who served as White House press secretary during President Donald Trump's first term, was first elected governor in 2022. Sanders has more than $3.7 million in the bank for her reelection bid, and her campaign launched a TV ad in January. Republicans hold all statewide partisan seats in Arkansas and a majority in both chambers of the Legislature. The state's primary election is held on March 3.

Supreme Court allows Trump to restart swift deportation of migrants away from their home countries
WASHINGTON (AP) — A divided Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to restart swift removals of migrants to countries other than their homelands, lifting for now a court order requiring they get a chance to challenge the deportations. The high court majority did not detail its reasoning in the brief order, as is typical on its emergency docket. All three liberal justices dissented from the order. The high court's action came after immigration officials put eight people on a plane to South Sudan in May. U.S. District Judge Brian E. Murphy in Boston found that violated his court order giving people a chance to argue they could be in danger of torture if sent away from their home countries. The migrants from countries including Myanmar, Vietnam and Cuba had been convicted of serious crimes in the U.S. and immigration officials have said that they were unable to return them quickly to their home countries. Authorities instead landed the plane at a U.S. naval base in Djibouti, where the migrants were housed in a converted shipping container and the officers guarding them faced rough conditions even as immigration attorneys waited for word from their clients. The case comes amid a sweeping immigration crackdown by Republican President Donald Trump's administration, which has pledged to deport millions of people who are living in the United States illegally.
