World's only person who doesn't need a visa for travelling to any country; not US President, British King, UN Chief, he is...
Representational Image
A valid passport and an visa are perquisites for any person to legally travel outside the border of their country, and this rule applies to all Heads of State, Kings, Monarchs, diplomats, and even the United Nations secretary-general. But did you know there is one individual on the planet who does not require any of these documents, and can travel to any country across the world without a visa or a passport? Only man who can travel without a visa
The man we are talking about is the Pope, the head of the Catholic Church and the Vatican City– world's smallest country. The special status enjoyed by the Pope also comes with certain unique perks, including the ability to travel to any country without the need to carry a passport or a visa.
According to details, as the head of the Vatican City, the Pope is an internationally recognized diplomat, and has a diplomatic passport that allows him to travel without a visa. Pope Francis, who recently passed away, had visited more than 50 countries without requiring a visa. Visa, passport rules don't apply to the Pope
The Vatican diplomatic passport carried by the Pope allows visa-free travel to most countries globally, whenever the chief pontiff pays an official visit to a country, he is granted special exemptions, including visa-free travel, by the host nation. While some countries may have formalities for special security or political reasons, but usually, a visa is not mandatory for the Pope.
As the representative of 1.3 billion adherents of Catholic Christianity, the Pope is a state guest for the host country, and visa and passport rules do not apply to him. In many ways, the Pope's status is higher than any monarch, head of state, or diplomat, primarily because the Vatican is a religious and diplomatic entity that enjoys full sovereignty under international law Legality of Pope's status
The legality of the unique status enjoyed by the Pope stems from the Lateran Treaty of 1929, which granted sovereignty to Vatican, giving the Pope a full diplomatic immunity. Additionally, the Pope also receives special status under international treaties signed as part of the 1961 Vienna Convention.
Notably, a few countries, including China and Russia, sometimes place political conditions on the Pope's travel, but a visa is still required. No other person enjoys same perks as the Pope
Although the British royal family also enjoys some unique perks owing to their status, yet not at the level as those accorded to the Pope. King Charles III does not officially have a passport, as British passports are issued in his name, and does not usually require a visa, but this is not a blanket situation akin to the Pope, and is reliant on bilateral relations and royal protocol.
In contrast, the Japanese Emperor does require a visa for state visits, though he does not have an official passport. The constitution of Japan recognizes the Emperor as a symbol of the state, not the ruler.
Similarly, most countries, including the United States, offer visa exemption to the UN Secretary General, but certain states do require documentation in certain scenarios. The UN chief travels using the laissez-passe which is valid in most nations across the globe. Pope's 'Shepherd One' private jet
The Pope travels in his private jet 'Shepherd One', a name inspired by the Pope's symbolic role as the 'Shepherd of God's flock' in the Catholic Church.
Notably, the Shepherd One jet is not a permanent aircraft and is usually provided by Alitalia, Italy's national airline, or the host country's national carrier. The aircraft is usually a Boeing 787, Airbus A330 or similar large, long-haul aircraft, configured specifically for papal travel, featuring a private area for the Pope, a bed, and a separate space for meditation and prayer.
The Shepherd One has separate cabins for the Pope's aides Vatican officials, and journalists, and follows high-level security protocols, with the host country and the Vatican security teams monitoring the flight. The special aircraft displays the Vatican flag and the Pope's Coat of Arms, and usually departs from the Fiumicino Airport in Rome.

Masterstroke by India's ally, deploys a deadly threat to Chinese warships, China's aircraft carriers could be reduced to...it can destroy...
Japan showcased the Type 12 (12SSM) Coastal Defense Missile System Tokyo: In a major development, India's ally Japan has deployed a special weapon to bolster its maritime security. This decision comes amid rising tensions with China. To recall, during the Fuji Firepower Exercise held in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan showcased the Type 12 (12SSM) Coastal Defense Missile System. It marks a significant step in enhancing Japan's counterstrike capabilities in response to maritime threats posed by China. Type 12 (12SSM) Coastal Defense Missile System is Japan's long-range coastal defense missile launcher vehicle. The Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) publicly displayed this new long-range coastal defense missile launcher vehicle for the first time. This missile system is a land-based weapon platform designed to detect, track, and destroy enemy warships. It has a range of up to 1,000 kilometers. Here are some of the key features of the system: Japan's Type 12 or 12SSM system is a next-generation coastal defense missile system It is specifically designed to target enemy warships entering Japanese territorial waters. Its range has been significantly extended to 1,000 kilometers, making it highly lethal. Such missile defense systems are deployed along coastlines and on islands. They can strike naval targets at long distances without relying on warships or aircraft. Coastal defense missiles are a key component of Anti-Access/Area-Denial (A2/AD) strategies. The systems are equipped with modern sensors, long-range precision-guided missiles, and mobile launch vehicles These systems are designed to protect maritime sovereignty, control strategic sea routes, and support joint maritime operations. China's Challenges Will Increase It is important to note that Japan's missile system features a secretive design that reduces its radar signature. This feature makes it difficult to detect and intercept. It is built on a high-mobility 8×8 chassis, which functions as a Transporter-Erector-Launcher (TEL). The platform includes a canisterized launcher with eight rectangular launch tubes arranged in two rows, enhancing its operational readiness and stealth capabilities.

UK, Allies Sanctions Israeli Ministers For 'Inciting Violence' Against Palestinians
London: Britain and four other nations imposed sanctions on Tuesday on two far-right Israeli cabinet ministers, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, accusing them of repeatedly inciting violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Norway joined Britain in freezing the assets and imposing travel bans on Israel's national security minister Ben-Gvir and finance minister Smotrich, both West Bank settlers. Signalling a rare split with its close British ally, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio wrote on X that the US condemned the move. He said it would not advance US-led efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, end the war there and bring home hostages Palestinian Hamas militants abducted from Israel 20 months ago. "We reject any notion of equivalence: Hamas is a terrorist organisation... We remind our partners not to forget who the real enemy is," Rubio said, demanding a withdrawal of the sanctions. British foreign minister David Lammy, in a joint statement with the foreign ministers of the other four nations, said Ben-Gvir and Smotrich had "incited extremist violence and serious abuses of Palestinian human rights. These actions are not acceptable. "This is why we have taken action now to hold those responsible to account," the statement said. Two sources with direct knowledge of the matter said the sanctions included targeted financial restrictions and travel bans. Israel's foreign minister, Gideon Saar, said the action by the five countries was "outrageous" and the Israeli government would hold a special meeting early next week to decide how to respond. Smotrich, speaking at the inauguration of a new West Bank Jewish settlement in the Hebron Hills, spoke of "contempt" for Britain's move. "We are determined, God willing, to continue building," he said. As the five nations announced action against the Israeli ministers, the United States imposed sanctions on a leading Palestinian human rights organization as well as five charity groups in the Middle East and Europe, accusing them of supporting Palestinian militants including Hamas. 'Egregious' Last month, the leaders of Britain, France and Canada put pressure on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's government to end a blockade on aid into Gaza, where international experts have said famine is imminent, promising "concrete action" if a new military offensive did not stop. London also suspended free trade talks with Israel for pursuing "egregious policies" in the occupied West Bank and Gaza, and announced further sanctions against West Bank settlers. In response, Netanyahu accused them of wanting to help Hamas and "being on the wrong side of history". Tuesday's joint statement said their action was focused on curbing violence by Israeli settlers in the West Bank and was aimed solely at individuals who "undermine Israel's own security". But it added the measures could not be seen in isolation of events in Gaza. "We continue to be appalled by the immense suffering of civilians, including the denial of essential aid," it said. "There must be no unlawful transfer of Palestinians from Gaza or within the West Bank, nor any reduction in the territory of the Gaza Strip." The foreign ministers said they still wanted "a strong friendship with the people of Israel based on shared ties, values and commitment to (its) security and future". "We will strive to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the immediate release of the remaining hostages by Hamas, which can have no future role in the governance of Gaza, a surge in aid and a path to a two-state solution," the statement said. Ben-Gvir and Smotrich have previously clashed with Netanyahu, both calling for the permanent conquest of Gaza and re-establishment of the Jewish settlements there that Israel abandoned in 2005, notions that the Israeli leader has rejected. Israel began its offensive in Gaza in response to the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel in October 2023 in which 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were killed, according to Israeli tallies, and 251 people were taken to Gaza and held hostage. Israel's campaign has devastated much of Gaza and killed more than 54,000 Palestinians, according to Gaza health authorities.
