Lalu dreams of winning Bihar polls, but can't even manage his family: Giriraj Singh
Taking a dig at RJD chief Lalu Prasad, Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Thursday (June 26, 2025) said the former Bihar Chief Minister is dreaming of returning to power in the State, even as he struggles to manage his family affairs.
Mr. Singh claimed that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would form the government again in Bihar under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
"Lalu Prasad is seeing 'Mungeri Lal Ke Haseen Sapne' of winning Bihar polls. The reality is that he can't even manage his own family. One of his sons has revolted. In the coming days, the NDA will again form the government in the state under the leadership of Nitish Kumar," Mr. Singh told reporters.
Mr. Singh was here to participate in a mock parliament session organised by the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha to mark the 50th anniversary of the Emergency.
Later addressing media persons, Mr. Singh alleged that democracy was murdered by the Congress during the Emergency.
He also accused the Jharkhand government of patronising Bangladeshi infiltrators.
"Jharkhand is sitting on a heap of explosives, and that is Bangladeshi infiltrators. While infiltrators are being identified across the country, they are being welcomed in Jharkhand," Mr. Singh alleged.
He claimed that the state's tribal population was declining rapidly.
"There is no identity of Jharkhand without tribals. Today's youths have to launch a movement to save the tribals and Jharkhand's existence," he added.
Mr. Singh also urged the state government to implement the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act, commonly known as the PESA Act, at the earliest.
The PESA Act, which recognises the rights of tribal communities in Scheduled Areas, was enacted in 1996. The law is yet to be implemented in the state.

In a post on microblogging platform X, tagging Union finance minister Nirmala Sitaraman and the PMO, Jagan alleged that APMDC concluded the second tranche of its NCD (bond) issuance at a coupon (interest) rate of 9.30% to raise 5,526 crore, taking the aggregate value of the issuance to 9,000 crore on Wednesday (June 25). He said this is second instalment of APMDC going for NCDs in violation of treasury rules. "The govt went ahead with the issuance of NCDs despite the matter being admitted by the AP high court and notices served. It is quite apparent that the proceeds of the issuance would be utilized to finance govt revenue expenditure," he said. He further stated that the TDP-led NDA govt granted private parties access to the consolidated funds of the state through RBI direct debit mandate, owing to which, private parties can access the state exchequer and withdraw funds without any requirement of any action from the govt officials. He alleged that it was a blatant violation of articles 203, 204 and 293(1) of the Constitution of India. The govt also mortgaged mineral wealth worth 1,91,000 crore for NCD (bond) issuances of aggregate value 9,000 crore, Jagan further claimed. He alleged that the additional yearly burden on APMDC is to the tune of 235 crore due to the high interest rate, and the term of NCDs is understood to be 10 years. With NCD issuance, the total budget and off-budget borrowings availed and secured in this 13-month period by the TDP alliance govt exceeded 50% of what was borrowed by the previous govt over a five-year period, the YSRCP chief alleged.

RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabole was addressing an event marking 50 years of the Emergency and said, 'Babasaheb Ambedkar never used these words in the preamble of the Constitution. Shah asserted that the Modi government has decided to observe June 25 as 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas' annually across the nation. The Emergency had altered key elements such as the Preamble and the Constitution, weakening the Judiciary and suspending democratic rights, Shah had said. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday had passed a resolution denouncing the Emergency imposed by former prime minister Indira Gandhi. The Cabinet held a meeting chaired by prime minister Narendra Modi and observed a two minute silence as a 'tribute to those whose constitutionally guaranteed democratic rights were taken away and who were then subjected to unimaginable horrors.'

'We maintain constant watch': MEA on China-Pakistan-Bangladesh trilateral meeting
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday said that it is keeping a constant watch on developments in India's neighbourhood, especially in light of the recent trilateral meeting involving China, Pakistan, and Bangladesh . Speaking at a press briefing, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "We maintain a constant watch on the developments in our neighbourhood that have a bearing on our interests and our security, our relations with individual countries, while they stand on their own footing, take into account the evolving context as well." The meeting held on June 19 in Yunnan, China, took place on the sidelines of the 9th China-South Asia Exposition and the 6th China-South Asia Cooperation Forum. It was attended by Bangladesh's acting foreign secretary Ruhul Alam Siddique, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong, and Pakistan's Additional Secretary (Asia Pacific) Imran Ahmed Siddiqui. Pakistan's foreign secretary to China, Amna Baloch, participated via video link, as reported by Daily Star. As reported by The Daily Star, Bangladesh called it an "informal meeting", Pakistan termed it as "the inaugural meeting of the trilateral mechanism". According to the Global Trade Research Initiative (GTRI), India's restrictions on imports from Bangladesh via land ports will impact goods worth USD 770 million, accounting for nearly 42 per cent of total bilateral imports. The move limits the entry of products such as ready-made garments and processed foods to specific seaports, an official press release by the Ministry stated and is widely viewed as a response to Bangladesh's recent curbs on Indian yarn, rice, and other goods, along with its decision to impose a transit fee on Indian cargo, marking a shift from previously cooperative trade relations. Under the new directive, all kinds of ready-made garments from Bangladesh can now only be imported through Nhava Sheva and Kolkata seaports, with entry through land ports no longer permitted.
