RuPaul's Drag Race star The Vivienne 'lay dead in murky bath for days', inquest hears

The star, whose real name was James Lee Williams, died aged 32 earlier this year.
RuPaul's Drag Race star The Vivienne lay dead in a "murky" bathtub for days before they was discovered by a neighbour, an inquest heard.
The star, whose real name was James Lee Williams, died aged 32 earlier this year. Police were called to an address in Chorlton-by-Backford, near Chester, on January 5 following reports of a sudden death.

The coroner said that, on the balance of probabilities, it is likely that James died on Friday evening and was not found and pronounced dead until the Sunday.

Delivering her verdict, she added: 'I am satisfied that James Lee Williams' death was a misadventure. He took ketamine but he did not intend to end his own life.'
Speaking at Cheshire Coroner's Court today, Janine Gobold was alerted when their friends got in touch to ask if she had seen them. Deciding she would use her key to check on the TV favourite, she told the inquest about the devastating find after entering the property with her son.
She said in court: "I went into the kitchen and Ryan went into the living room, we were calling his name and there was no answer. All the lights were on. As we got to the top of the stairs, Ryan went one way and I turned right. James ' bedroom is there and there is a door to the ensuite.
"I looked at James' bed which was all ruffled, I initially thought Panda [Mr Williams' dog] had ragged the quilt on the bed. 'And then I walked past James' bed and into the bathroom and saw James in the bath, he just looked like he was sleeping."
'I ran over to them and put my hand under their head to stop their face going into the water. I screamed for Ryan, telling them they needed to call for an ambulance and to get some help. I kept hold of James because I didn't want their face in the water, I kept talking to them. Ryan came in the room and he was saying 'mum, I can't come in.'

'So I gently lay James back to take the call from the 999, she asked me some questions and asked me to try and get the patient out of the bath. I tried to take the weight of his body, I told Ryan to go and get my partner Mike. I said he needed to phone Bobby and that we needed help. Then I just sat with James and made sure their head didn't go under the water.'

As reported in the Mirror, the performer was laid to rest at a church in Bodelwyddan in Denbighshire, North Wales - where they are originally from. Their family confirmed that they had died from a cardiac arrest caused by the effects of taking Ketamine.
DS Thomas Philpotts, who was the senior investigating officer in the case of James' death, describes entering the bathroom. He suspected he had been dead for some time. The officer wanted to establish if there were any suspicious circumstances or any third party involvement. He began a search of the house.
He says while searching James' bedroom there was a small bag that appeared to have previously contained drugs. In the bathroom, James' phone was on the floor next to the bath and there was a bin with several more packets that were suspected to have had drugs in.
He suspects they were used before James had got into the bath, over a period of time. He says: 'Everything I was told led me to believe that James had been in the bath since Friday night.' He says his hypothesis was that it was likely that James had died from a medical episode, possibly brought on by drug use, or had possibly drowned in the bath. He says he was satisfied there were no suspicious circumstances or third party involvement.

Emmerdale's PC Swirling investigates as violent crime rocks the village

PC Swirling (Andy Moore) was back doing what he does best tonight – solving crime committed in the Emmerdale village. Falling victim to a horrific ordeal in this evening's episode was Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt). He had agreed to take Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) into Hotten to get a hire car but on the way, he had to stop due to Bear needing the loo. While Paddy waited, we were introduced to new character Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths). Paddy has met her before, but avoids her due to the fact she isn't the most welcoming person. As Celia wandered off, Paddy spotted a sheep caught in a fence. He jumped out of the car and set about freeing it, but the situation then dramatically changed when an aggressive dog approached and started barking. The dog leaped over the fence and attacked Paddy, badly injuring his arm. Poor Pads was rushed into theatre, leaving Bear and Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) to anxiously wait for an update. Fortunately, Paddy was very lucky. As he laid in bed to recover, PC Swirling told him that they'd head to Celia's land to check the area out. Pads was then faced with a frustrated Bear. Moments after hearing how grateful his son was that he saved his life, Bear chose to absolutely verbally destroy Paddy. He commented on Paddy's mental health, called him a 'doormat', and reckoned people tip toe around him because they're worried he might feel suicidal again. 'So they are cruel to each other, but Bear, as he's in hospital, Bear calls him a pansy and calls him, you know, he's not a man', star Dominic Brunt shared. More Trending 'He says the worst things that a father can say to a son, really, and at the very worst time, and at his most vulnerable, and he's injured, and he wants to be looked after. But that's the thing about the miscommunication as well, because Bear is venting, he doesn't mean that, he's just saying it. He doesn't know what to say. He's worried about his son. 'He sees him there, and he wants it to go away. He wants everything to be right. And I think his way of saying it, his inarticulate way, is by saying, 'get out of bed, you pansy!'.' Paddy has made a massive amount of progress since that mental health storyline, but Bear's words hurt as much as that dog attack. He held his own while around Mandy and Bear but as soon as Paddy was left by himself, he allowed himself a moment to break down in tears. View More » As for Celia? Huge EastEnders twist as character uncovers a brutal murder

Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) has opened up about her brother Keanu's (Danny Walters) shocking murder in EastEnders. That's right – we're harking back to Christmas 2023 and the storyline that dominated the next twelve months worth of storylines. If you need a quick refresher, here goes… Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth), Suki Panesar-Unwin (Balvinder Sopal), Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) and Denise Fox (Diane Parish) all found themselves complicit in a gruesome death. Linda fatally stabbed Keanu with a meat thermometer as he was throttling Sharon. Just minutes before, Denise had hit Nish over the head with a bottle when he lunged towards Suki. A number of locals then found out, including Linda's son Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff), and twisted Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) eventually took responsibility for the crime in the month prior to his death. One of the last Walford residents to learn the ghastly truth was Bernie, who was horrified to know she'd been working in the cafe just metres from her brother's corpse. Now, ahead of her exit, she's come clean to cousin Felix Baker (Matthew James Morrison) about what happened. It comes as her plot to scam the Panesar family out of thousands was exposed to Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) in the first of tonight's two instalments. She became desperate for cash herself, and after her suspicions were piqued, she stole Bernie's laptop and uncovered the crime. Bernie agreed to her blackmail deal – half of the money in exchange for her silence. But she knew her time was running out, and urged Felix to start a new life in Spain with her. She also hoped this would influence his future with Johnny. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? The latest gossip from Emmerdale? Felix was stunned by her revelations, but even more so that she would dare mess with the fearsome Panesar clan. Little did he realise, she'd thought up a plan. More Trending Vicki had told her aunt Kathy about her sudden windfall, and she rushed to tell her 'Six' co-conspirator Suki. In turn, Suki told her step-son Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) what was happening and he demanded an audience with Bernie. She sat down, and made a brutal and damning lie – Vicki is the one stealing.
