'PoK-Based Terrorist Played Key Role In Pahalgam Attack, 15 OGWs Under Scanner': Key Details From NIA Probe
According to officials, Farooq Ahmed alias Farooq Teedwa, a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander operating from PoK, facilitated the entry of the Pahalgam attackers.
Pahalgam Terror Attack: After the dastardly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, which killed 26 tourists, shook the nation, the Indian Army and intelligence agencies have stepped up their investigation into the incident and are locating the perpetrators behind this incident.
After interrogating more than 2,000 Over Ground Workers (OGWs), at least 15 of these workers are under the scanner of the NIA. These 15 OGWs have been zeroed in on after intensive questioning by security officials.
One of the wanted terrorists in connection with the Pahalgam attack is Farooq Ahmed alias Farooq Teedwa, a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander who is believed to be operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). His home in J&K's Kupwara district was among the ten demolished by security forces last week.
Intelligence inputs suggest that Farooq has facilitated the entry of Pakistani terrorists and put them in touch with his network of OGWs. These workers have been questioned to ascertain the identity of those who aided the Pahalgam attackers.
Tensions High Between India And Pakistan
Tensions are high between India and Pakistan, as the Pakistani Army has repeatedly violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) for six consecutive days. Tensions have escalated as Pakistani troops have now opened fire across the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir's Pargwal Sector for the first time, to which Indian Army responded effectively.
A week since the attack, security forces, intelligence agencies, and investigation teams are carrying out relentless operations in Kashmir. Large-scale detentions are being carried out. Security forces have arrested various individuals who are believed to have assisted the attackers.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has officially taken over the investigation from the Jammu and Kashmir police. During the crackdown, 10 residences belonging to the terrorists were demolished. The local government has decided to shut more than 40 tourist sites to review the security audit of these sites in J&K.
Authorities have stepped up the manhunt to locate the terrorists. They have also released sketches of the suspects, and a photograph of them went viral on social media. The three terrorists were identified as Hashim Musa alias Sulaiman, Ali Bhai alias Talha Bhai, and Adil Hussain Thokar. Musa and Talha are Pakistanis, while Thokar is a local terrorist, the officials said.
India's Response To Pahalgam Attack
In a high-level security meeting on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Indian armed forces have complete operational freedom to decide on the mode, targets, and timing of the nation's response to the Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 tourists were killed.
PM Modi also chaired the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) meeting at his official residence of 7, Lok Kalyan Marg on Wednesday, the first since the Pulwama attack in 2019. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar are participating in the meeting. The PM also held a Cabinet meeting after the crucial meetings.
Meanwhile, the police arrested 3 overground workers of the terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora as a crackdown on the terrorists and their associates is underway in the Valley, officials said. Intelligence sources also said the mastermind of the Pahalgam attack, Hashim Musa, is hiding in Kashmir.

150 Pak Contacts, Hotline To ISI: Details From 'Spy' Jasbir Singh's Probe
Quick Read Summary is AI generated, newsroom reviewed. Punjab YouTuber Jasbir Singh was arrested for alleged espionage, and subsequent questioning revealed multiple Pakistan visits and ties to ISI operatives. He confessed to sharing a laptop with a Pakistani intelligence officer. Punjab YouTuber Jasbir Singh, whose arrest marked the most recent action in India's action against an alleged cross-border espionage network, had visited Pakistan six times and had around 150 contact numbers from the neighbouring country in his phone. After his arrest earlier this week, the man behind the popular 'JaanMahal Video' YouTube channel told police during remand that he had given his laptop to a Pakistan intelligence officer for around an hour. Further, like many others arrested for allegedly passing on crucial information to Pakistan, including YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, Singh too was in touch with Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) operative Danish alias Ehsan-ur-Rehman, who worked as a visa officer in the Pakistani embassy in Delhi. He was introduced to Danish by a female friend, he told a court in Punjab's Mohali. Singh also told the police that Danish had ordered some SIM cards from him. Danish was expelled from New Delhi after his link to the espionage network was found after Malhotra's arrest. On Saturday, Singh's police remand was extended for two days. He was arrested on June 4 on espionage charges and was allegedly in close touch with Malhotra. After his arrest the police had claimed that it unearthed a "terror-backed espionage network" linking him to Pakistani intelligence and army officials. Earlier, Singh was found to be associated with Pakistan Intelligence Officer Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa and it was established that he came into direct contact with ISI officers during his visits to Pakistan in 2020, 2021 and 2024. He also disclosed during police interrogation that former Pakistan cop Nasir Dhillon had introduced him to ISI officials in Lahore. On his YouTube channel, which has 11 lakh subscribers, Singh posted travel and cooking vlogs. Security agencies also suspect that hundreds of former police personnel of Pakistan Police are part of the espionage racket, which targets Indian YouTubers. Others facing spying charges include a student from Patiala's Khalsa College, Davendra Singh Dhillon. The 25-year-old was arrested in Haryana after he uploaded photos of a pistol on Facebook, and his Pakistan links emerged during his questioning. Nauman Ilahi, a 24-year-old security guard in Haryana, was found to be in touch with an ISI handler in Pakistan, and used to receive money in the account of his brother-in-law. A 28-year-old health worker from Gujarat Sahdev Singh Gohil was arrested for transmitting sensitive information related to Indian military infrastructure to a Pakistani operative. Arman, 23, and Tarif, both from Haryana's Nuh district, were arrested within days of each other. Tarif was caught trying to delete chats with Pakistani numbers when police arrived at his residence. Shakur Khan, a Rajasthan government employee from Jaisalmer, was also arrested on spying charges.

"Ceasefire in Operation Sindoor due to US pressure, not strength": Congress Jignesh Mevani
New Delhi [India], June 7 (ANI): Congress leader Jignesh Mevani on Saturday questioned the government over the ceasefire in Operation Sindoor, alleging foreign pressure and demanding clarity on its terms. Mevani accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of backing down under US influence and asked why the remaining terrorists haven't been caught. 'It's been a month since the government launched Operation Sindoor and claimed to have caught a terrorist. The Prime Minister boasts of a 56-inch chest, says India is a Vishwa Guru, and speaks of vermilion running through our veins. Then why haven't the remaining four terrorists been captured yet? Why doesn't Modi tell the nation under what conditions the ceasefire was agreed upon?' Mevani told ANI. Mevani further alleged, 'There was a moment when India had the upper hand. But then the US stepped in, pressured Pakistan, and our government surrendered. Why did the ceasefire happen? What were the terms? Let Modi explain that to the people.' Challenging the Prime Minister directly, Mevani said, 'Instead of distributing Sindoor from door to door, I challenge Modi: capture the remaining four terrorists before August 15.' Criticising foreign influence, he added, 'America is constantly tweeting about the situation. They claim that trade would have stopped if they had asked for it. These are official statements. So why is India silent? Why is America the one dictating terms on a matter between India and Pakistan?' Earlier Congress leader Rahul Gandhi attacked the BJP-led government over his allegations of mediation by the United States in Operation Sindoor, alleging that Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'followed' Donald Trump following 'a call' by the US leader and that the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi did not budge to the US in the 1971 war. This came after U.S. President Donald Trump's repeated claims of stopping hostilities between India and Pakistan after New Delhi's effective response to Islamabad's aggression following precision strikes on terror infrastructure. India had conducted Operation Sindoor early on May 7 and hit terror infrastructure in Pakistan and PoJK in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. India effectively responded to subsequent Pakistani aggression and pounded its airbases. India and Pakistan agreed to stop military action following a call made by Pakistan's DGMO to his Indian counterpart. (ANI)
