‘World's most beautiful' superyacht, garage for 500 cars and his own private airline – meet Royal Ascot's richest owner
IN this world there are the rich, the super-rich… and then there are the having-your-own-private-airline rich.
Where millions won't do and instead we're talking billions - hundreds and hundreds of them.

That's where Sheikh Tamin Bin Hamad Al-Thani, better known as the Emir of Qatar, comes in.
And nowhere will his seemingly limitless buying power - his family are said to be worth £250billion - be on bigger display this week than at Royal Ascot.
In racing terms, Sheikh Tamim is a relatively new kid on the block compared to the established old guard.
The likes of Godolphin, owned by the Ruler of Dubai with his own £300m yacht, and Juddmonte, run by the family of the late Sheikh Khalid Abdullah, who was a member of the House of Saud, have been dominating racing for decades.
But in just three years, the Emir, with his impressive Wathnan Racing operation, has made an almighty splash - and got the veterans very, very worried.
They won the Gold Cup - Ascot's feature race - at their first attempt with Courage Mon Ami in 2023.
At last year's Ascot they had four winners.
And they haven't slowed down since, their awesome buying power - highlighted by the recent massive-money purchase of awesome sprinter Lazzat - showing they have money to burn.
But it's not just on the racecourse that this unimaginable wealth is on display.
He might not fancy mooring it up in the Thames, but The Sheikh owns a staggering £370million superyacht called Al Lusail.
Said to 'put the super in superyacht' and hailed as 'the most beautiful in the world', it is believed to boast 'several' indoor pools.
The 400ft vessel has its own helicopter landing pad and its 'extraordinary' decor was put together by March and White, the award-winning interior designers based in London.

Inside you'll also find the ship's own lift, movie theatre and beauty salon - enough to keep the yacht's 36 guests over 18 bedrooms and 56 crew happy.
When they're at home the ruling family of Qatar reside in their £1bn Royal Palace - dubbed a 'golden architectural marvel'.
It's actually 15 palaces in one, with a garage big enough for 500 cars, a collection which is said to include a £6m Bugatti Divo, of which only 40 were ever made.
There are also Bugatti Veyrons and Chirons, a LaFerrari Aperta, Lamborghini Centenario - you name it, it's probably there.
The ultimate mode of transport, though, is Qatar Amiri Flight, the Emir's own private airline.
With 14 planes in all, it serves only the royal family and is believed to have among its fleet three Boeing 747-8 jets, each costing over £300m.
Don't be surprised to see some artwork on there either.
The Qatari Royal Family's collection is, you guessed it, worth hundreds of millions.
And among their most significant pieces of art is one of Paul Cezanne's 'The Card Players' paintings, bought for £260m in 2011 - the most amount of money ever paid for a painting at the time.
There are also works by Andy Warhol and Mark Rothko worth well north of £100m.
All in all, it makes the £567,100 Lazzat would win with victory in the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes on Saturday look insignificant.
But as they say - nothing beats the feeling of a winner!

Field Of Gold sparkles with decisive St James's Palace strike
Field Of Gold lit up the first day of Royal Ascot with a dominant display in the St James's Palace Stakes. John and Thady Gosden's colt had been a fast-finishing second behind Ruling Court in the 2000 Guineas before easily winning the Irish equivalent, while the French Guineas winner Henri Matisse was also running. There was no doubt who emerged as the best of the three though, as Colin Keane breezed through on the 8-11 favourite before bursting clear to beat Henri Matisse by three and a half lengths, with Ruling Court back in third. Field Of Gold has now charted the same route as his sire Kingman, who also suffered defeat at Newmarket before gaining Irish redemption and adding Royal Ascot glory when trained by John Gosden. 'Like father, like son,' said Gosden, in reference to Kingman's win in 2014. 'The nerves may have got to the trainer beforehand but thankfully not to the horse or the jockey. 'It was great, a great performance and Oisin (Murphy) did a nice job on Windlord setting an even pace and he came to the head of the straight and he had a lot of horse. 'For a moment I was thinking 'whoops, this is Ascot and it climbs and have we gone a bit soon'. I wasn't watching him, I was looking back as you always have to do here, but fortunately none of the dangers were coming to get him. 'He always impressed as a two-year-old but he was a big boy and slightly outgrew himself. We ran him in France which was a mistake in itself and I should have run him in the Dewhurst and I regret that. But this year he has been exemplary in everything he has done and he's a pleasure to train because he is a pretty relaxed character.' Gosden admitted the Irish 2,000 Guineas had not originally been part of Field Of Gold's intended campaign, which could influence where the colt heads next. He added: 'It was never the plan to go to Ireland and he's had a trial and two Guineas and now this which is a lot of racing and we're not even halfway through the season yet. 'Maybe (we'll) freshen him up now and go to the Sussex, but we will see. If we hadn't gone to Ireland, I would have been keen to go to the Eclipse. 'When they win like that and make it look easy they do take a lot out of themselves and I don't want to be someone seen running him back quick in an Eclipse straight off the back of this.' For Juddmonte's new retained rider it capped a fine first week in the hot seat for the Abdullah family, with the six-time Irish champion in no doubt he is in a privileged position, handed the reins to an exceptional talent. Keane said: 'He's a special horse and I'm lucky enough to join this team and to have a horse like him early on is amazing. I've had nothing compared to this and it's very special. 'He just proved what he did at the Curragh wasn't a mistake and it's similar to revving a motorbike, when you ask him it's instant. 'Without a doubt he's the best I've ridden. The next best would be Siskin who was in the same colours, but this lad is a level above, he's very special. 'I'm in a very privileged position to be in these colours and getting a horse like him is unbelievable. That was utterly sublime, Field Of Gold with a wow moment at #RoyalAscot — Adam Morgan (@Adam_Morgs) June 17, 2025 'I wasn't nervous, but there was plenty of anticipation and it was a very good renewal of the race. It was three Guineas winners taking each other on, but he's won like a very good horse. 'Ideally I would have liked to have been carried further into the race as he will only do so much once he got there. I didn't want to be a sitting duck there for them to catch me, but once he quickened up I thought they will do well to catch me. 'I couldn't wish for a better start, but when you're riding for this operation and this is the quality of horse you get, these are the opportunities you get and it's very special but also a bit of relief. 'He's following in the right footsteps and he just seems to be a horse who is getting better with racing and you can see the way he relaxes now. I'm just the man fortunate enough to be stepping in on him at the right time.' The writing was on the wall early for Ruling Court who never looked likely to confirm form with Field Of Gold. 'William (Buick) said he was never really travelling comfortably and at this level you need to be able to get up there and travel on the bridle to give your horse a breather,' said Charlie Appleby. 'It might be a bit too soon to say we'll be looking at an Eclipse but working back from the Juddmonte will be the most likely target.' Aidan O'Brien indicated Henri Matisse would likely stick at a mile.

No win for King Charles III and Queen Camilla on their return to Royal Ascot
King Charles III and Queen Camilla endured disappointment on the opening day of Royal Ascot as their horse, Reaching High, failed to back up his status as favorite in one of the big races. Going off at odds of 3-1, Reaching High got stuck near the rail and was never in contention to win the Ascot Stakes, finishing in ninth place under jockey Ryan Moore. He was the only runner for the king and queen on the first day of the prestigious, high-end meeting that mixes elite sport on the course with style and fashion off it. Hours earlier, the monarchs arrived at the course at the head of the traditional carriage procession in front of tens of thousands of racegoers. The royal procession is celebrating its 200th anniversary, with the tradition beginning during the reign of George IV in 1825 when the monarch was accompanied by the Duke of Wellington. Writing in Royal Ascot's official program, the king and queen said: 'Having experienced the thrill of victory at Royal Ascot ourselves in 2023, we can only wish all those competing this week the very best of luck and that everyone watching has a most enjoyable five days.' They will have to wait for their own winner, though, with Ascending triumphing at 20-1. The late Queen Elizabeth II was a passionate owner and breeder of thoroughbreds and had more than 20 Royal Ascot winners during her 70-year reign. Charles and Camilla have taken on her stable of horses and enjoyed their first Royal Ascot winner in 2023, when Desert Hero triumphed in the King George V Stakes. ___

Royal Ascot Lucky 15 tips: Day 2
Ron Wood has picked out a Lucky 15 for Royal Ascot day two, as well as his best each-way bet. If you already have a Sky Bet account and are looking for a new bookmaker to use for this week's racing, check out more free bets from the best betting sites, reviewed by our experts. Royal Ascot Day 2 Lucky 15 tips The first horse in this Lucky 15 bet is SHACKLETON in the Group 2 Queen's Vase (3.05). A low draw is handy in this 1m 6f race, so he looks well berthed in stall three, and he's a likely improver for Aidan O'Brien, who has trained the winner of this race five times in the past 10 years. Even under a 3lb penalty, CINDERELLA'S DREAM has strong claims in the following race, the Duke of Cambridge Stakes (3.40), another Group 2 contest over a mile. She steps down in trip but has a good change of pace and most of her main rivals ideally want further. The Royal Hunt Cup (5.00) is one of Royal Ascot's biggest handicap races and Sky Bet is paying out on seven places. SILAWI looks to have fair claims of getting in among these positions. He won well at Windsor on his recent stable debut and he's still well weighted under his penalty. The final leg of this Lucky 15 bet is OLD IS GOLD in the closing race of the day, the 5f Windsor Castle Stakes (6.10). He confirmed his debut promise when winning a strong Beverley race in a good time and he has decent claims of making the first five, which Sky Bet is paying out on in this race. Shackleton (3.05, Ascot) @ 11/4 with Sky Bet (1/5 for first 4 places) Cinderella's Dream (3.40, Ascot) @ 13/8 with Sky Bet (1/5 for first 3 places) Silawi (5.00, Ascot) @ 20/1 with Sky Bet (1/5 for first 7 places) Old Is Gold (6.10, Ascot) @ 11/2 with Sky Bet (1/5 for first 5 places) A £0.10p each-way Lucky 15 – for a total stake of £3 – on those four horses offers a potential return of £294.94. Royal Ascot Day 2 each-way tip OLD IS GOLD looks a sound bet at 11/2 in the Windsor Castle Stakes (6.10), with Sky Bet paying five places for each-way bets. His debut third over course and distance is strong form and he confirmed that promise when winning another decent race at Beverley in a sharp time. Last year's winner of the Beverley race went on to win the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot. In addition, Old Is Gold's trainer Andrew Balding saddled the winner of the Beverley event in 2022, Chateau, who went on to finish fourth in the Windsor Castle Stakes. There seems a fair chance this one can get in the money as well and he might prove good enough to win. Odds provided by Sky Bet and correct at the time of writing.
