Rogers schools form task force over high school disparities

Yahoo10-05-2025

ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Rogers Public Schools said it is forming a task force to tackle 'disparities' between its two largest campuses, Rogers High and Rogers Heritage High.
Despite being just a few miles apart, Rogers High has about 500 more students. The new task force, made up of community and faculty members, will focus on six key issues affecting the district.
Superintendent of Rogers Public Schools, Dr. Jeff Perry, said the main focus will be narrowing the enrollment gap between the two schools, citing economic development as the reason for the lopsided attendance.
'One of the things was the economic disparities that have occurred within the district just as the majority of our economic development has occurred on one side of the town as opposed to the other one,' Perry said.

Additionally, the task force will examine athletics, academics, and extracurriculars as areas that could present challenges for the district in the future.
Perry said the next step is to finalize a plan for the school board later this month; once approved by both the board and task force, it will be shared with the community for feedback.
'We want to make sure that we have the variety of programming, that we have the quality of programming, and that we are meeting the needs of our customers, which are parents and community members,' Perry said.
