Gillam woman charged in killing of 65-year-old: Manitoba RCMP
A Manitoba woman has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 65-year-old man in Gillam, RCMP say.
Officers were called to a home in the community just before 1 a.m. Friday, where they found the victim with critical injuries. He was later pronounced dead at the scene, and the suspect, 22, was arrested.
Police said the victim and suspect knew each other.

Jodi Ann Ouskan of Gillam was taken into custody and will appear in court Monday.
Local RCMP, along with the Mounties' major crime and forensic identification services, continue to investigate.

St. Stephen's teen charged with impaired driving causing death in 2024 crash
Police have charged a 19-year-old man with impaired driving causing death after a 2024 single-vehicle crash on Route 10 in Portugal Cove South, N.L. The RCMP said 19-year-old Riley White of St. Stephen's was served a summons for court on Friday to face the charge, along with charges of impaired operation, impaired operation with a blood alcohol concentration above the legal limit and impaired operation with a blood alcohol and blood drug concentration above the prescribed limit. Police say the crash happened on the morning of Aug. 18. Ferryland RCMP responded to the crash where a vehicle departed the roadway and caught fire. The deceased woman, 18, was a passenger of the vehicle and ejected. She later died at the hospital, the RCMP said. White was treated for his injuries and a blood sample was tested as part of the investigation. White also faces charges under the Highway Traffic Act of driving without due care causing death and crossing a solid line. The police investigation is continuing, Monday's news release said. White is scheduled to appear in court on July 18.

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Darryl Dyck Mounties say a woman has been arrested and is facing a charge of first-degree murder in the killing of a 30-year-old man on Vancouver Island nearly four years ago. Desiree Mosher was arrested by members of the Nanaimo RCMP's serious crime unit on the morning of June 6, according to a statement from police on Monday. Mosher has been charged in the death of Ryan Mosher, whose body was found during a wellness check at a Nanaimo home on Aug. 12, 2021. The deceased had recently moved to Nanaimo from Kelowna, and police were conducting the wellness check at the request of the Kelowna RCMP. 'His death was considered suspicious and the Nanaimo RCMP serious crime unit was called to take conduct of the homicide investigation with assistance from Kelowna RCMP,' the Nanaimo RCMP said in a release shortly after man's body was discovered. 'We strongly believe Mr. Mosher's death is an isolated incident and the general public is not considered to be at risk,' Nanaimo RCMP Const. Derek Balderston said in the release. The suspect remains in police custody with a court appearance scheduled on June 16.

N.S. RCMP search for person involved in alleged sexual assault against youth

(David Prisciak/CTV News) Police in Nova Scotia's Annapolis Valley are asking the public for help identifying a person involved in an alleged sexual assault against a youth. Kings District RCMP responded to a report of a sexual assault on a walking trail between Northeast Kings Education Centre and the Glooscap District Arena in Canning on Friday around 3:40 p.m. 'Responding officers learned that approximately 10 minutes prior, a male assaulted then sexually assaulted a youth victim who was walking to the arena from the school,' reads a news release from the Nova Scotia RCMP. Officers searched the area, with the help of RCMP Police Dog Services, but were not able to locate the suspect. 'I want to assure everyone in our communities that this investigation is a top priority for us. We have engaged various specialized units to assist our committed local investigators,' said Staff Sgt. Ed Nugent in the release. Police say the suspect is believed to be a male youth, who is described as white, five-foot-five, with a heavy build. At the time of the incident police say he was wearing a ski mask, red shirt and winter gloves.
