Broadway Box Office: ‘Redwood' Ends Run With Momentum, Clooney Stays on Top
Good Night, and Good Luck, starring George Clooney, remained the top grossing show on Broadway last week, bringing in $3.95 million and playing to more than 100 percent capacity at the Winter Garden Theater.
The play announced last week that it plans to stream the show live on CNN on June 7.

As has been the trend, Othello, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, was the second highest grossing show of the week, with $3.2 million and playing to 100 percent capacity. The play commanded the highest average ticket price on Broadway with $384.23, compared to $315.52 at Good Night, and Good Luck, the next highest on the boards.
The top five grossing shows were rounded by Glengarry Glen Ross, starring Kieran Culkin, Bill Burr and Bob Odenkirk, with $2.4 million, Wicked with $2.1 million and The Lion King with $1.8 million.
In its closing week, Redwood, starring Idina Menzel, saw its grosses gain momentum, swinging up $200,000 to gross $818,697 and playing to 85 percent capacity. However, the highest gross of its run was achieved during its opening week, when it hit $988,796. The musical played its final performance May 18, after getting shut out of the Tony Awards. The show opened at the Nederlander Theatre Feb. 13.
Other shows trended down in their grosses and attendance last week, including Boop The Musical, which scored a Tony nomination for its lead actress as well as for costume design and choreography, but missed out on the coveted best musical nomination. The show saw its grosses fall close to $40,000 to reach $476,429 last week. It played to 77 percent capacity at the Broadhurst Theatre.
Real Women Have Curves also saw a drop in gross and capacity last week, hitting $351,281 and playing to 63 percent capacity at the James Earl Jones Theatre. The show earned a Tony nomination for best score and for one of its leading actresses, but also missed out on the best musical nomination.

Fetterman chief of staff departing amid office turnover
Sen. John Fetterman's chief of staff Krysta Juris is departing her role and the office is elevating another adviser to fill the position, the Pennsylvania Democrat said on Tuesday. 'I'm grateful for Krysta's work. She's been an invaluable member of the team for over two years and I wish her all the best,' Fetterman said in a statement his office provided to CNN. In the statement, he also announced that Cabelle St. John will take on the role, describing her as 'a trusted advisor since day 1 in the office.' Fetterman's office is known to have had notable staff turnover though Juris' departure, which was first reported by Axios, comes at a time when the senator is facing increased scrutiny. In an interview with CNN last month, Fetterman roundly dismissed allegations that he's unfit to serve in the Senate, attacking a recent report detailing claims of erratic behavior as a 'hit piece' and vowing to serve out his term. The senator pushed back on assertions from former and current staffers published in New York Magazine that he had been exhibiting reckless and volatile behavior. 'It's a one-source hit piece, and it involved maybe two or three and anonymous disgruntled staffers saying just absolute false things,' Fetterman told CNN at the time. Fetterman has before been open about receiving treatment for clinical depression. He checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to receive treatment for clinical depression in 2023 and has spoken out about how his 2022 campaign worsened his mental health. The New York Magazine report detailed on the record allegations from a former staffer and anonymous allegations from current staffers that Fetterman might be off his medication. The senator denied any suggestion that he may not be taking his medication, saying his doctors think he is 'great,' and that he has been attending regular check-ups and following his wellness regimen. Adding to the mounting scrutiny, the Philadelphia Inquirer's editorial board published a scathing op-ed on Sunday, criticizing the senator for missing votes and regularly skipping committee hearings. The board wrote, 'It's time for Fetterman to serve Pennsylvanians, or step away.' Fetterman addressed the op-ed on Monday at a forum with fellow Pennsylvania Sen. Dave McCormick, a Republican, that aired on Fox Nation, shrugging it off as 'just not accurate.' 'I'm here, I'm doing that job,' Fetterman added. The senator told CNN last month that he plans on serving out the remaining four years of his Senate term but would not say whether he plans on running for reelection for his competitive seat in 2028. 'We're not talking about '28,' Fetterman told CNN. 'Who knows what's going to happen in '28.'

And to make matters worse for the KAT camp, James L. Edwards III and Fred Katz of The Athletic dropped a massive article on what went wrong with the Knicks' playoff run that painted the stretch big in a not-so-pleasant light. 'Publicly, Knicks players made veiled comments all season about poor communication causing their inconsistencies,' Edwards III and Katz wrote. 'Behind the scenes, they and coaches expressed frustration with Towns' defensive habits — less concerned with his talent level and more with his process on that end. Too often, Towns executed incorrect coverages without communicating why he did it. After it became a theme, players worried Towns didn't grasp the importance of the matter.' While Towns wasn't exactly known for his ability to play solid defense during his run with the Timberwolves, he was targeted often during the Knicks' playoff run, to the point where games often came down to how many shots he made versus how many he gave up. Advertisement 'They all talk to me. But they didn't talk to each other in real-time, in those situations,' Tucker told The Athletic. 'The situations to get stops, to have help, you know what I'm saying? That, to me, we have talent, but that's 80 percent of everything else – being able to communicate, be able to get stops, to be on the same page on offense, and be able to read each other. We needed to do those things instead of putting our hands up and looking at each other. It's changed. Do I think it needs to get better? One hundred percent. But it's come a long way since I've got here, for sure.' While these comments might not have read as an indictment on KAT's play at the time, there's a reason why Edwards III and Katz included it during their story immediately after commenting on his lack of defensive effort. If the Knicks are going to blast past the Eastern Conference Finals and return to the NBA Finals for the first time this century, it will need to be addressed one way or another.
