Jason Momoa to host Ozzy Osbourne's farewell show at Villa Park
Jason Momoa has been announced as the host for Ozzy Osbourne's farewell show at Birmingham's Villa Park this summer, alongside a whole new host of additions to an already-stacked bill.
Today (February 17) sees confirmation of Tool, Guns N' Roses and Rival Sons as part of what is being billed as 'the greatest heavy metal show ever'.
The show will see the first ever Black Sabbath line-up of Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward all reunite, though Ozzy has said his health issues mean will he perform 'little bits and pieces' throughout the day as opposed to a full set.
It will be Osbourne's last live performance and also playing will be the likes of Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, Anthrax and Mastodon.
There will also be a 'supergroup of musicians' which includes Guns 'n' Roses' Duff McKagan and Slash, The Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan, Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst and Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello, who will be the musical director of the show.
Osbourne said: 'It's my time to go Back to the Beginning….time for me to give back to the place where I was born.
'How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.'
Tickets for 'Back To The Beginning' went on sale last Friday and sold out within minutes. All profits from the gig will go to Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham Children's Hospital and Acorn Children's Hospice, a Children's Hospice supported by Aston Villa.
Last May, bassist Geezer Butler said that he and Osbourne had 'agreed' to play one more show at Birmingham's Villa Park before he truly retires. It came after Osbourne said he would 'jump at the chance' to play a final show with Sabbath and admitted he felt 'sad' that drummer Bill Ward was not part of the group's final show in 2017.
Osbourne also told Rolling Stone UK that he may have to 'accept the fact' that a live comeback isn't feasible due to his Parkinson's Disease.

Sharon Osbourne Makes Unexpected Change to Black Sabbath Final Concert Lineup
Sharon Osbourne revealed she was forced to remove a band from the lineup of Black Sabbath's long-awaited Back to the Beginning concert next month. In an interview with Metal Hammer, the wife of Ozzy Osbourne, who manages the rock legend's career, explained that she got into a dispute with the manager of one of the bands that had been previously announced for the show. 'I had a huge, huge to-do with a manager over this celebration for Ozzy and Sabbath,' Osbourne told the outlet. 'And it was probably the worst way I've felt in years. And I don't care what this person says about me, thinks about it, because he doesn't know me. And he's now going around making up bulls--- lies because I threw his band off the bill.' Osbourne quickly shut down speculation that the band she kicked off was Iron Maiden, despite her past criticism of lead singer Bruce Dickinson. As recently as 2022, Osbourne described Dickinson as a 'f---ing a--hole' in an interview with Consequence that rehashed his disrepectful behavior at Ozzfest two decades ago. The Back to the Beginning concert is set for July 5 at Villa Park, Birmingham, England. Ozzy Osbourne will reunite with his Black Sabbath bandmates Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward for the final performance of his career. A flyer for the farewell show teases the addition of Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice in Chains, Lamb of God, Anthrax, and Mastodon to the lineup. There's also a long list of solo performers scheduled for the event. Tool and Rival Sons were listed on a previous flyer posted to Reddit. While she stayed mum on the booted band's identity, Osbourne, whose father, Don Arden, was the longtime manager for Black Sabbath, told Metal Hammer that the biggest thing she learned from her dad was, 'you've got to fight…that you can't let people take advantage of you. ' 'My father was extremely confrontational,' she added. 'Sometimes he took it too far.'Sharon Osbourne Makes Unexpected Change to Black Sabbath Final Concert Lineup first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 10, 2025

Legendary Guitarist, 77, Shares Fears Ahead of Final Show
Legendary Guitarist, 77, Shares Fears Ahead of Final Show originally appeared on Parade. They say you only get one chance to make a good first impression. For Tony Iommi, he's worried about making a good final impression. Advertisement Iommi will wrap his illustrious career on July 5 when he and the rest of Black Sabbath—Ozzy Osbourne, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler—play Back To The Beginning. The landmark metal event, happening at Villa Park in Black Sabbath's hometown of Birmingham, will be the final time that these four share the stage, and that has Iommi feeling the pressure. "This would be a big, monumental thing if it all comes good," he told Metal Week(per Metal Hammer), adding that he feels "excitement mixed with fear" in the lead-up to this farewell performance. "The worrying thing for me is the unknown. We don't know what's going to happen," he explained. "Normally, when we'd tour, we'd rehearse and run through the thing for a while, and it's just us. But with this event, there are so many other moving parts." Advertisement Additionally, fellow rockers such as Wolfgang Van Halen, Billy Corgan, K.K. Downing, Jonathan Davis, and Zakk Wylde will perform, with people forming supergroups throughout the event. "You're used to Ozzy running around," said Iommi, but he certainly won't be doing that for this show." Osbourne, who will also perform a solo set before joining Black Sabbath, has publicly disclosed his struggles to walk due to Parkinson's disease. Iommi said he didn't know if his bandmate was "going to be standing or sitting on a throne or what" when he closes out the night. And Iommi stressed that this is the band's finale. Advertisement "It's absolutely the end," he said. "This show has come up because of the situation [Ozzy's health] and because it's a charity thing. But there's no way we could go out and do a tour. Everybody in the band is looking forward to doing it, though it's a nerve-wracking thing, as we'll be touching on some stuff that we haven't done for a long time." Sharon Osbourne Booted a Band Off Lineup of Final Black Sabbath Concert
The post Sharon Osbourne Booted a Band Off Lineup of Final Black Sabbath Concert appeared first on Consequence. Sharon Osbourne has revealed that she booted a band off the lineup of the upcoming 'Back to the Beginning' concert featuring the final performances of Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. The wife and manager of Ozzy told Metal Hammer that an argument with the undisclosed act's manager led to her decision to disinvite the band from playing the historic all-day concert event being held July 5th at Villa Park in Birmingham, England. 'I had a huge, huge to-do with a manager over this celebration for Ozzy and Sabbath,' revealed Sharon. 'And it was probably the worst way I've felt in years. And I don't care what this person says about me, thinks about it, because he doesn't know me. And he's now going around making up bullshit lies because I threw his band off the bill.' She continued, 'I don't care what people say. Because do you know what? I don't love them. I care about people who love me, what they say about me. You can't care what an industry says, because you don't love them, so how can it hurt you? It doesn't.' When asked by Metal Hammer if it was Iron Maiden — as Sharon famously feuded with singer Bruce Dickinson on the 2005 edition of Ozzfest — she replied, 'Oh god, no. Ozzy only has respect for the guys in Maiden. And he didn't even know what Bruce was doing [during Ozzfest]. I never told him, until the night that it happened when it was the last show, and he just looked at me and goes, 'You're terrible.'' Meanwhile, there was speculation that Sharon was referring to Tool, whose name was conspicuously missing from the promotion of the recently announced paid livestream of the 'Back to the Beginning' concert. However, that turned out to be a design oversight, and Tool's name has since been added. In addition to Sabbath and Ozzy, the concert will feature performances from Tool, Metallica, Guns N' Roses, Slayer, Pantera, Alice in Chains, and dozens of other notable rock and metal acts. As mentioned, a global livestream is available to purchase for $29.99.
