Playing St. Andrews' Old Course for less than $50? It's possible, but there's a hitch
Golfers are being given the chance to play the famous Old Course at St. Andrews for less than $50, rather than the usual fees of around $400, but there is a hitch.
The move is part of a new initiative by St. Andrews Links Trust, named 'Drive,' to widen access to its courses. St. Andrews Links Trust has revealed that, between May and October, 179 tee times will be made available at a reduced price for 'golf enthusiasts who live in Scotland.' International players are not eligible for the reduced rate.
It added that, as a result, 716 golfers will have the opportunity to access tee times across the Old, Castle, Jubilee and Eden courses at an 87.5% reduction on the 'regular high season' green fees.
St. Andrews Links Trust said: 'This means that a round on the Old Course will be available for £42.50 rather than £340, while on The Castle Course a round will cost £22.50, down from £180.'
The initiative is aimed at people who 'love golf, play golf and haven't had the chance to play golf in St. Andrews'. Applicants must be residents of Scotland.
St. Andrews Links Trust said: 'Across the world, green fees have been increasing, with some courses in the UK now charging £1,000 for a round. As a charity, the Links Trust has a responsibility to grow the sport and wants to buck this global trend by finding ways to make golf more accessible for all.'
It added that all tee times in the initiative will be from existing visitor allocations, and offered at the reduced green fee rate 'to offer the opportunity for those who may not normally be able to experience the Home of Golf.'
The first stage of the project to widen access to what St. Andrews Links Trust described as 'some of the world's most iconic golf courses' will see 11 tee times made available on the Old Course on May 21.
The trust said that players keen to participate will be encouraged to sign up in a two-ball ballot, and successful applicants will then be paired up and allocated a tee time.
It added: 'Over the last six years, the Links Trust has seen unprecedented demand from ticket holders and visitors as golf has enjoyed a surge in popularity.
'However, as a charitable trust, part of the organisation's mission is to ensure the advancement of public participation in sport - a goal this new initiative will help support.'
The trust revealed that, should the initiative prove successful, it intends to 'further increase opportunities in 2026 and beyond.'
Neil Coulson, chief executive of St. Andrews Links Trust, said: 'As the Home of Golf, St. Andrews Links Trust takes its responsibility to the sport incredibly seriously. That is why we are so excited to launch a new initiative offering golfers across Scotland the opportunity to play our historic and iconic courses at a lower price.
'Widening access to golf is a key objective for us, and over the coming years we hope we can continue to provide opportunities to golfers of all ages and abilities.'
He added: 'Golf has become increasingly popular in recent years and, with this, demand for our courses has surged to unprecedented levels. We will continue to ensure that our ticket holders and visitors have the best experience possible, while ensuring that one of the country's most precious golfing assets is available for the public too.'

Down Nearly 60%, Should You Buy the Dip on SoundHound AI?

SoundHound AI is growing rapidly, but it's racking up steep losses. Its growing dependence on acquisitions raises a few red flags. A lot of growth has already been baked into its valuations. 10 stocks we like better than SoundHound AI › SoundHound AI (NASDAQ: SOUN), a developer of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered audio recognition tools, saw its stock close at a record high of $24.23 on Dec. 26, 2024. But since then, its stock has declined nearly 60%. Let's see why this hot stock fizzled out -- and if its pullback represents a buying opportunity for long-term investors. SoundHound AI's namesake app identifies songs by listening to several seconds of recorded audio or a few hummed bars. However, most of its growth is fueled by Houndify, its developer platform, which allows businesses to create their own custom voice recognition tools. Houndify powers voice recognition features in restaurant ordering platforms, smart TVs, connected cars, and other devices. It's an appealing option for companies that don't want to send data to Microsoft, Alphabet's Google, or other tech giants that provide their own data-gathering voice recognition services. SoundHound AI initially attracted a lot of attention for three reasons. First, its revenue surged 47% in 2022, rose another 47% in 2023, and jumped 85% in 2024. Second, the booming AI market drove a stampede of bulls to its AI-driven stock. Lastly, the AI chipmaking bellwether Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) boosted its stake in SoundHound and integrated its voice recognition tools into its Drive platform for connected vehicles. Yet Soundify's stock stumbled for three reasons. First, most of its growth in 2023 and 2024 was driven by acquisitions -- including the restaurant AI company SYNQ3, the online food ordering platform Allset, and the conversational AI company Amelia. That strategy strengthened its position in the restaurant industry, but it also indicated it was running out of room to grow. Second, those acquisitions made it even tougher to break even. Its adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margins came in at negative 73% last year -- which broadly missed its original target of achieving a positive adjusted EBITDA margin by 2024. Lastly, Nvidia liquidated its entire position in SoundHound AI earlier this year. SoundHound ended 2024 with a backlog of $1.2 billion, and it already serves big automakers like Stellantis, quick-serve restaurants like Chipotle, healthcare institutions like MUSC Health, and tech giants like Tencent. Automakers are adding more voice-activated features to their vehicles, restaurants are using more of its AI tools to process their drive-thru and phone orders, and healthcare institutions are processing more patient requests with Amelia's AI chatbots. SoundHound could still have plenty of room to expand. From 2025 to 2035, the global voice agents market could grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 34.8%, according to market research firm as more companies replace their human workers with AI-powered voice agents. For 2025, SoundHound expects its revenue to surge 97%. From 2024 to 2027, analysts expect its revenue to rise at a CAGR of 48%, from $85 million to $277 million. They also expect it to finally squeeze out a positive adjusted EBITDA of $5 million in 2027. That outlook seems promising, but a lot of its future growth has already been baked into its valuations. With a market cap of $4.1 billion, it already trades at 25.5 times this year's sales. It's also more than doubled its number of shares since it went public by merging with a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) just over three years ago, and that dilution will likely continue as it relies on its secondary offerings to raise fresh cash and its stock-based compensation to subsidize its salaries and acquisitions. So while SoundHound AI is still growing rapidly, it hasn't proven that it deserves its premium valuation or that its business model is sustainable. I might nibble on the stock after its recent pullback -- since its core market is still expanding -- but I wouldn't go all in until it meaningfully narrows its losses. You can now ask Google Drive to catch you up on file changes your colleagues made

Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority TL;DR Google has announced a 'Catch me up' feature for Google Drive. This feature summarizes changes made to your files since you last viewed them. The feature is available now but is currently restricted to English. Google has brought generative AI features to many products and services, and the company's productivity tools are no exception. Now, the company is using Gemini to bring you up to speed on file changes in Google Drive. The company announced a 'Catch me up' feature in Google Drive yesterday (June 3), which summarizes the changes made to your file since you last viewed it. This feature can be activated by visiting Google Drive's home page and tapping the star icon next to your file's name. You can also tap the 'Catch me up' button at the top of your home page to view a summary of changes to all your files since you last viewed them. 'Starting today, Gemini can identify relevant files from a user's Drive with changes since it was last viewed and provide an overview of those changes,' the company explained. Google added that 'Catch me up' supports file edits in Google Docs as well as file comments in Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Google stressed that summaries delivered by the feature aren't comprehensive, saying that it aims to reveal 'helpful and important' changes. This could be handy if you frequently collaborate with colleagues and others on documents, spreadsheets, and other files. Google's productivity tools do allow you to track changes via the version history page, while also letting you view comments and other annotations from others within the file. However, this is an easier way to quickly get up to speed on edits and feedback from contributors. In any event, 'Catch me up' started rolling out yesterday but is restricted to English for now. Not seeing it just yet? The company says you might have to wait up to 15 days to see the feature. Got a tip? Talk to us! Email our staff at Email our staff at news@ . Ada and SPARK enter the automotive ISO-26262 market with NVIDIA

NEW YORK, June 04, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--High-integrity software tooling experts, AdaCore, are delighted to announce the introduction of the Ada and SPARK programming languages into the automotive market. Together with their partner NVIDIA, they are set to publish an off-the-shelf reference process, allowing others to follow their lead. NVIDIA developed Drive® OS, the reference operating system and associated software stack designed specifically for developing and deploying autonomous vehicle applications on DRIVE AGX-based hardware. This system includes software components that comply with the highest levels of integrity of the automotive certification standard ISO-26262. To achieve that effort, NVIDIA selected these languages to develop some of the most critical components of its software stack. This required establishing a development process that takes advantage of formal methods and other safety characteristics of Ada and SPARK, thus fully leveraging their capabilities. AdaCore and NVIDIA have decided to publish this reference process freely as an open-source and evolving document, allowing the industry at large to adopt Ada and SPARK. "As the added value of the automotive industry turns more and more from mechanical to software features, achieving software safety at the highest levels becomes one of the most critical challenges of modern car development," says Quentin Ochem, Chief Product and Revenue Officer at AdaCore. "NVIDIA demonstrates truly remarkable technical leadership in the domain by introducing Ada and SPARK into its development process and allowing the rest of the community to follow its path." The ISO-26262 reference process is available on and can be used or customized freely by anyone interested in adopting these languages. About AdaCore AdaCore equips developers to create reliable, safe, and secure software. For over 30 years, we have supported and provided open-source toolchains for languages relevant to the safety-critical space, including Ada/SPARK, C/C++, and Rust. We build our toolchains to meet the most rigorous standards so you can focus on your code and reach your certification goals. AdaCore supports high-integrity industries by offering compiler-toolchain and analysis-tool qualification, along with certification evidence for compliance with industry standards. With a commitment to long-term support, AdaCore ensures the continuity and reliability of its toolchains for decades. View source version on Contacts Media contact: Andrea Bristol: bristol@
