Dallas Stars' coach, Pete DeBoer, drags Connor McDavid into the controversy but gets brutally trolled by fans
The Dallas Stars' coach, Pete DeBoer, spoke to the media about Darnell Nurse receiving a two minute minor penalty and dragged Connor McDavid into it.
Pete DeBoer said, "I'll answer your question with a question…Does anyone in this room think if Connor McDavid gets carried off the ice like that, it's not a five-minute major?"
However, this has not gone down well with fans.
A fan commented, 'I get that DeBoer is sticking up for his guy as a good coach should. But really? Hintz to Mcdavid. These players aren't close in value to their teams or, more importantly, for the product of the NHL.'
Another fan wrote, 'Hintz is a good player, but not to be compared with McDavid! There have been a lot worse calls, or non-calls in the playoffs this year than that one. DeBoer should spend less time complaining and more time figuring out why his team has been shutout in 3 of their last 7 games.'
A third fan wrote, 'I do think that if Connor got carried off the ice there might not be a reaction from the league. The NHL hates the Canadian teams', while another fan posted, 'Keep crying dude. So they give him the 5min major: You're still losing the game because you played like a*s and got the brakes beat off you.'
A fifth fan noted, 'Pete do you pay any attention to Mcdavid? Most of the time any slashes or trips on Mcdavid aren't called. So you can shove that theory!'
Connor McDavid, the captain of the Edmonton Oilers, has yet to react to Pete DeBoer's statement against his team.
