Why today's young stars are all borrowing supermodel Claudia Schiffer's iconic 90s style

Daily Maila day ago

, Elsa Hosk, and Dua Lipa are among the A-listers who have drawn style inspiration from a true Nineties catwalk icon.
From blinging bikinis to retro Versace prints and sheer dresses with giant corsage hairpieces, as well as vintage Chanel, it's fair to say these looks have stood the test of time.
But rather than be annoyed that her looks are being emulated, supermodel Claudia Schiffer is delighted that her fashion choices are providing such inspiration - and they have proven to be a rousing success.
But who wore it best?
Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner showed off her incredible figure in the same glamorous bikini Claudia Schiffer wore more than 30 years ago.
The 27-year-old paid nearly $14,000 for the gem-encrusted two piece from Chanel which the now-54-year-old modeled in 1995.
Captioning her Instagram post, 'No place i'd rather beeee', Kylie showed off her jaw-dropping physique while vacationing in Turks and Caicos.
In an Instagram post of her own on Wednesday, Claudia revealed that she had first wowed in that very bikini for luxury brand Chanel all the way back in the mid-90s.
Sharing snaps of both her younger self and Kylie sporting the look, the 54-year-old model wrote: '@KylieJenner sparkling in this stunning bikini I wore on the @Chanel Official spring '95 runway.'
Kylie is far from the first of the famous Jenner/Kardashian family to lift a look from Claudia's impressive back catalog - the German has previously singled out Kylie's older sister Kim for the way she interpreted one of her looks.
Elsa Hosk
Fellow model Elsa Hosk paid homage to Claudia at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
The Swedish model, 36, arrived on the red carpet in a black bodycon gown by Mugler, which Claudia wore in 1995.
Just like Claudia did in the nineties, Elsa teamed the glamorous look with pearl necklaces and flower clips in her hair.
Even Claudia was impressed by Elsa's recreation of her look as she took to Instagram to praise the 'beautiful' model.
Claudia wrote: 'The archival looks at @festivaldecannes just keep coming! The beautiful @hoskelsa wearing a @muglerofficial gown I wore on the Fall/Winter 1995 runway.'
Elsa wrote in the comments: 'You're always the inspiration. Icon forever.'
Ariana Greenblatt
Also channeling Claudia during Cannes Film Festival in May was Ariana Greenblatt.
The 17-year-old wore an archival Karl Lagerfeld–era Chanel corset that Claudia debuted in 1993.
The chic look - which is exactly 15 years older than Ariana - paid homage to Claudia.
Impressed by her ensemble, Claudia wrote on Instagram: 'Love seeing this look have a second life! @Ariana_Greenblatt looking fabulous in the corset I wore on the @ChanelOfficial Spring '93 runway'
Sabrina Carpenter and Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway looked captivating in a green Versace gown in 2023 that Claudia debuted on the runway during Milan Fashion Week just days earlier -with matching silver accessories.
The actress completed the look with a pair of chrome pointed-toe heels with bows.
While the dress wasn't one of Claudia's archival looks from the nineties, it certainly went down a hit with Anne and Sabrina Carpenter after they both copied the look.
Sabrina rocked Claudia's Versace look with an added twist as she took to the stage during her tour in 2024.
The pop star opted to turn the dress into a mini version for her performance.
Claudia shared a photo of the singer on her Instagram Stories and wrote: 'Love to see this dress living so many lives!
'@SabrinaCarpenter you wear it well.'
Dua Lipa
White hot: Dua Lipa arrived at the 2023 Met Gala in Claudia's vintage Chanel gown paired with a 225-carat diamond necklace
Dua Lipa radiated the energy of a princess as she wore a vintage Chanel gown, previously modeled by Claudia, to the 2023 Met Gala.
The 27-year-old was stunning in Chanel FW92 Couture, styled by Lorenzo Posocco - originally worn by Claudia in 1992.
The singer's stunning tweed ballgown - designed by Karl Lagerfeld himself - was embellished with black and white detailing, and completed with tassels at the bottom.
The tight bodice and puffed-out skirt emphasized her tiny waist and added to the elegant look.
Claudia wrote on Instagram: 'I always love seeing these special looks live a second life @dualipa @chanelofficial.'

The Three Lions leading goalscorer is worth £100m, while the One Kiss singer is valued slightly higher at £115m. It would be the largest prize awarded in the UK if won by a single ticket-holder, according to National Lottery operator Allwyn. The EuroMillions prize pot is capped at £208m, with players having five prize draws to win the life-changing amount. If nobody wins this week, the fifth and final "Must Be Won" draw will take place later this week on Friday June 20. In the Must Be Won draw, if no ticket matches all five main numbers and two Lucky Stars, the entire jackpot prize will roll down into the prize tier where there is at least one winner - likely to be five main numbers and one Lucky Star. Andy Carter, senior winners' adviser at Allwyn, said: "Everyone dreams of that huge win when they buy their National Lottery ticket. "What a win like this can do for you, your nearest and dearest and the wider community really is incredible. "From private islands and private jets to really making a monumental difference to causes close to your heart, a £208 million EuroMillions jackpot win would mean pretty much anything is within reach. Man wins $800k at casino but is told he won't see a cent – he's being forced to sue for wanting to 'stay below radar' "Good luck to all UK EuroMillions players in tonight's draw." If one lucky winner takes home the entire sum, it will be a bigger win than the previous record of £195,707,000 set on July 19 2022. Already this month, seven UK players have won a portion of the prize money after matching five numbers and one lucky star. Five players won £3.6 million each on June 13, while another won £4.5 million on June 10, and another £2 million on June 6. Even winning smaller portions of the prize pot can be life-changing. Winners of over £10 million give away, on average, a quarter of their win (24.5%). A further 91% report that they give time and or money to support a charity, while 10% say they have made someone else a millionaire. With a prize pot this large, winners could donate a quarter to charity and still have plenty spare. They could even buy their own island, with Hummingbird Cay in the Bahamas currently being sold for £26 million - it also has space to moor your luxury yacht. "All you have to do to be in with a chance of actually living the dream is to simply buy a EuroMillions ticket. Good luck to all UK EuroMillions players in this Tuesday's draw!' UK's biggest lottery winners By Ethan Singh Anonymous winner - £195,707,000 A UK ticket-holder scooped the record EuroMillions jackpot of £195 million on July 19 2022 – the biggest National Lottery win of all time. The holder, who remains anonymous to this day, amassed the fortune with just one lucky ticket. Joe and Jess Thwaite - £184,262,899.10 Britain's previous EuroMillions record holders were Joe and Jess Thwaite. The couple won a record-breaking £184million jackpot in May 2022 and shared hopes of a Hawaiian holiday and a new horse box for their children's ponies. Joe bought his winning ticket online on May 10, 2022, and the following morning received an email with good news. As he learnt of the huge win, he was in disbelief and initially kept it for himself as he did not want to disturb his wife, who was sleeping. Joe, a communications sales engineer, and Jess, who runs a hairdressing salon with her sister, have been married for 11 years and have two children. Colin and Chris Weir, £161,653,000 Colin and Christine Weir landed the colossal prize money in 2011 and were Europe's second-biggest winners until someone in Italy won a jackpot worth £193m in 2019. They splashed the cash at an astounding rate of £100,000 a week before tragedy struck. But at the time of Colin's death in December 2019 his share of the prize money had dwindled by around £40m. He spent the millions living a life of luxury, forking out for sports cars, property and the football club he supported. Colin and Christine divorced shortly before his death after being married for 38 years. He left money for their children Carly and Jamie. Adrian and Gillian Brayford - £148,600,000 Adrian and Gillian won 190 million euros in a EuroMillions draw in August 2012, which came to just over £148 million. But Adrian split from Gillian the following year because of the stress of the win. The couple bought a Grade II listed estate in Cambridgeshire, complete with cinema and billiards room, but it was sold in 2021. After divorcing in 2013, he failed to woo ex-sausage factory worker Marta Jarosz — but fell for stable girl Sam Burbidge. She left him in 2017, taking 30 prize horses Adrian bought. It might have worked out in the end for Adrian though as the former postman was seen smiling with ambulance worker Tracey Biles last year. Frances and Patrick Connolly - £114,969,775 Former social worker and teacher Frances set up two charitable foundations after she and her husband hit the jackpot. They scooped almost £115 million on New Year's Day 2019. She estimates that she has already given away £60 million to charitable causes, as well as friends and family. Richard and Debbie Nuttall - £61,000,000 The couple from Colne, Lancashire, took home £61 million on January 30 2024. Both 54, they were enjoying a holiday in Fuerteventura, celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. But they then discovered the big EuroMillions win. Richard revealed they originally thought they had won £2.60, but then received another email telling the pair to check their account. Other eye-watering anonymous winners: 2019 - £123million Another anonymous winner scooped up a prize of £123,458,008 in the June Superdraw rollover. 2021 - £122million Following nine rollovers, one ticketholder bagged the £122,550,350 jackpot last April. The successful participant chose to remain anonymous. 2018 - £121million Another anonymous winner found their fortune during the Superdraw jackpot rollover in April 2018, securing £121,328,187.

Dua Lipa is opening a Radical Optimism pop-up shop in London this week

Pop superstar Dua Lipa is returning to London this week for two massive shows at Wembley Stadium. The British-Albanian singer is finally bringing the Radical Optimism tour to her home turf after taking it all around the world during the past year, including a triumphant Glastonbury headline set. Before Dua completes her London victory lap, she is doing something a little extra for the fans in the capital. The 'Houdini' singer has announced she is opening a pop-up shop in the Big Smoke in the lead up to the concerts. The Radical Optimism Pop-Up Shop will open in the city for four days this week, taking place in the run up to and during the Radical Optimism World Tour. The shop will be open from June 19 until June 22, open daily from 11am to 6pm. It will be located at Protein Studios in Shoreditch. The pop-up will be flogging Dua merch, while there will also be photo opportunities and a bar serving 'Dua's favourite drink' (although the drink hasn't been confirmed yet, our guess is on a dirty martini). There will also be an immersive experience taking fans 'inside the music of Radical Optimism '. That's presented in L-ISA Immersive Sound, the ultra-high resolution spatial audio technology from L-Acoustics. There will also be special perks for American Express card holders. See more about that here. Radical Optimism Pop-Up Shop, Protein Studios, 31 New Inn Yard, London, EC2A 3EY. Jun 19-22. Free. A new free lido will open in east London this summer.
