NCW condemns online trolling of Vikram Misri's daughter
The National Commission for Women has strongly condemned the online trolling of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, his family, and particularly his daughter in the wake of India and Pakistan reaching an understanding on May 10 to halt all military actions.
In a statement issued by NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, the panel denounced the sharing of the young woman's personal contact details, calling it a "grossly irresponsible act" and a "serious breach of privacy" that endangers her safety.
Ms. Rahatkar stressed that personal attacks on the family members of senior civil servants like Misri are not only unacceptable but also morally indefensible.
Calling for restraint and respect in both online and offline spaces, the NCW urged citizens to rise above such behaviour. "Let us choose dignity and responsible conduct," Ms. Rahatkar added.
The Misri family has also received support from veteran diplomat Nirupama ao and politicians Asaduddin Owaisi and Akhilesh Yadav.
"It's utterly shameful to troll Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and his family over the India-Pakistan ceasefire announcement. A dedicated diplomat, Misri has served India with professionalism and resolve, and there is no ground whatsoever for his vilification.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) Thursday wrote to West Bengal Director General of Police (DGP) Rajeev Kumar regarding the purported verbal abuse of a cop in Birbhum by Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Anubrata Mondal. According to the letter sent by Archana Majumdar, a member of the NCW, 'The National Commission for Women expresses deep concern over the apparent inaction by the state police in this matter, despite clear and widespread public outrage. This inaction not only emboldens such repeat offenders but also deeply undermines the morale of the police force and shakes public confidence in the neutrality and responsiveness of law enforcement agencies. You are aware that Mr Mondal has a long and well-documented history of intimidation, criminal conduct, and corruption, including arrest and custody by the CBI in previous cases.' Majumdar told media persons that 'the NCW has sought an action-taken report in the matter,' adding that 'if the wife and mother of the police officer face such a situation, then what is the condition of common citizens of the State.' The Commission has asked DGP Rajeev Kumar to submit the report within 72 hours from the time of receipt of the letter. After the audio of the telephone conversation went viral, sources said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has also started a fresh probe to find out whether any witness in the cattle-smuggling case had been similarly intimidated either by Mondal or any of his associates to change their statements. Reacting to the NCW notice, TMC spokesperson Joy Prakash Majumdar said, 'The NCW now is being used for political purposes, and it is sad that they have lost their independence and impartiality. In BJP-ruled states, there are reports of enormous misconduct against women… the NCW never utters a word or interferes in such states. On the other hand, in places like West Bengal, they make political statements for the benefit of the BJP.' A week after the audio conversation between Mondal and the police officer went viral, Mondal appeared before the sub-divisional police officer recently and recorded his statement. The TMC condemned Mondal's remarks and sought an apology from him, which he promptly complied with. Meanwhile, Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has announced that a 'Nari Samman Yatra' will be held in Bolpur on June 9. Speaking on the viral audio tape, Adhikari said, 'Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had taught Mondal what to say in the police station. After Bolpur's rally on June 9, the same yatra will take place in Nadia. I am expecting at least 10,000 people to attend the rally.' Mondal was arrested in August 2022 by the CBI in connection with the multi-crore cattle-smuggling case in West Bengal. Later, he was also arrested by the Enforcement Directorate. After spending over two years in Tihar Jail in New Delhi, Mondal was released on bail recently, following which he returned to his house in Bolpur under Birbhum district.

Pakistan acknowledges India struck 7 additional targets in Operation Sindoor: Here's what it reveals
A newly released Pakistani document has revealed previously undisclosed details about India's precision strikes during last month's four-day clashes, identifying at least seven previously unknown targets. The document lists Indian strikes in Peshawar (Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa), Attock, Bahawalnagar, Chhor, Hyderabad (Sindh), Gujrat, and Jhang (Punjab). According to a report by Hindustan Times, Bahawalnagar hosts an army cantonment, while Gujrat district houses Pakistan's largest cantonment in Kharian. India, U.K. discuss ways to boost ties in key sectors
India and the U.K. on Tuesday (June 3, 2025) held extensive talks boosting cooperation in areas such as defence and security, counter-terrorism, and green energy. The two sides discussed ways to expand the ties at the 17th India-U.K. foreign office consultations (FOC) and first strategic exports and technology cooperation dialogue. The Indian delegation was led by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri while the U.K. side was headed by Sir Oliver Robbins, Permanent Under-Secretary (PUS) at Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. In the FOC meeting, Misri conveyed India's appreciation for the British government's solidarity and support to India in its fight against terrorism. India and the U.K. are comprehensive strategic partners. "The FOC provided an opportunity to review and discuss the entire gamut of bilateral relations. Both sides welcomed the conclusion of the India-U.K. free trade agreement and double contribution convention," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. Last month, India and the U.K. sealed a landmark free trade agreement that will benefit 99% Indian exports from tariff and will make it easier for British firms to export whisky, cars and other products to India besides boosting overall trade basket. Along with the FTA -- the biggest the U.K. has done since leaving the European Union -- the two sides also sealed a double contribution convention. In their talks, Mr. Misri and Mr. Robbins discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment and financial sector, defence and security, counter-terrorism, technology, science, innovation, green energy, climate, health, education, and people-to-people relations, the MEA said in a statement. The two sides also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, including developments in Russia-Ukraine, Indo-Pacific and West Asia, it said.
