The Dallas Mavericks were one of the most disappointing teams coming around to the end of the regular season. After some questionable moves, the Mavs were seeing some massive shifts from their fan base as well. However, this will be subject to some change in light of recent events.

With particular reference to the Luka Doncic trade and the subsequent ignorance on the part of the front office, fans had every reason to be upset. But all of this stands to change as the Mavericks won the draft lottery on Monday night and came away with the No. 1 pick in this year's draft. After jumping up 10 spots, with a 1.8% chance of winning, Dallas now has an opportunity to draft a generational talent in Cooper Flagg to revitalize the franchise.
Flagg's potential arrival could mark a new era in Dallas. But more importantly, it has immediately recalibrated the way the Mavericks were conducting business. From offloading season tickets, the front office will now reap the benefits of drafting a star player as the team reports advertising a waitlist for next season.
This presents a great situation for the city of Dallas. Having already seen a first-overall pick in Paige Bueckers join Dallas' WNBA team, the Dallas Sky, having a No. 1 pick in the NBA as well, is unprecedented.
