I tried everything to fix my damaged hair from Olaplex to oiling – an odd-sounding £5 buy made my locks grow 4 inches
Plus, how the cheap buy really works MANE EVENT I tried everything to fix my damaged hair from Olaplex to oiling – an odd-sounding £5 buy made my locks grow 4 inches Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) DYEING hair is all fun and games until your locks end up damaged. However, one woman shared how her hair 'kept snapping off' until she tried one £5 bargain shampoo. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 4 Ava Louise claims nothing worked on her damaged dyed hair except a £5 product Credit: tiktok/@realavalouiise 4 She swore by Mane 'n Tail shampoo and conditioner Credit: supplied Ava Louise said she had tried everything to restore her locks, including Olaplex and K18, but they hadn't made any difference. She shared on her @realavalouiise account: 'Just wanted to share that I dyed my hair black when I was depressed then bleached it back. 'For 2 whole years my hair would not grow. 'I used K18, Olaplex, would sit for hours with all the top 'hair growth oils' on my head, bought the most expensive shampoo & products known to man. 'My hair kept snapping off.' However, everything changed for her when she stopped splashing out on pricey products. Ava added: 'A few months ago I stopped all product use, switched to mane & tail shampoo and suave conditioner. 'My hairs grown four inches and never breaks. 'I don't even use heat protector. 'No products at all just cheap drug store shampoo & conditioner.' Muireann O'Connell shares 'singed' hair fiasco Many people agreed that they loved the product, with one saying: 'Mane and tail fs I swear by it.' Another added: 'MANE AND TAIL IS HOW MY MOM GOT HAIR TO HER ASS.' However, a third wrote: 'I swear by olaplex, but it's VERY easy to overdo protein hair treatments and they'll literally turn healthy hair into brittle straw when you do.' You can pick up Mane n Tail shampoo for £5.49 from My Hair and Beauty, or it can be purchased for just £6 on Amazon. 4 Ava claimed her hair has grown four inches Credit: tiktok/@realavalouiise 4 TikTok user Elle McNamara (aka Bambi Does Beauty also raved about the viral shampoo Credit: TikTok/@bambidoesbeauty But what makes the product a hit with customers? According to the company's site, it is jam-packed with collagen, biotin, and keratin, which support cell growth, strengthen hair, and provide moisture to help maintain hair length. While many say it helps grow hair quickly (with some stating three inches of growth in just one month,) there might be something else at play. The hair range was originally created for horses, and was developed to repair split ends and prevent breakage. So, the quick hair growth people rave about might be from less breakage at the ends, rather than new hair coming from the root. Because the shampoo has added keratin, it's best to use it every other hair wash day rather than all the time. While keratin can make hair stronger, too much of it can make it brittle and more likely to snap off.

I've given my dated house an ‘Architectural Digest' level renovation – but people are baffled by the sellers' request

Jaci Smith, from the US, had purchased the home, but the previous owners begged her not to change a thing. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Jaci gave her new house an update despite the previous owners begging her not to Credit: tiktok/@jacimariesmith 2 People were baffled when they saw what the house looked like when she moved in Credit: tiktok/@jacimariesmith The young woman took to social media after she was told not to transform the property she had just bought. Some might assume the house must be of historical relevance or decorated lavishly to make the previous owners not want it to be changed. But Jaci showed that wasn't the case when she shared a picture of the bathroom. She said: "I post about the fact that the previous owners of the house we bought were begging us not to renovate the house, not to make any changes to it. "Number one, I think people assume it's rage bait. I wish it was number two, I think people also assume that the house that we bought is like a mid-century gem a house with so much historical character and that we are just these heartless people like ripping away this house." But Jaci showed that was definitely not the case. An image of the bathroom when they first moved in showed just how outdated and messy it looked. The loo and sink were covered in white, chunky wooden storage units that made the room outdated. The large storage units only cluttered the space, while a cheap mirror was hung above the sink. The bathtub was a chunky plastic white bath, with a showerhead hanging above. Shoppers urged 'not to blink' and get their hands on Home Bargains garden essential that sold out fast last time and it makes your garden extra cute - TikTok homebargainsofficialuk But now, Jaci showed how they had renovated the space. She ripped out the entire bathroom, swapping the once pink painted walls for an incredible blue tile with a marble effect. The chunky white bathtub had been gutted out and swapped for a luxury pink marble bathtub with gold finishing. She also made a built-in shelf into the wall by the bathtub to add extra storage. Jaci's transformation video went viral on TikTok @jacimariesmith with over 2 million views. People were stunned the previous owners were against the house being renovated, and were in awe of Jaci's new bathroom. One person wrote: "The new bathroom belongs in Architectural Digest." Another commented: 'My immediate assumption: There's something hidden in the walls/floors." "As someone who does real estate settlements for a living. So many people are like this. And it is in fact, wild.," penned a third. Those are like 90's style rental bathrooms lol." "My brain went straight to... ooh well it's haunted. They were looking out for you,' claimed a fifth. Someone else added: 'That new bathroom reveal! I thought that was from a magazine GORGEOUS." Fabulous will pay for your exclusive stories. Just email: fabulousdigital@ and pop EXCLUSIVE in the subject line.

‘Spineless' – Meg Nicholls' verdict on Philip Byrnes' infamous fall as dad Charles breaks silence after horse is sold
BYRN AFTER READING 'Spineless' – Meg Nicholls' verdict on Philip Byrnes' infamous fall as dad Charles breaks silence after horse is sold Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) BRAVE Meg Nicholls was praised by punters for giving her no-holds-barred verdict on Philip Byrnes' infamous Wexford fall. The jockey's 'soft' unseat at the last when clear on Redwood Queen has sparked an urgent Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board investigation. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up Statement issued as officials launch probe into jockey's final-flight fall on leading horse who drifted in market The mare, who has since been sold to a new trainer having belonged to Philip's brother Cathal, was a huge drifter in the betting before the off. New footage has emerged of the flashpoint, which saw Philip, whose dad Charles trained the horse, fall to his knees after the horse successfully jumped the last. Nicholls was involved in a discussion with Sun Racing's Matt Chapman and former Grand National-winning rider Mick Fitzgerald last weekend. And Meg, daughter of iconic trainer Paul, didn't hold back when giving her opinion of what happened. Quizzed by Fitzgerald: "So come on then, what are you saying, that he jumped off?" Meg without hesitation hit back: "I think it looks like it. "Watching that it looks as if he is preparing… his knee is out already. He is pushing himself out the left hand side. "It looks as if he is trying to come off." Nicholls' analysis was lauded as 'superb' by ITV viewers - but some disagreed with Fitzgerald. One took exception to his 'spineless' verdict of the incident, while others thought he offered valuable insight into what the jockey was trying to do. Either way, as Chapman wrote in his column, the outcome of the probe will more than likely depend on what can be traced, if anything, to betting patterns around the race. Byrnes senior finally broke his silence on the incident and used the opportunity to hit out at those doubting his son. He said: "It's obvious what happened. "He was trying to get the mare to go in and pop it, because obviously she had the race won, and she came up out of his hands and blew him out of the saddle. "There's no one hurting more than Philip about it." All this came as new footage of the fall was shared online. The camera, looking down towards the post from the track, focused in on how Byrnes' feet left their irons. Viewing it on Racing TV on Sunday morning, former jockey Adam McNamara conceded it 'looks really bad'. He said: "I'm going to be pro-jockey by nature and perhaps it's naive of me, but I want to believe it was an unseat. "If it was something more sinister why wait until last to do it? "It looks really bad - I think it's a really bad bit of riding. "The jockey will say he should never have fallen off that." Stewards originally decided on the day that no further action would be taken over the incident. But it was only after a social media outcry that the IHRB confirmed it was being looked into. 1 The new footage from behind focused in how Byrnes' feet left his irons mid-jump FREE BETS - GET THE BEST SIGN UP DEALS AND RACING OFFERS Commercial content notice: Taking one of the offers featured in this article may result in a payment to The Sun.
