Dodgers second baseman Tommy Edman is day-to-day after tweaking right ankle
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman Tommy Edman tweaked his right ankle this week and is day-to-day.
It's the same ankle that landed Edman on the injured list a month ago after he hurt it in a game against Miami.
Edman wasn't in the starting lineup for the second straight day Wednesday against the New York Mets. He entered as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning Tuesday night.
'The ankle got a little sore,' manager Dave Roberts said. 'We want to make sure that we're doing everything we can so it doesn't get worse.'
Roberts said Edman's sore ankle is affecting his lateral movement and it could be a few days before the team makes any decision about a possible move to the injured list.
Edman was chosen MVP of the 2024 National League Championship Series, when he had 11 hits and drove in 11 runs as the Dodgers beat the Mets in six games to reach the World Series.

"But he's built a nice hard shell in the sense of, just really trying to put his head down and keep the blinders on and trying to focus on whatever situation is at hand at the moment." As much as putting your head down and focusing on the moment is good for Muncy, the Dodgers can't continue to trot him out to third base every day and just wait for him to improve. There's a reason Los Angeles is reportedly keeping an eye on Colorado Rockies infielder Ryan McMahon. The Dodgers know an upgrade is necessary to push for back-to-back World Series titles. Time is ticking for Muncy to turn it around, and it seems as if the end of July is his deadline as well as the trade deadline. They are much fewer and further between than back in the Minnesota Gophers glory days of football yesteryear, when Dinkytown developed NFL Hall of Famers like Bronko Nagurski (1927-29), Carl Eller (1961-63), Bobby Bell (1960-62) and the campus GOAT, Bud Grant (1946-49) — who lettered in three sports at the U of M before he graduated in 1950 and drafted by both the Eagles (NFL – No. 14 overall) and Lakers (NBA – No. 47 overall). But the Minnesota Gophers football program has still rolled out some impressive NFL players over the past 50 years, some eras more than others. Since PJ Fleck took over in 2017, the path from Dinkytown to the league has been busier than any other time in modern program history (20 drafted players). Stuttgart signs French right back Lorenz Assignon from Rennes
STUTTGART, Germany (AP) — Stuttgart has signed French right back Lorenz Assignon from Rennes for a reported fee of over 11 million euros ($12.6 million). The 24-year-old Assignon signed a contract through June 2029, the Bundesliga club said Friday. 'This is a club with a great tradition and fantastic fans,' Assignon told the club website . 'I've watched them a number of times on TV and I like the way they play. I'm relishing the challenge that lies ahead of me and want to play my part in the future success of VfB.' Assignon scored three goals in 32 league appearances for Rennes last season, when the team finished 12th.
