KURUKSHETRA: Haryana is set to become a major force in India's logistics and supply chain sector, chief minister (CM) Nayab Singh Saini announced during the inauguration of the Inland Container Depot (ICD) and PM Gati Shakti Cargo Terminal at Dhirpur in Kurukshetra.
Describing the terminal as a transformative milestone, the CM emphasized its potential to drive prosperity among farmers, entrepreneurs, and traders while creating new employment opportunities for the youth.
Highlighting the state's growing appeal for global investors, Saini lauded the Saraf Group from Dubai for investing in the region. "This investment reflects strong confidence in Haryana's pro-business environment and represents the deepening economic ties between India and the UAE," CM Saini stated.
The state-of-the-art terminal, spread across 18 acres, offers integrated facilities such as customs clearance, warehousing, and cold storage under one roof—amenities once exclusive to metros like Delhi and Mumbai. The CM asserted that such infrastructure would significantly boost the ease of doing business and open up new avenues for investment in Haryana.
The project is a key part of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, aimed at building holistic infrastructure.

CM Saini stressed that the terminal is not just a logistics hub for Haryana but also a strategic gateway benefiting neighbouring states such as Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. 'This is a shining example of integrated infrastructure development and our commitment to making India a developed nation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision,' he said.
The Saraf Group is also operating a Multimodal Logistics Park on 115 acres in Palwal, while developing a transshipment hub on 30 acres in Rewari, further reinforcing the state's growing logistics network.
CM Saini attributed this progress to the vision of former CM Manohar Lal, who endorsed the project during a visit to Dubai. 'This ICD project is a seal of approval on our simple yet powerful economic and logistics policies,' he said. He also highlighted the role of Haryana's Department of Foreign Cooperation, which is supporting businesses and facilitating skilled manpower for global markets.
The terminal is expected to reduce logistics costs by 20–30% and significantly cut down delivery time.
This will increase the credibility and global demand for Haryana's products. 'As transportation, packaging, and logistics services grow, it will also generate thousands of job opportunities for our youth,' CM Saini remarked.
Calling the Dhirpur depot a 'Gateway to Global Trade,' the CM urged young entrepreneurs to take full advantage of this facility and contribute to making Haryana India's top export hub.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several dignitaries including former minister Subhash Sudha, Saraf Group vice-chairman Sharafuddin Saraf, chairman Salah Saraf, Kurukshetra deputy commissioner Neha Singh, SP Nitish Aggarwal and other prominent persons and officials.

HSRP mandatory for vehicle ownership transfer, says RTO

Nashik: Vehicle owners without high security registration plates (HSRP) may face restrictions in conducting Regional Transport Office (RTO) related activities, as the RTO has established HSRP registration as a prerequisite for certain services. For vehicles registered before April 2019, HSRPs have been made compulsory, with a compliance deadline of June 2025. The implementation in Nashik has received limited participation. "There are an estimated 10 lakh vehicles registered before April 2019. As of now, around 1.4 lakh vehicles registered for the HSRPs, out of which close to 1 lakh motorists have fixed them. The work of fixing these number plates is underway at the authorised centres spread across the 10 talukas in the jurisdiction of our office," said Rajashree Gund, the deputy RTO of Nashik. The online registration system has not garnered sufficient response. Consequently, the RTO has decided to withhold processing certain applications unless the vehicle owner has either installed HSRP or completed online registration. The RTO will not process applications regarding vehicle ownership transfer, RC address modifications, hypothecation-related matters, no objection certificates, or vehicle alterations. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Brass Laxmi Ji Idol For Wealth, Peace & Happiness Luxeartisanship Shop Now Undo Rajashree Gund clarified that applicants with scheduled HSRP installation appointments can submit their appointment receipt alongside other documentation for application processing. Centre-state mango relief: Karnataka growers to be paid for price fall on 2.5 lakh tonnes; price fall prompts joint compensation plan

The Centre and Karnataka government have agreed to jointly compensate mango farmers in the state for up to 2.5 lakh tonnes of produce after a sharp decline in market prices, according to an official statement issued on Saturday. The decision was taken during a video conference between Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Karnataka Agriculture Minister N Chaluvaraya Swamy, where the two sides finalised a joint compensation mechanism under a central government scheme. 'To address the drop in mango prices, the central and state governments will jointly bear the cost of the price difference and pay that to the farmers,' the Union agriculture ministry said. Union Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi also participated in the meeting. The relief will apply to 25% of the estimated 10 lakh tonnes of mangoes produced in the state this season, the statement said. Karnataka had earlier submitted a formal proposal to the Centre, citing a price crash in both tomatoes and mangoes, particularly the Totapuri variety. However, Swamy informed the Centre that tomato prices had stabilised since the proposal was submitted, and thus, no immediate intervention was needed for tomatoes. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending local enterprise accounting software [Click Here] Esseps Learn More Undo 'Since farmers were receiving much lower-than-usual prices for Totapuri mangoes, it was decided that the difference in price from the usual market rate would be borne equally by the Centre and state governments,' the ministry said. Swamy thanked Chouhan for approving the move. 'This decision will support and provide relief to mango-producing farmers in the state,' he said. Lens on car dealer for selling SUV with loan

Kolkata: A local Bidhannagar car dealership is under investigation for allegedly selling a vehicle with undisclosed loan obligations, leading to its seizure by Barrackpore Police earlier this month. The incident came to light when cops from Baranagar Police contacted the buyer, informing him that the sport utility vehicle he purchased in Dec last year had an existing loan from a prominent finance company. According to the police complaint filed on Friday, the buyer paid approximately Rs 14 lakh for a 2022 model luxury SUV from a dealership in the eastern part of the city. The dealer allegedly assured the buyer of clear vehicle history and promised to complete ownership transfer within 20 days. The fraud was discovered when cops revealed that the vehicle was registered to another individual who took a loan from a leading automobile finance company. Due to default in loan repayment, the finance company filed a complaint, leading to the vehicle's seizure. "The dealer was fully aware of the vehicle's encumbered status but deliberately concealed this information,' said a senior cop involved in the investigation. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 年最紓壓的農場遊戲!無需安裝 東加:島嶼農場 立即播放 Undo "This appears to be a clear case of intentional deception for financial gain." When confronted by the victim, the complaint further stated, the dealership's proprietor and his associate allegedly refused to refund the purchase amount. The buyer has filed charges under multiple sections of BNS 2023, including provisions related to cheating and fraudulent transactions. Law enforcement officials are currently examining the dealership's records and have advised other recent customers to verify their vehicle documentation. The finance company involved has also initiated separate legal proceedings to recover their dues.
