Super sexist Leisure Suit Larry franchise is being delisted from Steam
Almost all of the Leisure Suit Larry games are about to be removed from Steam and strangely it may have something to do with Codemasters' troubles.
The point 'n' click graphic adventure genre has long since ceased to be a mainstream concern for major publishers. There's still the occasional example from indie developers but the golden age of LucasArts titles like The Secret Of Monkey Island and Day Of The Tentacle is well in the past.
2022's Return To Monkey Island is the only recent example of one of the classic franchises continuing into the modern day but surprisingly the only other one still going is Leisure Suit Larry, which had a new entry as recently as 2020.
For those that don't know the series, they're 'sex comedies' where you control a middle age pickup artist called Larry Laffer, as he lusts after various younger women. They're not very sexually explicit but they are inherently sexist and painfully unfunny, although it's not clear if that's why they've been delisted.
A post on Steam entitled 'Time for Larry to Retire (Just a Little Bit)' states that 'After decades of questionable pickup lines and unforgettable adventures, it's finally time for Larry to hang up his leisure suit – at least the retro version of it!'
That means that Leisure Suit Larry 1 through 7 (as a running joke there was no 4) and Leisure Suit Larry Magna Cum Laude Uncut and Uncensored will 'soon' be leaving Steam, although if you've already bought them, you will be able to still play and redownload them.
The newer games Leisure Suit Larry: Wet Dreams Don't Dry and Wet Dreams Dry Twice, by German studio CrazyBunch, are unaffected though, even though most people probably haven't heard of those.
It's very hard to say what's going on here as the original games, or at least compilations of them, are still available at GOG and Fanatical, unless they're going to suddenly disappear as well.
Although the games are embarrassing, with their initial success largely dependent on an audience of teenage boys, they're not as outrageously objectionable as they sound, and no game should be erased from existence no matter what it's like – although this is more likely to be a question of IP rights rather than censorship.
Unlikely as it seems, it may have something to do with the current problems at Codemasters. They announced this week that they will not be making any more rally games, and it's feared that they will be badly hit by the hundreds of job cuts at owner EA.
Although they've done very little with it, Codemasters is believed to be the current owner of the Leisure Suit Larry IP. Or at least the original games. More Trending
They published the particularly awful Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust, by Team 17, in 2008 although they were so embarrassed to do so they did it under the Funsta label.
Original publisher Sierra On-Line went bust in 2008 and a number of different companies have made and published Leisure Suit Larry games since then, with the most recent titles, which are unaffected by the Steam purge, being published by indie company Assemble Entertainment.
Whatever the reason for what's going on, things do not look good for Codemasters, with its main Twitter account having been taken down shortly after its WRC announcement.
The publisher generally relied on other game-specific accounts for its announcements but, sadly, it all points to an ignoble end for one of the UK's longest lasting developers.

Fallout 76 patch notes and how to start the fishing questline in the new season
The Gone Fission update for Fallout 76 is here with a new fishing questline, new Season 21 rewards, and a whole host of patch notes to check out Whether you want to spruce up your C.A.M.P with some soggy, seaweed-riddled furniture or head out to the wasteland to get some fishing challenges under your belt, you can get as wet and wild as you like in the Gone FIssion update. Fallout 76 Season 21 has washed up alongside the Gone Fission update, bringing with it the fresh fishing gameplay mechanic, a new questline, new rewards and a ton of combat and Perk tweaks, after a longer-than-usual downtime. Kick off the Casting Off questline to get a rod, and you can start catching, eating and displaying fish to your heart's content. We'll get into how to start the quest before we share the patch notes, which are long, but highlights include a fast travel cost reduction of 25%, removing the Perk requirements from crafting, and the ability to repair items to 100% if you have the correct perks. How to start the Fallout 76 Casting Off quest Fishy adventure awaits in the Mire, where a new location has appeared. Make a beeline for Fishernan's Rest to kick things off and here, you'll encounter three fresh NPCs. There's Linda-Lee, a hermit crab who belongs to The Fisherman – not his birthname, presumably – as well as Captain Raymond Clark. You'll unlock the fishing rod during the quest which you can use any place you can swim, basically. The rod won't show up in your PipBoy so you can't confuse it with junk rods. You'll find and earn upgrades for it which you can apply at the Tinkers Workbench to tweak your tackle. Caught fish can be eaten straight from your inventory or you can use a recipe to whip up something like Fish Bits (unlocked as soon as you catch a fish or trade with a player) that restores a little bit of health and hunger, or Grilled Fish, which reduces the time it takes to hook a fish for 20 minutes – and there'll be more to unlock. Fallout 76 patch notes Here's the full Fallout 76 patch notes taken from Bethesda blog. The update weighs in at 15GB ( Steam) or 32GB ( Microsoft Store) on PC, 32.6GB on Xbox, and 8.2gb on PlayStation, although my PS5 download was just under 126GB because apparently I hit the bug that makes you reinstall the entire game. It's okay, I hadn't gotten that far into Oblivion Remastered... Combat Rebalance – A Year in Update Last year we kicked off our long-term combat rebalancing project with the Skyline Valley update. We started this work wanting to make sure: combat felt interesting and engaging. most/if not all weapons felt satisfying to use. all builds and weapons should have a reasonable amount of viability. manual aim should be satisfying and effective while still allowing VATS to perform well in specialized builds. majority of players should have an opportunity to participate in group content. reduce the need for 'tag the mob' play styles. With the changes made so far, we've seen significant improvement in the variety of ranged weapons being used. There are also fewer difficulty spikes in early to mid-game locations which makes the leveling experience smoother for our newer players. Build diversity has also increased as we see people exploring the new opportunities that the Perk card changes have provided. While we've already made significant progress, the next few updates will include a few larger and more impactful changes and represent the culmination of much of the balancing work we've done. This gives us a solid new foundation for the future content we have planned. After these updates, we plan on slowing down to let things settle and evaluate how things shake out. Note: This only applies when using the Quad legendary mod. Limb Damage and Crippling Changes We are making changes to the way that enemy limbs are affected by various effects. The mods, perks, and weapons mentioned below previously had a chance to instantly cripple a target, but now they deal a percentage increase to the amount of limb damage dealt. We expect that these changes will make most enemies easier to cripple while making limb damage more consistent and predictable. It will also result in making crippling enemies like Region Bosses more difficult, requiring more focused fire. These changes will also allow us to remove cripple immunity from many creatures and leverage limb and crippling in more engaging ways moving forward. I bought sex doll to stop me cheating – now I own SIX & they give me what my wife can't…but we have one strict rule
Larry explains how the raunchy dolls, some of which come with robotic heads that enable them to speak, have actually improved his marriage LOVE MACHINE I bought sex doll to stop me cheating – now I own SIX & they give me what my wife can't…but we have one strict rule WHEN Larry's eye started to wander while his first wife was away for work, he decided to purchase his first blow-up sex doll. Decades later, the sex robot fanatic has spent more than £25,000 on his doll collection - and insists it enhances his marriage rather than sabotaging it. 7 Larry, from California, says his sex dolls enhance his marriage rather than sabotaging it Credit: Supplied 7 Larry owns six sex doll bodies that come with six artificial heads Credit: Supplied 7 The sex robot collector has spent thousands on sex dolls - including some that have robot heads Credit: Supplied 7 Larry B, 67, said his obsession began in 1996 when he was feeling lonely Credit: Supplied Larry B, 67, who lives in California and is now in his second marriage, said his obsession began in 1996 when he was feeling lonely in his relationship with his first wife. The water maintenance manager - who goes by the name of "Obi-Wan" in the sex doll community - said his first experience of a sex doll kept him "straight and narrow" so he decided to try more advanced versions. Larry told The Sun: "I was out of town and I started getting lonely out there, and the eye started to wander. "But I said no, I don't want to cheat on my wife so I'll use one of these [sex dolls] so I acquired one. "It was a blow up doll at the time and you had to use your imagination, turning the lights off. "It felt okay, it took care of my needs and it kept me straight for a few years. Then I stumbled onto the more full-bodied models." Now, Larry owns six sex doll bodies that come with six artificial heads - and two additional robotic heads. When fitted with the robotic heads, they are capable of talking by using what he describes as a limited ChatGPT-style technology that offers answers to his questions. They also come built in with a special AI "X Mode" that promises to "detect touch, movement, and transitions from mild arousal to orgasm" while hooked up to an app. He added: "I have six real doll bodies. Each of the bodies has at least one head. And then I have two robot heads. "You can interface and talk with them. Their ability to have an intelligent conversation is somewhat limited. "But you can probe them and ask them certain things and if you ask in the right way, they will give you all kinds of scientific definitions. "How they do it is a mystery to me." They provide short-term relief, satisfaction that my wife either doesn't want to get into at the time or can't. Larry B He continued: "They can have light chit chat with you, they can get interested in you and have intimate activity with you if you put them into that mode and sufficiently provide input. "They banter back and forth, that helps them to get into the mood, if you will. "You have to kind of coax the AI along in order to facilitate that end goal. It takes maybe two hours before they're ready to play around. "And then you only get a short time with them, 10 minutes I think, is the timeout on the program." Robot satisfaction While you might think owning one sex doll, let alone six of them, could easily get in the way of a loving human relationship, Larry insists it enhances his marriage to his second wife. He says the raunchy robots had nothing to do with his split from his first wife around two decades ago, but when meeting his second wife, he was up front about his X-rated hobby early on. His attraction to robot sex dolls has not impacted their relationship of 16 years, he claims. Larry says: "I was up front. She looked at me a little side-eyed. I said if you want to see one, I'm open to that, and she said no, not really. "I said if you wanted to join in, we could. If you want a male version of one of those, we could. She said 'No thanks, you're enough." He added: "They provide short-term relief, satisfaction that my wife either doesn't want to get into at the time or can't." 7 When fitted with robotic heads, the dolls are capable of talking using what he describes as a limited ChatGPT-style technology Credit: Supplied 7 A brand new full-bodied sex doll sells for around £8,000 Credit: Supplied Larry told The Sun that he purchased the robot heads pre-owned, via the doll community, for around £3,000. On RealDoll's website, a brand new full-bodied version of Harmony - one of the dolls Larry owns - is listed for sale at around £8,300. There, buyers can select from a choice of 10 body shapes, including "Petite 5", skin colours including "light tan" and "fair", and eye colours including "sky blue" and "kush green". An extra £330 will get you a custom makeup style, while there is also a choice of custom freckles and piercings. The site also promises the doll heads have "multiple points of actuation" that give them facial expressions, an ability to move their heads and even blink. The X-Mode also allows users to "create unique personalities and control the voice of your robot", it adds. Larry says using the X-Mode also allows him to intimately interact with his doll girlfriends. Love machines Questions have long been raised over a potential future in which some people develop an emotional attachment with an ultra-realistic robot, as portrayed in the hit film Ex Machina. It's feared boys are being left behind at school and shut of work due to the rise of AI girlfriends and turning to chatbots for partnerships. Some have warned that "perfect" AI girlfriends are ruining an entire generation of men - and making singletons lonelier than ever. Larry hopes sex robots do not advance too far for fear they could one day manipulate and control him just as the robot Ava, portrayed by Alicia Vikander, does in the film. He added: "I think they can get close to having conversations like a human can, but I'm not so confident they will have the depth. "I'm not sure I would like them to actually. "Then we have an Ex Machina scenario, where the robots try to establish their own independence and self-awareness. "It might be too realistic for comfort. The danger is the AI starting to control or steer your feelings, emotions and activities." Larry has been a long-time member of the sex doll community. He says has around 20 pals who own dolls he describes as "associates", and together they use an online forum to buy and sell new models. The community hosts parties together, not for sex but for flaunting their latest models. But after decades of his silicone hobby, Larry has decided it's finally time to call quits on buying any more sex robots. He said: "I'm 67, I don't need to be collecting anymore, it's too heavy. As you get older, you lose muscle mass so you get weaker. "I'll scale down my interests."

The original Switch is still a better option than the Switch 2
A reader argues that the original Switch will still be relevant even after the Switch 2 launches, and that for some it will be the preferred choice. I haven't been playing games as much as I did, say, three years ago, mainly because I've found interest in other things, such as reading and creating content. However, I still delve into games and my love for Nintendo is still there, but I did consider parting with some of my gaming collection – which is mostly a curated list of mainly Nintendo games and consoles. I did see the announcement of the Switch 2 in early April and initially I was hyped for it but I think that has subsided somewhat, mainly due to the pricing of both the consoles and games; I am still going to be receiving it day one though. I don't think Nintendo has done themselves any favours though and the landscape has changed, with regards to mobile gaming in general, with the advent of the Steam Deck and other options from different manufacturers which makes this a crowded market. [The Steam Deck has only sold around 4 million units worldwide, compared to over 150 million for the Switch, and yet it's still the most successful of the PC handhelds – GC] I find myself purchasing games on Steam vs. Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. In fact, I ended up parting ways with my Xbox Series X and am considering the same with my PlayStation 5, as I mainly play games in portable form, with the Steam Deck and Switch being enough for me. With Nintendo it is mainly the first party titles that I would purchase on Switch 2, but it will make me think twice due to the price tag on the games (£60+) and with Nintendo the pricing of their games don't really go on sale that much, if at all. I know a lot of people are still considering getting rid of their original Switch in favour of the Switch 2, however I think it is still relevant in 2025 and beyond. With over 10,000 games, the Switch has a diverse library of titles. I love the fact the I have a big and robust library of physical games that I can play for years to come. The pricing on new games are anywhere between £25 to £50, with Zelda being the exception at £60 to £70. A lot of third party games you can pick up on sale. A lot of games are physical and most come with the game on the actual cartridge, so even in the future, if Nintendo decide to pull the eShop for the original Switch, you can still play games offline. Games are still being released for the original Nintendo Switch for the foreseeable future. It will stop being supported one day but there is still plenty to choose from, both used, digital, and new. I truly believe that the Switch 2 won't be as popular as the first Switch, mainly due to pricing £60+ on games and switching their strategy on physical games, with partial downloads or game key cards, which in theory is easily shareable but having to download the entire game isn't the most user friendly and there is still a reliance on the digital ecosystem. Watching a YouTube video by ModernVintageGamer, I've come to learn that backwards compatibility with Switch 2 isn't all it is cracked up to be. Nintendo is fully supporting backwards compatibility with most of their games, however third parties are left to patch games on their own discretion due to different system architecture in comparison to the original Switch. So it will be a bit hit and miss, more than likely they would rather release another 'remastered' version which they can sell to consumers again, rather than patch games. Also, bearing in mind some publishers don't want the costs associated with patching a game. At this stage in the original Switch's lifecycle there are a bunch of form factors to choose from. I have all three and use them in different environments; my Switch OLED gets used at home in portable mode and connected to the TV, while the original Switch is good for family party gaming, which I take around for family gatherings. The Switch Lite is small and portable and that it is great for single-player games with the cross-key but also great for travelling and going on holidays. You can pick up the Switch Lite for dirt cheap now, used, and I expect prices to fall further whilst they clear stock. I haven't seen too much details around this but Nintendo did announce original Switch compatibility with the Nintendo Switch 2 to allow for simultaneous multiplayer gaming with one cartridge, so that Nintendo Switch 2 acts as the main (host) console whilst the original Switch can be used for multiplayer gaming. So in essence you can all play Mario Kart from one Switch 2 console, by having your own screen, similar to the Wii U. I think this will be valuable for me with family gatherings, as most of us have Switches. So, I did mention costs for games earlier. However, as the original Switch has matured there are a plethora of cheap accessories that can be had on the cheap, compared to Switch 2, such as extra Joy-Cons, controllers, games, cheap microSD cards, plus others. I still love my Switch, and it won't be going anywhere, and I think it is Nintendo's best console in the past 20 years. I have a special place in my heart for the NES, SNES, Game Boy and GameCube, as being S-tier consoles but I think the Switch could be argued as being their best console. Ask me on a random day and my answer will probably change, because Nintendo have created timeless consoles as far as I am concerned, so it is difficult to choose one. But the original Switch makes a compelling choice especially for the younger generation.
