New commercial dealership opens in Carlisle
A COMMERCIAL vehicle dealership has strengthened its presence in Carlisle with the official opening of its new site.
TrustFord, the largest Ford dealer group in Europe, officially opened its new Transit Centre at Auction Drive, Carlisle, on Monday, March 31.
The launch brings the total number of employees across the firm's two locations in the city to 43.
This new site complements the company's existing car dealership at Kingstown Industrial Estate
Mike Bell, general manager of TrustFord Carlisle, said: 'I'm really excited about the opening of our new Transit Centre here in Carlisle.
"Whether you're looking for a new or used commercial vehicle, a service, advice about your fleet or just coming to have a look before making a purchase, our expert Carlisle team will take care of everything," he said.

The three-acre facility boasts a 15,000 square foot showroom and an eight-bay, EV-equipped workshop space.
The new build has also achieved an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) 'A' rating and features solar PV panels and LED lighting to improve energy efficiency.
The centre also operates as a service centre for commercial vehicles.
Sixteen staff members have been recruited for the new site.
Speaking previously to the News & Star, Glen Kennington, regional director for the north, said the opening in the city brings the firm closer to their ambition of 'covering the whole country' where they have already established a presence in the likes of London, Yorkshire, Bristol, Aberdeen and Glasgow.
TrustFord Carlisle continues to support the local community by sponsoring Carlisle United and Carlisle Rugby Club, and supporting Eden Valley and Jigsaw, Cumbria's Children's Hospice.
It has also partnered with Cumbria's Chamber of Commerce.

U.S. ocean container imports from China fell in May as tariffs took hold
U.S. seaborne imports of goods from China dropped 28.5% year-over-year in May, the sharpest decline since the pandemic, as President Donald Trump's 145% tariffs took hold, supply chain technology provider Descartes said on Monday. China is the top U.S. supplier of goods that enter through seaports, including the nation's busiest in Los Angeles/Long Beach. Domestic businesses ranging from retailer Walmart to automaker Ford depend on those goods to operate. Overall U.S. seaborne imports in May tumbled 7.2% from the year earlier to 2.18 million 20-foot equivalent units – snapping a streak of near-record increases fueled by companies frontloading goods to avoid higher duties. 'The effects of U.S. policy shifts with China are now clearly visible in monthly trade flows,' Descartes said in a statement. West Coast ports are more dependent on China trade and bore the brunt of the declines. From April to May, the nation's busiest seaports in Long Beach and Los Angeles experienced steep drops in goods from China, 31.6% and 29.9%, respectively, Descartes said. Top imports from China included furniture, bedding, plastic goods, machinery, toys and sporting goods. The United States and China agreed to a 90-day pause on punitive tit-for-tat tariffs last month. U.S. and Chinese officials met in London on Monday to defuse the high-stakes trade dispute between the world's largest economies. Port executives and shipping consultants expect volume from China to rebound during the tariff truce, albeit at a more moderate level. That's because the U.S. lowered the tariff for many goods from China to 30% during the pause. 'China-origin imports may continue to soften in the months ahead as importers reassess sourcing strategies amid rising landed costs,' Descartes said.

A Dark Art: New Ford Territory flagship SUV arrives in SA
The new Ford Territory Dark Edition has the same turbocharged 1.8-litre petrol engine producing 138kW and 318Nm. It's available in Lustrous Crystal White, Grey, Panther Black, and Ruby Red. Unique to the Territory Dark Edition is a new 360-degree camera. A year after its launch, Ford South Africa has introduced its first update to the Territory range with the new Dark Edition, replacing the outgoing and former flagship Territory Titanium. The Dark Edition is a relatively mild update, altering the vehicle's main cosmetic focal points but not going beyond skin deep. As the name suggests, anything formerly chrome or mirror-finish has been replaced with high-gloss black. These include its satin black grille, high-gloss black treatment for the skid plate, fog light accents and mirror caps. It looks particularly striking in Crystal White but is available in other colours, such as Lustrous Grey, Panther Black, and Ruby Red. Inside, the polarising blue and black leather combination in the Titanium makes way for conventional black leather to match the Territory Dark Edition's charcoal black headliner, pillars, door trims, and instrument panel with Cyber Orange stitching. As the new flagship in the range, it inherits the Titanium's technological full house. Nice-to-haves such as the eight-speaker sound system, wireless charging and the 12.3-inch high-definition digital instrument cluster in combination with the 12.3-inch landscape infotainment touchscreen are all standard. Safety features are equally weighty and include Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Change Assist. Unique to the Territory Dark Edition is a new 360-degree camera that provides all-round visibility. With 138kW of power and 318Nm sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed DCT automatic gearbox, the Dark Edition can't use its bolder looks to race ahead of its siblings. The 1.8-litre turbocharged engine is unchanged, as are the four driving modes: Eco, Normal, Sport, and Mountain. In a fiercely competitive segment that seems to gain new, mostly Chinese, competitors almost weekly, the new Dark Edition will hope to shed a lot more light on the avalanche of SUVs. Pricing Territory Dark Edition 1.8L EcoBoost 7AT – R733 000 Pricing includes a six-year or 90 000km Ford Optional Service Plan, four-year or 120 000km Ford warranty, four-year or unlimited-distance Roadside Assistance, and a five-year or unlimited-distance corrosion warranty. In addition, over-the-counter (OTC) parts and service parts warranty (SPW) are covered for two years or unlimited distance. The recommended service interval is 15 000km or annually, whichever occurs first.
