MINI India announces price protection for 3-Door Cooper S
MINI India, a part of BMW Group India, has announced a price protection assurance programme for the MINI 3-Door Cooper S model produced at its Oxford plant in the U.K. in case of a duty cut under the India-U.K. Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India said, 'With the price protection assurance programme for MINI 3- Door Cooper S, MINI is staying a step ahead and ensuring that customers can receive the full benefit of any major price reductions resulting from anticipated duty cuts.'
'They can buy their favourite MINI today and do not have to wait longer to make the purchase decision. This bold decision reflects the brand's exceptional focus on customer centricity, trust and best interest of the MINI community,' he said.
The price protection programme is valid on the MINI 3-Door Cooper S which is available in India as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU). The model is produced at MINI Plant Oxford in United Kingdom.
'Under the limited period offer, cars bought from now onwards will be covered till the next 180 days. If price is reduced during this period, the respective dealership will refund the differential amount between the net invoiced price and the new ex-showroom price back to the customer,' BMW Group India said in a statement.
'The current ex-showroom price of the MINI 3-Door Cooper S starts at ₹44,90,000. The offer can be availed at any authorised MINI dealership in India,' it added.
The other model of the new MINI family – the all-electric MINI Countryman – is not covered under the offer. It is available in India as a Completely Built-up Unit and is produced at BMW Group Plant Leipzig in Germany.

Piyush Goyal calls for easing of 'complex' EU regulations
PARIS: As India and the European Union move towards a comprehensive free trade agreement - with investment protection and geographical indications likely to be added later - commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal Tuesday called for easing of regulations in the trading bloc and member nations, describing them as "complex". "We have regulations in India too, but the kind of regulations which EU has, and on top of that each member state has, my businesses are just completely foxed. How to go through that maze, but we've got to sort out. We can't just remain foxed. We've got to find solutions," he said. Goyal and EU commissioner for trade and economic security Maros Sefcovic met for a 90 minutes on Monday evening where several issues were thrashed out, amid indications that contentious issues such as dairy and agriculture will be kept out. "We have to take care about, for example, our agriculture, and about some norms that we have in terms of environment, also in terms of sanitary norms, and a deal at the end is a consensus," French foreign trade minister Laurent Saint-Martin said after meeting Goyal, while asserting that both sides have to understand each other's sensitivities. He said that the success of the India-France defence sector can be a role model for other sectors. "I am pretty optimistic about the fact that we can have an agreement in the coming weeks, coming months, because we have to showcase to the world that we do believe in trade, in a freer trade, and not in a trade war," he said. EU FTA to be comprehensive, not interim: Officials
Synopsis India and the EU are negotiating a comprehensive free trade agreement. It will not include an early harvest deal. Discussions are ongoing regarding Geographical Indications. Investment protection is also being discussed. Both sides are addressing concerns like the EU's carbon border adjustment mechanism. India may impose retaliatory duties if the EU imposes a carbon tax. The India-EU free trade agreement (FTA) is likely to be a comprehensive one without any early harvest deal or a pact on Geographical Indications or an investment protection agreement, officials said. ADVERTISEMENT The two sides are also discussing if any exemptions or carve-outs can be given to India on the EU's carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) and officials said talks on the issue were going on. "The FTA will be a comprehensive one. These are dynamic issues," said an official. India and the EU aim to close the negotiations for the trade pact by the end of December. Commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said the talks can be concluded earlier than that but there are certain sensitive issues on both sides that must be negotiations for an Investment Protection Agreement and an Agreement on Geographical Indications since June 2022 are also Delhi has concerns related to certain practices and regulations of the EU such as CBAM and EUDR while the bloc held that India's quality control orders were a challenge. "On CBAM, talks are going on," said another official. ADVERTISEMENT India has already said it will impose retaliatory duties if the EU imposes carbon tax on Indian goods. The EU's CBAM is expected to translate into a 20-35% tax on select imports into the bloc from January 1, 2026, and will impact the cement, iron and steel, aluminium, fertiliser, electricity and hydrogen sectors.
