Looma Eagles smash Bidyadanga Emus in WKFLW round 6
The Looma Eagles bared their talons and proved too strong for the Bidyadanga Emus in round six of the West Kimberley Football League women's competition at the weekend.
The Eagles showed their might to dispose of the Emus 12.9 (81) to 2.3 (16) at Father McMahon Oval on Saturday afternoon.
They surged to the lead in the first quarter with four goals while the Emus struggling to find their feet, 4/4 (28) to 0.2 (2).

The Emus finally kicked their first goal of the match during the third term, but the Eagles had already well and truly secured the win by the three quarter time, 9.6 (60) to 1.3. (9).
The Emus tightened up their defence to prevent the Eagles from kicking another goal before the final siren and managed to kick one themselves, but it was too little too late in what eventuated as a 65-point loss.
Arnelle Bamba and Jyrene Hunter were the top goalkickers for the Bidyadanga Emus with one goal each.
In another clash on Saturday afternoon, Broome Towns were too good for Derby Tigers at Derby Oval.
The Tigers jumped to an early lead in the first term kicking two goals while Towns struggled to get on the scoreboard with just a behind, 2.1 (13) to 0.1 (1).
However, Towns struck back in the second term racking up three goals to take the lead while Tigers scored just one, 3.3 (21) to 2.1 (13).
Towns defence tightened up to block all Tigers' attempts at goal while kicking another two themselves to gain a substantial lead going into the final term, 5.7 (37) to 3.2 (20).
Tigers pulled out all the stops in the final term to kick another two goals, but Towns managed to slot a final goal to maintain their lead and take the win, 6.12 (48) to 5.2 (32).
Despite the loss, Tigers' Gabriella Radojkovich was the top goal kicker for the match with five goals.
Earlier that day Cable Beach destroyed the Peninsula Bombers on Father McMahon Oval.
Cable Beach jumped to the lead in the first term kicking two goals while the Bombers struggled to get up on the board, kicking just one behind, 2.2 (14) to 0.12 (1).

For the remainder of the match the Bombers failed to add to their score while Cable Beach had no trouble sinking goal after goal leading to an impressive victory, 7.8 (50) to 1.1 (7).

Newdegate youngsters Charlie, Joshua and Hunter ‘amazed' to end up on front page of The West Australian
Copies of The West Australian were flying off the shelves in Newdegate on Monday after three local kids decked out in West Coast Eagles and North Melbourne gear were photographed for the front page. Charlie Guelfi, 6, Joshua Guelfi and Hunter Tonkin, both 8, were among the 12,700-strong crowd at the West Coast Eagles v North Melbourne game in Bunbury on Sunday, June 8. The die-hard footy fans, who all live on farms in the Newdegate area, were snapped by AFL Media photographer Daniel Carson. Sibling rivalry was on show on the day, with younger brother Charlie — and his friend Hunter — decked out in Kangaroos merchandise while older brother Joshua was wearing his Eagles best. They made the 700km round trip from Newdegate to Bunbury with their families to attend the match at Hands Memorial Oval. Charlie and Josh attended the game with their parents Aaron and Liz Guelfi, who said the whole town had been 'amazed' to see the three boys on the front page of the June 9 edition of The West Australian. 'The whole of Newdegate has been rushing to town to buy the paper this week,' she laughed. 'The boys have been so excited, they have been saying 'we are famous, we are famous'.' 'The front page will be framed in our office for sure.' It capped off what had been a 'truly incredible weekend', Ms Guelfi said, after the three boys were chosen to race with the Eagles and Kangaroos mascots before the game started on Sunday. 'There was a lot of sibling rivalry on the day,' she said. 'Hunter has always supported North Melbourne and last year Charlie decided that he would too . . . we have no family over there, but he just loves the team. 'And Josh has always gone for the Eagles. So, there was a lot of banter and friendly competition on the day.' The three boys were hand-picked while standing near the rails to run with the mascots, taking part in a short relay race on the oval before the game. 'A North Melbourne official came up and asked if they wanted to take part,' Ms Guelfi said. 'They were a bit starstruck, I think . . . but they thought it was amazing to take part.' The game wasn't great viewing for a lot of the contest with the Eagles not kicking a goal until the second quarter and finishing with a woefully inaccurate 16 behinds, and the Roos barely scored after quarter-time before a four goal blitz late in the final term saw them edge ahead to win 9.8 (62) to 6.16 (52). As country people through-and-through, Ms Guelfi said the families had loved watching a game of AFL in regional WA. 'We were really excited to head to see both teams, and it was special to have a game like that in the country,' she said. 'It was just a really great day all around, to be picked in the mascot race and to be in The West Australian.'

Sydney young gun Angus Sheldrick attracting ‘strong interest' from rival clubs including West Coast
West Coast are keeping tabs on two out-of-contract midfielders as they look to bring in more players to accelerate their rebuild. The Eagles remain rooted to the bottom of the ladder with just one win this season after conceding the last four goals to North Melbourne on Sunday to slump to their 12th loss. Still two wins and percentage behind 17th-placed Richmond, a second wooden spoon in the space of three years seems very likely. But West Coast are once again looming as active players in the trade period after last year they brought in Richmond premiership players Liam Baker and Jack Graham, as well as Carlton goalsneak Matt Owies. 7NEWS Perth reporter Ryan Daniels revealed the Eagles are among a host of clubs interested in Sydney's emerging star Angus Sheldrick and young Docker Neil Erasmus. Sheldrick, who was drafted with pick No.18 in the 2021 draft, is originally from Western Australia and played his junior footy for Claremont. After playing just nine senior games in his first three years at the Swans, the 21-year-old is enjoying a strong recent run of form. Sheldrick was subbed off in the opening game of the season before being dropped and playing his next five senior games as the starting substitute. However, he has started the past three and been a strong contributor, averaging 23 touches and six tackles. Erasmus is another young player generating interest from rival clubs. The 21-year-old was also taken in the 2021 draft, going at pick No.10 to Fremantle. Like Sheldrick, Erasmus has also been in and out of the Dockers side, but has played the past four games this year. West Coast are among a number of clubs with 'strong interest' in the midfielder, according to Daniels. Meanwhile, Daniels added that Melbourne have put forward a contract extension to Kysaiah Pickett in a bid to complete the emerging superstar. Pickett has produced a string of stunning performances this year to see his value skyrocket. The 24-year-old's future remains in the spotlight despite being contracted at the Demons until the end of 2027. He has constantly been linked to a move back to Western Australia with Fremantle reportedly in the box seat.
