'Hamas-supporting' Channel migrant admits attempting to illegally enter Britain after dropping his bid to avoid prosecution
An alleged Hamas-supporting Channel migrant has admitted attempting to enter the UK illegally on a dinghy.
Abu Wadee, also known as Mosab Abdulkarim al-Gassas, dropped his bid for prosecutors to abandon the case against him after he was accused of being one of the 235 migrants picked up on four small boats in the English Channel on March 6.
He was arrested by Home Office Immigration Enforcement officers at an asylum hotel in Manchester three days later after the Mail on Sunday shed light on the 33-year-old's antisemitic social media posts, images of him holding guns, and his apparent links to Palestinian extremists.
His lawyers previously claimed it was not proportionate for the Palestinian national to be charged with illegally entering the UK without clearance, given he was one of around 75 migrants on a cramped inflatable boat intercepted by Border Force.
They had said Wadee, who previously called for 'death to all Jews', was not one of the organisers, but was simply a passenger, having paid 1,500 euro (around £1,300) for his space on the dinghy.
But Wadee was rearraigned today and pleaded guilty to attemtping to arrive in the country illegally without leave or valid entry clearance.
He previously pleaded not guilty to a charge of entering the UK illegally, but the indictment was altered to reflect the fact that Wadee was intercepted in the English Channel, and so was only attempting to enter.
The migrant has filmed himself chanting about killing Jews, and previously shared this picture on social media
Wadee, wearing a pink shirt and black t-shirt, spoke only to confirm his identity and enter a guilty plea at Canterbury Crown Court.
He will be sentenced later today.
The court previously heard Wadee arrived in the UK having left Palestine in June 2022.
He travelled first to Turkey, before heading to Greece by boat less than three months later.
He stayed in Greece for one year before travelling on to Belgium, Germany and France, making failed asylum applications as he went.
Harriet Palfreman, the prosecutor during a hearing last month, said that the defendant had shown 'disregard to laws by entering this country without valid entry clearance'.
She had said: 'The chronology of countries he has been through in the last three years suggests he has an understanding of the immigration system.'
She said Wadee has 'no ties' to the UK, whether familial or financial.
The court heard Wadee live streamed his arrival in the UK to his social media followers, and had a significant online presence which she said included 'various extreme views' about the Jewish community.
She said during a bail hearing previously that his release presented a 'clear threat to the Jewish community' as well as to his own safety from 'vigilante groups'.
Defence counsel Audrey Mogan last month called on the Crown to reconsider its decision to prosecute her client, given he was 'not alleged to have been someone who had his hand on the tiller' inside the dinghy.
She said he has no previous convictions, and had not previously come to the UK and then removed.
She said: 'These are the aggravating factors in CPS guidance when deciding whether to prosecute - none of those factors apply here.
'Unless someone has had their hand on the tiller, it is unlikely someone simply sat on the boat is charged. Mr al-Gassas said there were about 75 sat in the boat.'
It previously emerged that Wadee had been beaten up in prison while awaiting trial for entering the UK illegally.
He was sporting an eye injury during his last court appearance four weeks ago.
He was said to have suffered injuries to his face and body when he was set upon by two fellow inmates at the Dovegate category-B prison in Staffordshire.
Wadee is believed to be from the city of Khan Yunis in Gaza, and previously filmed himself chanting about killing Jews.
Images on social media showed him taking part in running battles with the Israeli Defence Forces.
In one sickening video, posted on his Facebook page last September, he is filmed calling for Allah to 'punish (Jews) completely.'
'Allah, it is upon you to (deal with) the Jews and those loyal to them,' he said, according to a translation for the MoS by Camera, a research organisation.
'Allah, kill them one by one, and don't leave a single one. Allah, destroy them completely, disperse them completely and make the earth fall from under their feet.'
Although he fled Gaza before the October 7 massacres in 2023, Wadee appears to have been a prominent member of the so-called 'Tire-burning Unit' - a militant group of Palestinian extremists who before outbreak of war regularly hurled fire-bombs and rocks at Israeli forces manning the border with Gaza.
The group also revelled in launching airborne arson attacks in which they fired incendiary objects across the border.
In an interview in April 2018 unearthed by the MoS, Wadee told Hamas-affiliated newspaper Felesteen about terrorising Israel by sending flaming kites across the border.
'(An improvised incendiary) kite only costs us three shekels, but it costs the occupation (Israel) more because of the fires it causes,' he said.
'We try to come up with new surprises. That way it is known that we started with [throwing] stones, moved to burning tires and setting the Israeli flag on fire, and then used kites.'
In one shocking picture, posted on his Facebook account in March 2021, Wadee stared into the camera while smoking a cigarette and brandishing a powerful assault rifle with a telescopic sight.
Another picture showed Wadee crouching with two Kalashnikov AK47s, while a third showed him nonchalantly wielding a gun while sitting in a car.
The brazen militant also posed alongside seven masked men behind a table on which had been placed a high explosive artillery shell covered in pictures of gunmen apparently killed in clashes with Israel.
Accompanying the picture, posted in January 2021, he wrote: 'We are the ones who ignite it for the sake of Al-Aqsa, and we do not fear death. Our souls are cheap for you, our beloved Al-Aqsa.'
The comment appear to be a reference to the feared Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade: a militant group that took part in the October 7 massacres and which is listed as a terror group by the US and EU.
One of his friends, however, was clearly concerned that Wadee was the only militant showing his face, writing: 'Cover your face, Abu Wadih, you are dangerous.'
In another post from 2021 he commented on what appeared to be a picture of a rocket attack on Israel, saying: 'Our occupied lands will become red with flames and wrath, God willing.'
Wadee has a huge following on social media, where his TikTok videos attracted up to 2.5 million views.
His account has since been suspended and he does not appear to have updated his Facebook page since his arrest.
He charted his journey through Europe to the UK, posting a picture of himself in the Belgian capital Brussels on Valentine's Day, and then in central Paris.
He also posted videos of him apparently sleeping rough in makeshift camps in France.
He re-posted another picture on Facebook upon his arrival in the UK which appeared to show him relaxing with a coffee and a cigarette in a busy town centre.
It was originally posted by a friend and carried the caption in Arabic which said: 'A thousand 'thank God's for Abu Wadih being safe. You have brightened up Britain.'
It is not known when or where the picture was taken.

Donald Trump criticises the BBC for Gaza aid misreporting as the White House accuses the broadcaster of interpreting the word of Hamas as 'the total truth'
The Trump administration has hit out at the BBC, accusing the corporation of interpreting the word of ' Hamas as the total truth'. Yesterday, 21 Palestinians were killed by IDF troops as they tried to collect aid near a distribution site in Rafah, according to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Previously, the Hamas-run health ministry said at least 31 people had been killed while waiting for food, laying blame on ' Israeli gunfire'. When asked about these reports, Karoline Leavitt, the US President's secretary, said the Oval Office was attempting to confirm what had transpired before speaking publicly. But in a bizarre turn of events, she basted the BBC for its coverage on the matter, accusing them of taking 'the word of Hamas with total truth.' Waving a printout of stories on the BBC website, she described how headlines had changed from accusations an Israeli tank had killed 26 people, to 21, and then again to 31 fatalities. 'Unfortunately, unlike some in the media, we don't take the word of Hamas with total truth,' she said in a press conference: 'We like to look into it when they speak… unlike the BBC …' 'And then, oh, wait, they had to correct and take down their entire story, saying we reviewed the footage and couldn't find any evidence of anything,' she said. 'So we're going to look into reports before we confirm them from this podium or before we take action. Taking another swipe at the broadcaster, she added: 'And I suggest that journalists who actually care about truth do the same to reduce the amount of misinformation that's going around the globe.' A BBC spokesperson said: 'The claim the BBC took down a story after reviewing footage is completely wrong. We did not remove any story and we stand by our journalism. 'Our news stories and headlines about Sunday's aid distribution centre incident were updated throughout the day with the latest fatality figures as they came in from various sources. 'These were always clearly attributed, from the first figure of 15 from medics, through the 31 killed from the Hamas-run health ministry to the final Red Cross statement of 'at least 21' at their field hospital. 'This is totally normal practice on any fast-moving news story.' Completely separately, a BBC Verify online report on Monday reported a viral video posted on social media was not linked to the aid distribution centre it claimed to show. This video did not run on BBC news channels and had not informed our reporting. Conflating these two stories is simply misleading. It is vital to bring people the truth about what is happening in Gaza. International journalists are not currently allowed into Gaza and we would welcome the support of the White House in our call for immediate access. Last week, thousands of Palestinians overran an aid distribution site in Gaza, established by a US and Israeli-backed group. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) said they had to retreat due to the insurmontable numbers of people seeking aid Earlier today, 27 were killed and several were injured by IDF troops near a food site in Gaza, according to local officials. The Israeli military said its forces had opened fire on a group of people they viewed as a threat after they left a designated access route near the distribution centre in Rafah and approached their positions. It added it was still investigating what had happened. The deaths came hours after Israel said three of its soldiers had been killed in fighting in northern Gaza, as its forces pushed ahead with a months-long offensive against Hamas militants that has laid much of the enclave to waste. The reports in northern and southern Gaza could not be independently verified. An International Committee of the Red Cross spokesperson said its field hospital in Rafah had received 184 casualties, adding that 19 of those were dead upon arrival, and eight died of their wounds shortly after. Video showed injured people, including at least one woman, being rushed to a medical centre on carts drawn by donkeys. Health officials said at least 18 more Palestinians were killed in other military strikes in the territory on Tuesday. The United Nations human rights office in Geneva said on Tuesday the impediment of access to food relief for civilians in Gaza might constitute a war crime and described attacks on people trying to access food aid as 'unconscionable'. The head of the U.N. agency, Volker Turk, urged a prompt and impartial investigation into the killings. Israeli government spokesperson David Mencer denied that civilians had been targeted. 'The IDF is doing everything in its power to allow Gazans to get to the humanitarian aid. The IDF is not preventing the arrival of Gazans at humanitarian aid sites. Indeed, we are encouraging it,' Mencer said.

Love Island star's SHOCK EXIT as they leave the villa ahead of upcoming series after citing 'personal reasons'
Love Island star Kyle Ashman has left the show ahead of the launch episode next Monday. ITV have confirmed the 23-year-old from Stafford has chosen not to enter the villa and has decided to leave the show for personal reasons. It comes amid The Sun's reports that Kyle was involved in an machete attack in February when masked thugs stormed a wake and hacked at a dad with a blade. Kyle was one of two arrested by police but he was released with no further action and he has now confirmed he had no involvement in the incident, but has chosen to leave the ITV show regardless. Kyle told MailOnline: 'I fully cooperated with this police investigation and made it very clear that I had no involvement in this incident. 'I am not a violent person and any suggestion otherwise is a mischaracterisation.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Meanwhile ITV added: 'For personal reasons, Kyle will not be entering the Love Island Villa as planned.' The Love Island line up was announced on Tuesday so Kyle's departure will have plunged the show into chaos ahead of Monday's launch episode. The Sun have revealed they alerted bosses on Kyle being questioned in the attack but ITV said they were unaware of the incident and he was not flagged during the contestant checks. The incident on February 28 saw the victim, 38, nearly lose his arm after he was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment and kept it for around two weeks. Another mourner was reportedly glassed, one hit with a metal pole, and two people were run over by a car during the 15 minute attack at the The White Eagle Club in Stafford. Sources said the victim was attacked by three balaclava-clad thugs over an alleged £3,000 debt. He was injured by a blade that left him with a deep gash and has suffered tendon damage and is now unable to drive. Police confirmed yesterday that after the matter had been investigated Kyle and another individual were released with no further action only last month. The incident on February 28 at The White Eagle Club in Stafford saw the victim, 38, nearly lose his arm after he was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment A show source told the publication: 'ITV were entirely unaware of Kyle's past and, as he was not charged, it was not flagged as part of Love Island's stringent DBS checks. 'It's only right he can now return home to the UK to share his side of the story and therefore bosses took the decision that it was best for him not to enter the villa.' Staffordshire Police said on Monday: 'A 22-year-old man, from Stafford, was arrested on suspicion of wounding and affray. Another man, also 22 and from Stafford, was arrested on suspicion of affray. 'Both were questioned in custody and bailed with conditions while our enquiries continue.' Kyle, who works as a water operative, doesn't have a strong social media presence with just one Insta pic on his profile. Prior to his announced departure, Kyle said he was looking for 'someone that's fun, confident and just themselves'.
