Lko DM visits Malihabad, spotlights ‘Kavach' to boost mango exports
District magistrate Vishak G on Saturday toured the famed Malihabad mango belt to assess technological developments in mango cultivation and engage directly with local farmers.
During his field visit, he reviewed the 'Kavach bagging technique' being implemented by farmers. The method, used to protect mangoes from pests and improve fruit quality, was noted as a step forward in modernising traditional practices.
Addressing a gathering of growers, the DM encouraged farmers to strengthen their participation in export-related activities by working closely with local mango pack houses. He also interacted with officials from the horticulture department to promote government-backed schemes for horticulture.
The visit coincided with the district receiving the geographical indication (GI-125) user certificate for the Malihabadi Dasheri mango. Congratulating the Awadh Mango Producer and Horticulture Committee, Vishak said the certificate would help in expanding the international footprint of this distinct variety of mango.
The DM was joined by deputy director DK Verma of the horticulture department and other officials. General secretary Upendra Singh of the committee, along with mango growers Mahendra Singh, Rohit Jaiswal, and Muslekhuddin, also took part in the event.

Digha Jagannath temple rolls out prasad for 1.4 crore Bengal families
1 2 Kolkata: Three hundred kilograms of 'khoa,' a dry milk 'kheer' that is a key ingredient in sweets, was offered to Lord Jagannath at the temple in Digha before being dispatched to 23 districts in refrigerated vans on Monday. The handover of 'mahaprasad' will begin on June 17 and be completed by June 27, the day of Rath Yatra. Around 10am on Monday, 300 kg of 'khoa' reached the Jagannath temple in Digha in a refrigerated van. Of the 23 large packets marked with the names of districts, the one for East Midnapore was handed over to the DM for distribution among BDOs. The remaining 22 district packets, along with seven others, were loaded onto the refrigerated van and dispatched to Kolkata around 11.30am. "On the way, the packets will be distributed to the districts the van passes through: Hooghly and Howrah," said Das, reiterating that the initiative was taken byat the behest of the chief minister. Biswambhar Basu, general secretary of the All India Fair Price Shop Dealers' Federation, said Duare Ration would be used for prasad delivery from Monday to Friday. Bakrid celebrated with religious fervour, gaiety in city
Patna: Muslims across the city gathered on Saturday at various mosques and Eidgah in the morning, including Gandhi Maidan, to offer 'namaz' (prayers) on Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid). The mornings were filled with spiritual devotion. People hugged each other and exchanged warm greetings after offering namaz at Gandhi Maidan. After the prayers, families engaged themselves in offering 'qurbani' (sacrifice), an important ritual of this festival where specially goats are sacrificed and distributed among friends, relatives and the poor. Adding to the festive spirit, governor Arif Mohammad Khan extended his warm wishes to the people through social media on the auspicious occasion. DM reviews preparations for Bakrid
Patna: DM Thiyagarajan SM and SSP Avkash Kumar on Wednesday directed the officials to strengthen and activate intelligence networks and undertake special precautionary measures at sensitive locations on Bakrid, which is likely to be on June 7. The two officials were addressing a meeting to review law and order preparations for the upcoming festival. Directives were issued to all SDOs and SDPOs to organise peace committee meetings. The officials were instructed to ensure strict surveillance on anti-social elements, keep the social media monitoring cell active. The DM said, "In view of administrative preparations and smooth conduct of the prayers, entry for the general public to the Gandhi Maidan will be restricted from June 5 evening, until the conclusion of the festival." Those coming to offer prayers with vehicles will enter through gate no. 5 and 10. Parking facilities will be available inside the ground. Pedestrians will enter through gate nos. 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. The DM directed timely completion of all necessary arrangements at the Gandhi Maidan. The officials were ordered to keep all CCTV cameras at the Gandhi Maidan ready, besides deputation of doctors, paramedical staff, and ambulances. Suggestions were also taken from Mahmood Alam, president of the Namaz-e-Edain committee, and other committee members. The DM stated that as the nodal officer, additional district magistrate of disaster management will coordinate with Alam. A temporary police station will also be operational at Gandhi Maidan for security purposes.
