Tej Pratap Yadav, RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav's son, has courted a controversy after a video surfaced on social media showing the estranged party leader inside Varanasi's Kashi Vishwanath Temple's restricted 'Red Zone'.
The temple administration has ordered an investigation after the video went viral triggering security concerns, reported news agency PTI.
The high-security zone includes the sanctum premises within the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, where mobile phones and unauthorised access are strictly prohibited.
What's In The Video?
The video, which began circulating on social media platforms on Thursday, appears to show the former Bihar minister inside the restricted 'Red Zone' area, officials said.
'May Baba Vishwanath bless you, May the ghat of mother Ganga be pure and holy, I forget the whole world and I remember my Bhola in Banaras, I must say Har Har Mahadev…." he said in a post on X along with the video.
… #Varanasi pic.twitter.com/Uq5tS32evB — Tej Pratap Yadav (@TejYadav14) June 13, 2025
Temple Orders Probe
Kashi Vishwanath Temple CEO Vishwa Bhushan Mishra that the temple administration recently became aware of the video through social media platforms and various newspapers.
According to the temple administration, information has been shared with the CRPF and the local police, which are responsible for the temple's security.
'Information has been sent to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and local police administration to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and take action against the responsible personnel of the concerned agency," said Mishra.
'Both agencies have been requested to ensure strict adherence to the prescribed rules and guidelines within the temple premises. Their investigation will also verify the authenticity of the content circulated on social media and identify any personnel found to be at fault. If any violation of rules is found at any level, appropriate legal action against the concerned individuals," he added.
The controversy comes amid ongoing personal and political turbulence for Tej Pratap Yadav. The RJD patriarch and his father expelled him from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, declaring that he would have 'nothing to do with the family," on May 25.
The move came a day after Tej Pratap Yadav's Facebook post announced that he was 'in a relationship for 12 years" with a woman, despite being married and his divorce petition still pending before a family court.
He, however, deleted the post a few hours later, claiming on X that his Facebook page was 'hacked."

Ambedkar row: State SC panel issues notice to Lalu
Patna: Bihar State Commission for Scheduled Castes has issued a notice to RJD chief Lalu Prasad , demanding a response within 15 days as to why a case under the SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act should not be filed against him for allegedly disrespecting a photograph of Dr B R Ambedkar. The incident occurred during Lalu's birthday celebration on June 11. The letter, signed by commission vice-president Devendra Kumar on June 13, read, "You (Lalu) have insulted the photo of Constitution maker Baba Saheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on your birthday, which is being continuously seen on social media. The insult of Baba Saheb has hurt the honour of not only one class but the entire country. Therefore, give an explanation within 15 days and tell why a case should not be registered against you under the Scheduled Castes, Tribes Atrocities Act. " The controversy arose from a viral video showing an RJD worker placing Ambedkar's picture as a gift on a table near Lalu's feet. Lalu neither acknowledged nor touched the photograph, nor made any comment. The BJP has strongly criticised the incident. In defence, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Lalu's son and former deputy chief minister, accused the BJP of levelling false accusations. "BJP has nothing to do with the principles and policies of Baba Saheb. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Eat 1 Teaspoon Every Night, See What Happens A Week Later [Video] getfittoday Undo Today, even at the age of 78, Laluji meets people for 10 hours. But those making allegations have no shame at all. BJP should learn that even at this age Laluji remains in touch with the public," he said. Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary wrote on X on Sunday, "It has been more than 36 hours since the video of Baba Saheb's insult came out. The whole of Bihar is hurt by that video, but not even two words of regret have come from RJD. Bihar has definitely seen the arrogance of Lalu's beloved son Tejashwi. Our question is that even after insulting Baba Saheb by keeping his photo near his feet, Lalu's son does not feel it is an insult, then after what other will RJD accept as an insult?" Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor also criticised Lalu and took a swipe at the Congress. "Rahul Gandhi says don't be afraid. Lalu had his feet in front of Baba Saheb's photo. If you have the courage, then show it by giving a statement on it," he said in Muzaffarpur on Sunday. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Ambedkar row: Bihar State Commission for Scheduled Castes serves notice to Lalu Prasad
The State Commission for Scheduled Castes (SCSC) in Bihar on Sunday (June 15, 2025) served a notice to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad for allegedly insulting Bhimrao Ambedkar as a portrait of the Dalit icon was placed at his feet. On Saturday, a video went viral on social media, following which the ruling Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) slammed Mr. Prasad over the alleged act. SCSC Vice Chairman Devendra Kumar Manjhi sent the notice, which was dated June 13, and was released in media on June 15. 'On the occasion of your birthday, you and your party worker were seen insulting the photo of the architect of the Constitution, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar-ji. The video is being seen continuously on social media,' Mr. Manjhi said in the letter written in Hindi. 'Thus, provide an explanation within 15 days or else it would be assumed that you have done this intentionally. In failing to do so, a case will be registered against you under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989,' the letter stated. In the video, the ailing leader is seen seated on a couch, with his feet placed on a sofa nearby. A supporter enters the room carrying the portrait of Ambedkar and places it close to Mr. Prasad's feet before greeting him on his 78th birthday on June 11. 'More than 36 hours have passed since the video of the insult to Babasaheb surfaced. The entire Bihar is hurt by that video. But so far, not a single word of regret has come from the RJD,' BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said on Sunday in a message on social media platform X. Responding to the issue, RJD leader and Mr. Lalu Prasad's son Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday said that the BJP was spreading lies about his father, and termed the allegations baseless. Attacking the BJP, Mr. Tejashwi Yadav said that the BJP had nothing to do with Ambedkar's principles and ideology. The BJP's national spokesperson, Guru Prakash Paswan, said that Mr. Lalu Prasad's action was unacceptable and unpardonable. 'For someone who claims to be the champion of social justice to disrespect and insult the legacy of Ambedkar shows his true face, nature, and character. At the end of the day, the RJD remains a family-oriented, dynasty-oriented organisation, which has hardly or rarely ventured beyond family politics,' Mr. Paswan told media persons. 'All the position and powers in the organisation and in the government have remained with the family. For example, the Leader of the Opposition would be Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the House in the Legislative Council would be Rabri Devi, the daughter would go to the Rajya Sabha, the daughter will contest in the Lok Sabha, and so forth. It shows the real character, and they are the 'neo-feudals' who, in the name of social justice, do nothing,' Mr. Paswan. Meanwhile, Mr. Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday announced on social media that, if his party formed the government in Bihar, a '100% domicile law' would be implemented, with all the jobs in Bihar given only to the people of Bihar and 'not to outsiders'.

Cyber frauds create fake social media account of East Champaran SP, FIR lodged
Motihari: East Champaran police registered an FIR after many users of a social media platform received a money request from none other than an account created in the name of superintendent of police (SP) Swarn Prabhat. Cyber criminals are sending friend requests and engaging in conversations with people. Cyber DSP Abhinav Parasar on Monday said, "Many fake social media profiles have been created in the SP's name by using his photos. The criminals are engaging in conversation with people by claiming themselves as SP and demanding money on some pretext or the other. As soon as the matter came to light Motihari cyber police team became active and registered an FIR against unknown cyber criminals in this connection." Deputy SP said details of fake IDs related to Meta (Facebook's parent company) have been sought. Operators of these fake accounts will be identified and arrested. Cyber police have appealed to the people that if they get any information about any such fake message they should immediately inform the cyber police, he added. The police department has clarified that no police officer demands money in this manner. This incident is not only an attempt to tarnish the image of police administration, but also a direct attack on the security and privacy of common citizens of the bordering district.
