Tampa police send warning after arresting 3 men for running illegal gambling operation
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Police have sent a warning about illegal gambling after arresting three suspects accused of operating an illegal gambling house in Tampa.
On Super Bowl Sunday, officers responded to the All Stars Tampa Domino Club, located in the 2300 block of West Waters Avenue— a location they've been eyeing since December 2023.

The police department said that throughout 2024, they would arrive undercover, placing 'a multitude of bets' at their 'everyday operation.'
Alongside their SWAT team, K-9, Bomb Squad, and Street Anti-Crime Squad, police arrested 67-year-old Marcelino Perez, 32-year-old Charlie Parilla, and 29-year-old Kendrick Franklin following their pattern of racketeering.
Following their raid on Sunday, officers seized several computers, more than $12,000, a semi-automatic pistol, and receipts used for illegal gambling.
'The success of this operation is a testament to the tireless work and attention to detail shown by our officers,' said Chief Lee Bercaw. 'To anyone thinking about running an illegal gambling operation in Tampa, consider this your warning.'
Perez, Parilla, and Franklin were arrested on various charges including betting on results of trial or contest of skill, RICO violation, agent or employee of keeping of a gambling house, and bookmaking.

The detainment of Lame comes as the Trump administration called for the military to be deployed against anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles. The protests, which began in response to raids on Friday, escalated over the weekend after Trump ordered the deployment of National Guard troops into the city. Gov. Gavin Newsom requested on Sunday that Trump revoke his federalization of the National Guard and withdraw them from the city. An alligator attacked a German shepherd dog outside the pet's home in Wesley Chapel, Florida, on June 2 The dog, Zeus, suffered multiple injuries, including a fractured jaw and several puncture wounds at the neck, according to a GoFundMe page for the pup Zeus' family says the attacking alligator dragged the dog into a nearby pond, but eventually let the pet go, giving the canine a chance to escapeA German shepherd dog narrowly escaped death in an alligator attack just outside of his home in Wesley Chapel, Florida, according to the pet's parents. The dog, named Zeus, suffered multiple injuries after "a large alligator broke through [the] fence" of his owner's home and "attacked him" on the night of June 2, according to a GoFundMe page created by the dog's distraught owner, Susan Alkhatib. "Our beloved dog Zeus was sitting peacefully in the lanai with my dad when he heard a small animal in the backyard," wrote Alkhatib. According to the owner, Zeus "ran out the doggy door to investigate" and "within seconds," the alligator "grabbed the dog and dragged him back into the water." "We rushed outside with a flashlight and were shocked to see Zeus swimming back toward us, wounded but fighting to survive," Alkhatib continued. "My mom waded into the water to help him out, and we rushed him to the nearest emergency vet as he was bleeding heavily from his mouth." One family member recalled the attack to WFLA, "All of a sudden, I couldn't hear him anymore. My dad came in frantic. I'd never seen him like that. He said, 'The alligator just took Zeus.'" "The alligator had just let go of Zeus," Alkhatib told the outlet. "We started yelling at him to come toward us. When he got closer, he got tired. So we had to kind of go into the pond a little bit to get him." Zeus suffered a displaced jaw and multiple puncture wounds to his neck in the vicious attack, according to the GoFundMe page. The page has raised over $6,800 of its $10,000 to help cover veterinary bills. Photos released by the dog's owner show the pooch bleeding from his neck and his injured jaw. Alkhatib called the dog's escape from the attack "a miracle" on her GoFundMe page. "The vet told us the gator had just missed his jugular — it looked like Zeus's entire head had been in the gator's mouth. The fact that he made it out alive is nothing short of a miracle," she wrote. The Brief Christian Eppinger, the last defendant in the high-profile YSL RICO case, entered a non-negotiated guilty plea Monday, receiving a 75-year sentence with 40 years to serve in prison, ending the first major YSL trial. Eppinger faced serious charges, including the 2022 shooting of an Atlanta police officer and gang-related crimes, and previously rejected a plea offer that would have sentenced him to life in prison. The YSL trial, Georgia's longest-running criminal trial, ignited debate over the use of rap lyrics as evidence and the application of the state's RICO law, concluding with a mix of acquittals, plea deals, and convictions. FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - The last defendant in the massive YSL RICO case, Christian Eppinger, appeared in a Fulton County courtroom on Monday morning to enter a non-negotiated plea. Until his appearance, it was unknown if he would enter a plea or if jury selection would begin today. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker, who took over the YSL trial from the original judge, sentenced Eppinger, who was facing multiple charges, to 75 years with 45 years to serve in prison, followed by probation. On Oct. 31, 2024, Young Thug pleaded guilty to gang and drug charges. He was sentenced to time served, 15 years of probation, and ordered to stay out of metro Atlanta for a decade (some of those conditions have since been modified). In December, Yak Gotti and Shannon Stillwell faced a jury verdict. Gotti was acquitted of all charges. Stillwell was convicted only of being a felon in possession of a firearm. He received a 10-year sentence, but with credit for time served. He is serving the remainder on probation.
