"I'm well bored of it. I've had enough," Aspinall said on the High Performance Podcast. "Either we need to fight, or I need to move on and do something else. And like I said, I'm gonna find out. Literally, today is the day that I've been waiting three, four months for, and I'm gonna find out today what's going on."
Aspinall won the interim UFC heavyweight crown in November 2023 with a knockout victory over Sergei Pavlovich at UFC 295. Aspinall took that fight on short notice when the original main event for that card, Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic for Jones's heavyweight title was scrapped following an injury to Jones.
Despite Aspinall winning the interim crown, UFC CEO Dana White remained steadfast in saying that Jones vs. Miocic was the fight to make.
That fight did not take place until November 2024. Jones held on to his belt that night, beating Miocic by TKO in the third round. By that time, Aspinall had already defended his interim crown, scoring a first-round knockout win over Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 in July 2024.
Aspinall has been waiting for the title unification bout with Jones since Jones's win over Miocic in November. In late April, Miocic became the longest-serving UFC interim champion, topping the 535-day reign of Renan Barao, who defended his interim title twice before being named undisputed champion.
"Me, personally, I can't do anything," Aspinall said about the Jones fight. "I think it's just down to money, I think, on his side. So I will fight whenever, wherever he wants. But it's down to money, I think."
"I just think that at this stage in his career, he's had an amazing career," the interim champ continued. "He's like 37, 38 years old, but not only that, he's got a million miles on the clock. So he's got a lot of damage on the body. He's took a lot of shots to the head, and that's not me saying anything negative about it. That's the reality of it. And I'm sure Jon Jones is aware of that."
"When you put him in with, I'm not trying to blow my own trumpet, but I'm literally the most dangerous guy in the UFC if you look at the stats. When you put him in with a guy of my size who has the credentials at this stage in his career, I think Jon's a smart guy, and he realizes that. So he wants compensating financially for it."

In March, Aspinall spoke about potential progress in the Jones situtaion.
"We had a nice meal, and we talked everything through," Aspinall told Ariel Helwani,"(UFC CBO) Hunter (Campbell) has always been extremely personable and reasonable with me. I can't say what he's like with other people, I don't know, but with me and my team, he's been nothing but hospitable and fantastic. We had a fantastic meeting. Everything went amazing, and I understand my position now. I understand what the company's doing now, and you've got to stay tuned, my friend. There's some big news coming."
'I feel like we're in a good spot right now," Aspinall added. "I realize I'm a professional MMA fighter, UFC fighter, and we're doing all this media stuff lately, it's gone really well. The YouTube channel is flying, social media's flying, everything's going really, really well with that, which is good. That's really, really nice, but first and foremost, I like fighting people. That's what I like to do. If I'm not doing that, I feel a little bit — that's just what I like to do. I like to do that. That's the most important for me, and I've not been doing that over the last seven months.
'After the meeting, I'm feeling very optimistic about things. I'm in a really, really good spot with everything and my future moving forward. I think it's exciting times, man. Really exciting times.
'The break [waiting for Jones' decision], it's not a massive break, to be honest," he added. "People are saying, 'Oh, Jon Jones is holding up your career,' and stuff. It's only been seven months. It's not too bad. I don't want to say too much, but exciting stuff is in the future, for sure.'

In late April, UFC CEO Dana White addressed rumors about the Jones vs. Aspinall fight.
'Everything you hear is (expletive) until we (the UFC) say it,' White said of all the talk about Jones vs. Aspinall. 'I've said it many times, that's the fight we want to make this year.'
White then added that he remains 'super confident' that Jones and Aspinall will meet in 2025 before adding, 'I've said since day one, this will be the biggest heavyweight in the history of the company and in the history of the sport. It's going to be a big one.'

Sloppy England give Tuchel food for thought on road to World Cup
Thomas Tuchel will put England's flops to the test in Tuesday's friendly against Senegal after admitting their sloppy 1-0 win over Andorra underlined how much they need to improve ahead of the World Cup. Tuchel's side were booed in Saturday's World Cup qualifier in Barcelona after failing to impress against a team ranked 173rd in the world. Advertisement Harry Kane's 50th-minute goal extended Tuchel's winning start to three games. But after underwhelming victories over Albania and Latvia in March, the Euro 2024 runners-up were well below their best in a dismal display that left Tuchel bemoaning his players' lacklustre attitude. "The last half-an-hour I don't like it at all because I think we lacked everything that is needed in a World Cup qualifier," Tuchel said. "There's lots to get better. At the moment everything is a learning period so we're smarter than before. "We will talk about it honestly and directly and try to do it better." Advertisement Senegal sit 19th in the world rankings and will pose the toughest test for Tuchel since he took charge at the start of the year. With only a small number of international breaks left before the 2026 World Cup, Tuchel won't go easy on his players, even though they looked fatigued after a gruelling domestic campaign. "I don't forget because there's not so many matches," he said. "I think it's necessary that we have a good look at it and then present in detail to the players what we don't like, and to present it in a video session what we have to do better and what are the standards and what we did good." Advertisement - 'We got away with it' - Kane has scored in all three matches under Tuchel, his former manager at Bayern Munich, with his latest effort extending the striker's England record tally to 72. But England captain Kane took little pleasure from his latest goal and echoed Tuchel's belief that the Andorra game should be used as a lesson. "It's down to us now to go analyse it, look back and try and learn from it because condition-wise it's going to be very similar to next summer -- dry pitch, warm weather, humid," he said. "We were just lacking quality, looked a bit fatigued both physically and mentally and, yeah, we got away with it because we're a good team and they had a couple of half-chances there where we didn't get punished. But ultimately, it wasn't good enough." Advertisement Tuchel wants England to play with a more dynamic approach that mirrors the swashbuckling style used by many Premier League teams. But he knows it will be hard to implement his tactics with so few opportunities to work with the players. "Absolutely. It's our second camp. I think we can do much better, all of us, and that includes me," he said. "It always takes two to tango, but we need to do better at breaking down deep opponents. We played now three times against a 5-4-1, but there are no excuses. "The lack of counter-pressing and the lack of ball wins and the lack of being aggressive in duels is basic in football. "If you don't show this, then it becomes more or less a game that we saw, which is not attractive, which does not have the quality that we want to show." smg/kca/pi

Patchy Mix predicts rebound after upset loss to Mario Bautista in debut at UFC 316
Patchy Mix predicts rebound after upset loss to Mario Bautista in debut at UFC 316 Patchy Mix experienced what many other first-time UFC fighters go through Saturday. After UFC 316, the former Bellator bantamweight champion acknowledged the disappointment and said he'll rebound. Mix (20-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) made his highly anticipated promotional debut at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., as a betting favorite against Mario Bautista (16-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC), but never seemed to get started in a unanimous decision loss (30-27, 30-27, 29-28). "Tough night for me in the office," Mix posted on Facebook. "But I appreciate the people that have supported and been along for the ride. Would have liked to do more and made adjustments. I will come back stronger from this moment." Bautista outstruck Mix every round and won his eighth straight fight. The victory is on the heels of a decision win over former featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Mix, whose fiancee is recent UFC women's flyweight title challenger Tatiana Suarez, had not fought in a little more than a year after an unceremonious exit from the PFL after it bought Bellator and folded the promotion. Mix was about a 2-1 betting favorite in the fight, and the consensus was that he would beat Bautista and might even find himself promptly in the bantamweight title picture. In fact, his manager predicted that might be the case with a win. In the MMA Junkie reader predictions, Mix got nearly 80 percent of the vote, and he was a unanimous pick from MMA Junkie's 11 staff members. The 31-year-old Las Vegas-based Mix hadn't lost since 2020, when he was upset by Juan Archuleta in Bellator's bantamweight tournament. But less than three years later, he won Bellator's belt and a $1 million prize against Raufeon Stots, then had title defenses against Sergio Pettis and Magomed Magomedov before he arrived in the UFC.

Ruben Amorim has copied Jose Mourinho transfer tactic at Manchester United
Manchester United have wasted no time in getting down to business at the start of this summer's transfer window. After completing the £62.5million signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves last weekend, United are now trying to get a deal in place to bring Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo to Old Trafford. Advertisement After seeing an opening offer worth £55m turned down in midweek, discussions between the two clubs are understood to remain ongoing and an improved bid is expected to be made. READ MORE: Man United 'target' £50m Ruben Amorim favourite as David Beckham pushes for transfer reunion READ MORE: Bryan Mbeumo talks, sales planned - Manchester United state of play ahead of transfer deadline Having already signed Cunha, who scored 17 goals across all competitions in 2024-25, the prospect of United adding Mbeumo, who scored 20 Premier League goals, to their attacking pool is exciting. United's attack was blunt for much of the 2024/25 campaign, so the fact they could start next season with two of the Premier League's most consistent recent goalscorers in their attack is extremely encouraging. Advertisement Should Mbeumo join Cunha at Old Trafford, the general feeling is they will occupy the two No.10 positions. Cunha regularly operated as the left-sided No.10 in a 3-4-2-1 system at Wolves, while Mbeumo has often drifted inside from the right flank at Brentford. United's switch to a 3-4-2-1 formation under Ruben Amorim last November means Cunha's transition to Old Trafford should be fairly seamless. He is a specialist in the No.10 role and the uniqueness of Amorim's formation means that he needs specialist operators to occupy key positions within it. Despite Cunha and potentially Mbeumo also offering United a sense of versatility, which chief executive Omar Berrada vowed the club would target this summer, Cunha's experience as a No.10 makes him a tailor-made fit for the role Amorim wants him to fill. And signing specialist players for specific positions is a route former United manager Jose Mourinho wanted to go down in the 2016 summer transfer window, while also acknowledging the importance of having players who could also play in different roles. Ruben Amorim has taken a leaf out of Jose Mourinho's (right) book. -Credit:. "We made a nucleus of four priorities, four positions, to give a certain balance to the squad," Mourinho said in July 2016. "To give a certain push in terms of the qualities I need and want. Advertisement "As you know, the ones with more vision. I am more a manager that likes specialists rather than multi-functional players because I am clear in my approach. "Multi-functional players – you need one or two if you have three central defenders injured. But, basically, I want specialists." United's early-window recruitment has given a clear indication that Amorim is after both specialists and a sprinkling of versatility. Multi-functional forwards have been missing from United's attacking ranks in recent years, making the addition of Cunha and the potential addition of Mbeumo extremely positive. However, Cunha, despite being capable of playing as a No.9, is, first and foremost, a specialist No.10, who will slot straight into the left-sided No.10 position. He is a maverick, capable of making something happen in the blink of an eye from that particular area of the pitch. The unique nature of Amorim's system means he will need specialist operators, hence why he was so determined to sign Patrick Dorgu back in January to operate at wing-back. He cannot rely on attempting to put square pegs in round holes.
