Ananda Lewis dies at 52: What was former MTV VJ's net worth?

Ananda Lewis, a popular TV host and a former hostess of the Teen Summit on BET and an MTV VJ, has died at the age of 52 after a long struggle with stage 4 breast cancer.
Her death was confirmed by her sister, Lakshmi, who shared the heartbreaking news in a Facebook post: 'She's free, and in His heavenly arms. Lord, rest her soul.'

Following her death, many are now wondering what Lewis left for her two children. While exact figures have not been publicly disclosed for her net worth, however, a website named Cloudflare claimed that the Ananda Lewis Show has a net worth of $8 million.
Born on 21 March 1973, in Los Angeles, California, Ananda was of African American and Native American heritage, tracing her roots to the Creek and Blackfoot tribes. After her parents divorced when she was just two, Ananda and her sister moved with their mother to San Diego to live near their grandmother. The girls were left with their grandmother when their mother later went to Europe.
She started to work as a tutor and counsellor at a Head Start centre at the age of 13, which was a defining experience as she contemplated a career in education or psychology. However, her family pushed her to do something more financially secure. She late graduated cum laude with a degree in history in 1995, at Howard University.
Media is where she discovered her purpose, and her interest in youth empowerment and social justice got a strong voice. She first came into the national limelight on Teen Summit, and then became one of the most prominent faces on MTV.

However, in 2020, Ananda announced that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Later on, she made her experience open to the world, in the aim of creating awareness and preventing what she felt she got wrong.
'My plan at first was to get out excessive toxins in my body. I felt like my body is intelligent, I know that to be true. Our bodies are brilliantly made,' speaking during a roundtable discussion with CNN in October 2024, she reflected.
'I decided to keep my tumor and try to work it out of my body a different way. . . . I wish I could go back. It's important for me to admit where I went wrong with this.'

Intelligence test: Can you solve this confusing riddle that's challenging people's logic?

Brain teasers have long been a favourite pastime for those who enjoy challenging their logic and reasoning skills. These puzzles, whether mathematical, linguistic, or observational, are designed to push the boundaries of how we think and approach problems. In the age of social media, these mind games have found a new home online — capturing the attention of users across platforms with their deceptively simple setups and cleverly hidden complexities. (Also read: Optical illusion: Spot hidden snow leopard in this image to earn title of visual detective of the day) A brain teaser has recently gone viral after being shared on Facebook by a page called Dreame. The riddle reads: "Today is not Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday. Yesterday was not Friday or Sunday. Tomorrow will not be Wednesday or Saturday. What day is today?" At first glance, the riddle seems simple, but the trick lies in interpreting the clues correctly. The logic puzzle has generated hundreds of comments, with people throwing out guesses and arguing over interpretations. While some users confidently declare their answer as Friday, others insist it's Wednesday, based on how they read the statements. Check out the puzzle here: This isn't the first time Facebook has played host to a riddle that stumped the masses. Just recently, another viral brain teaser circulated widely, shared by a page called Minion Quotes. That riddle read: "Jack's Mom has 4 kids: North, East, South, and ?" At first glance, many were quick to guess 'West,' following the directional pattern. But as many later realised, the answer is actually 'Jack,' as the sentence itself gives it away. It's a classic example of how our brains can be tricked into overlooking the obvious. What is it about these simple brain teasers that keeps us hooked? Perhaps it's the thrill of solving something others can't—or the satisfaction of that "aha!" moment when the answer suddenly clicks. These riddles offer a refreshing break from daily routines, pushing us to think differently and test our reasoning in a fun, low-stakes way. In a world full of information overload, they're short, sharp, and strangely addictive. (Also read: Maths logic test: Only 10% of people with out-of-the-box thinking can crack this tricky puzzle) So, have you figured out what day it is? If not, you're not alone. Many are still scratching their heads and engaging in lively debates in the comment sections. Some are overanalysing, others are taking wild guesses, and a few may have actually nailed it. But whether you solve it or not, the real fun lies in the chase.

Meta rolls out AI-powered video editing across apps and web: How the feature works, eligibility and more

Meta has announced the rollout of a new generative AI video editing feature, now available on the Meta AI app, website, and the Edits app. The tool is aimed at simplifying video editing for users without professional experience, allowing them to transform short-form videos using a selection of pre-set AI prompts. The launch is part of Meta's broader effort to integrate AI-driven content creation tools across its platforms. Inspired by its Movie Gen models, the current offering allows users to apply a variety of transformations to 10-second segments of their videos. The edits can alter elements such as clothing, location, and visual style, offering an accessible entry point for personal and creative video customisation. Users can upload videos directly through the Meta AI app, Edits app, or the website. From there, they can choose from over 50 prompts to apply to their video clip. The transformation options range from stylised effects—like converting footage into a graphic novel or vintage comic book—to atmospheric changes, such as turning a gloomy outdoor scene into a dreamy, soft-focus visual complete with sparkles and colour filters. Another preset allows for a gaming-inspired transformation, adding video game-style visuals and character designs, including neon lighting and battle-themed outfits. The edits are rendered by Meta AI and made available for free for a limited time, although users can only transform up to ten seconds per video during the trial period. Once edited, videos can be shared directly to Meta's social platforms, including Facebook and Instagram, via the Edits and Meta AI apps. The web version also allows for publishing to the Discover feed, expanding the reach of user-generated content within Meta's ecosystem. The company says it has collaborated with content creators to develop prompt styles that resonate with digital audiences. The tool is being positioned not only as a creative outlet for casual users but also as a production aid for social media influencers and video creators looking to streamline their workflows. Available in the United States and more than a dozen other countries, the feature marks Meta's initial foray into consumer-facing AI video editing. According to the company, more advanced functionality is planned for later this year, including the ability to customise video edits using free-form text prompts.
