Louis Vuitton unveils brand new shop inside a life-size cruise ship

Daily Mail5 hours ago

Louis Vuitton has unveiled its latest landmark shop and this time it's in the shape of a life-size cruise ship.
The new shop, in Shanghai, China is called 'The Louis' and will house retail, hospitality and an exhibition onboard.
It might take shoppers a while to explore the whole ship as it spans a whopping 13,000 feet with two levels and 10 themed rooms.
Pietro Beccari, the chairman and CEO of Louis Vuitton, told Women's Wear Daily (WWD): 'The Louis marks a step further into Louis Vuitton's cultural journey.
'Shanghai is the perfect harbour to stage such a daring fusion between retail, an exhibition and a cafe, crystallising an experiential place where creativity meets excellence.'
The chairman added that the shop embodies the brand's 'spirit of travelling' through 'ideas, emotions and inspiration' in a 'cheerful way'.
The Louis has a shiny metallic exterior and is emblazoned with the iconic Louis Vuitton logo.
Its upper levels are in the shape of large zinc-coated Louis Vuitton trunks, a central concept to the brand.
Louis Vuitton first started crafting its trunks for sea voyages in the 19th century, which coincided with Shanghai's opening as a treaty port in 1843.
The brand says that the ship's 'boat-like structure' responds to the Chinese city's ethos of 'embracing all rivers'.
Visitors will explore two themes in The Louis' exhibition, one charting the brand's maritime roots and one tracking its history.
There's also a Perfume Room where visitors will be able to see vintage Louis Vuitton toiletry kits.
A Books Room showcases writings from Gaston-Louis Vuitton, the founder's grandson. Ernest Hemingway is also referenced as the writer was a client of the fashion house.
The Louis' Sport Room has ski gear, rackets and more items that were designed for major brands including Formula 1 and the Olympics.
Visitors can also explore 'Workshop' and 'Testing' areas that explain how many of the brand's iconic items are made.
Within these areas, visitors can speak to two Louis Vuitton artisans who lift the lid on the production process.
The Louis debuts on Thursday June 27 and there will then be a 24-hour celebration, kicking off at midnight on Friday
After exploring the exhibition, shoppers can head to the third floor to eat at Le Cafe Louis Vuitton.
The cafe's menu has been designed to blend Shanghai cuisine with classic Western style dishes, reports Women's Wear Daily.
The Louis debuts on Thursday June 27 and there will then be a 24-hour celebration, kicking off at midnight on Friday.
It's set to open to the general public on June 28 with visitors able to book a slot to explore.

DIY SOS star Nick Knowles, 62, kisses new wife Katie Dadzie, 34, onboard £2k a day yacht on romantic Ibiza honeymoon

DIY SOS star Nick Knowles kissed his new wife Katie Dadzie onboard a £2k-a-day luxury yacht as the newlyweds soaked up the sun on their Ibiza honeymoon. Presenter Nick, 62, and his lingerie brand boss bride, 34, looked utterly smitten as they shared loved-up snaps from their lavish getaway. 10 10 It comes just weeks after they tied the knot in a six-figure ceremony at Braxted Park in Essex. In photos shared to Instagram today, the pair enjoyed a blissful day at sea. Katie flaunted her figure in a skimpy orange and white floral bikini with a halter neckline and tie-side bottoms, while Nick kept cool in a white linen shirt and beige shorts as he took the helm. The couple were seen beaming as they cruised the Mediterranean, with Katie later slipping on a white crochet miniskirt and stretching out on an orange towel to sunbathe. They later jumped aboard a tender to head into shore, where they enjoyed a boozy beach lunch. Nick, shielding himself from the heat with a woven western-style hat, was seen sipping wine in the shade. The Strictly star wrote in his caption: 'Wonderful time at sea cruising for a while on honeymoon. "And yes we paid but think it was so well organised I should mention the crew Carlos & Patricia and the boat hire folks @charteralia. "Lunch on Formantera was special but cruising the islands, swimming and sunbathing on a Cat under sail is something special." The honeymoon follows their extravagant wedding earlier this month. Rumoured to be costing six-figures, the couple's beautiful venue is the the same place Rylan Clark married ex-husband Dan Neal in 2015. In photos from their big day, Nick wore a dapper pale pink tuxedo with black lapels, matching black trousers and a black bow tie. In one sweet picture, Nick could be seen adjusting his friend's bow tie to ensure everything is perfect. Standing proudly next to Katie, the dapper groom chatted to guests while the photographer tried to shepherd everyone together. Meanwhile, Kate looked relaxed as she smoothed back her hair while holding on to a glass of fizz. Wearing a beautiful white gown with a large blue floral design decorating it, the sweetheart neckline accentuates her figure perfectly. Accessorising the outfit with some bling, she added a diamond necklace and an extra ring and bracelet to her right hand. The Sun previously revealed that Nick and Katie have splashed the cash for their big day, with insiders telling us it's set them back six-figures and guests are in for an unforgettable day. A source said: 'Nick and Katie's big day is taking place at Braxted Park, a stunning location in Essex. 'He's invited all of his famous pals, including his Strictly co-stars so it's going to be a proper showbiz bash. 'Katie's dress is beautiful and is going to blow people away. Nick and Katie's guests will be treated to delicious food and amazing entertainment - really no expense has been spared.' Katie and Nick got engaged in 2023 after getting together in 2021. They met when Katie's daughters befriended Nick's youngest lad Eddie at a play centre. Katie was accused of being a 'gold digger' by internet trolls when the pair went public with their relationship. But Nick insisted lingerie firm boss Katie was 'wealthier and more successful' than him. Nick has been married twice before. He and first wife Gillian, who share children Tuesday and Charlie, divorced in 2000. He then married Eddie's mum Jessica Moor in 2012, but they split in 2016. Nick is also dad to son TJ from his relationship with dancer Paula Beckett. Nick was determined to get back to 100% fitness in time for his wedding to Katie. The DIY SOS star revealed earlier this year that he was learning to walk again after suffering an injury on Strictly Come Dancing. 10 10 10 10 10 10

Exclusive: US allows ethane to be loaded and shipped to China, but not unloaded -- letter

June 25 (Reuters) - The U.S. sent letters to Enterprise Products (EPD.N), opens new tab and Energy Transfer (ET.N), opens new tab on Wednesday informing the companies they could load ethane on vessels destined for China but could not unload the ethane at a port in China without authorization, according to a person familiar with the matter and copy of one letter. The letters from the U.S. Department of Commerce follow earlier notifications to the companies that imposed a license requirement on exports of ethane to China. The companies are highly unlikely to risk loading the ethane on vessels and sending them on their way, the person familiar with the matter said. If the vessel makes its way to China, it may be difficult to stop its offloading and the companies risk penalties of up to twice the value of the ethane. "This letter authorizes Enterprise Products to load vessels with ethane, transport and anchor in foreign ports, even a party located in China," the letter said. "However, Enterprise Products may not complete such a party that is located in further BIS authorization." Enterprise Products and Energy Transfer did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The U.S. Department of Commerce also did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The ability to load and begin transporting ethane could relieve congestion at ports like those near Houston, where vessels have stalled amid restrictions on shipping the product to China.

EXCLUSIVE Travis Scott admits to frivolously spending '$300k on gas' as ex Kylie Jenner is scolded for private jet use

Travis Scott revealed he flew to another country just for a designer bag... but it wasn't just any designer bag. It was a Louis Vuitton x Murakami. Attending a panel at Fanatics Fest on Friday as a special guest, the 34-year-old rapper spoke about brand partnerships and collaborations alongside Fanatics founder and CEO Michael Rubin and Tom Brady. When asked by moderator Caio Amato, Oakley Global President, about what brand partnerships they liked, Scott said, 'I liked everything that Marc Jacobs did when he was at Louis Vuitton. I thought all his collaborations were like...' Rubin then interrupted Scott to ask him, 'Did you get on an airplane and fly to pick up an LV Murakami bag to Paris from LA?' - referring to Louis Vuitton's popular collab with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. Travis then smiled and replied, 'Yeah,' according to an eyewitness. Rubin continued to call him out about the swanky purchase he flew abroad for. Rubin told the crowd, 'The guy spent about $300,000 on gas to pick up a bag that he was so excited about. So, I'm just saying, when he likes something, he goes all in.' Travis explained, 'Yeah, I think that was just something that was fresh. [The] 2000s energy was just crazy. But yeah, if I focus something, I go pull up and get it, for sure. But that's something that's actually... that's crazy.' Kylie Jenner's ex has been a longtime fan of Louis Vuitton, having had been photographed with the brand's bags in the past. He even returned to France's capital in January to attend Louis Vuitton's Menswear show during Paris Fashion Week. Speaking on his own past collaborations - he famously has partnered with brands like Nike, McDonald's and Reese's Puffs - he said that everything he collabs with is 'something I've been into since I've been a kid.' He shared, 'So kind of being able to grow up and take what's in your brain or what you played with as a kid and see it, like, how you wanted to see it as a kid now to life is kind of cool. And I just always wanted to bring the energy. 'I always feel like I tell Rubin this all the time - high corporations always forget about the people sometimes and what they really want. You know what I mean? And so, it's just always cool to just give the people what the f**k they want instead of all this random s**t.' Scott sported a hoodie that was specially made for Fanatics Fest - something he had drawn up and had requested Rubin come out with six days prior to the three-day sports festival. The zip-up hoodie features logos from four New York teams: Rangers, Knicks, Giants and Yankees. When asked about the future of collaborations, Scott insisted, 'I think it's about trusting the youth and allowing them to step in the seat and giving them some sort of creative reigns. I think that's the next level of, like, collaboration instead of the one-off partnerships. You know, opening the doors a little bit to more of people that have the real ideas and getting in that lane really just to go off.' The Sicko Mode singer shared his admiration for the brand with his followers on Instagram View this post on Instagram A post shared by Oakley | Meta (@oakleymeta) Following the 15-minute panel, everyone left the stage and the lights went out. Scott's DJ then took the stage at the Javits Center and the Sicko Mode rapper performed a surprise set - with guests (who had their phones locked up) going wild as they jumped and sang along to his hits. He even asked security guards to let guests come closer to the stage. As he took the stage, he debuted the new Oakley Meta AI glasses, which are capable of capturing Ultra HD point-of-view video while offering Meta AI. The singer's admission of spending $300,000 on gas to fly to Paris from Los Angeles comes after his ex, Kylie Jenner, received backlash for flying her $72.8 million private jet during the California wildfires earlier this year. Daily Mail reported that she took her ritzy jet on 11 flights since the fires started in early January. Four out of the 11 flights were under one hour, with the jet spending a shockingly short 15 minutes in the air on one of those journeys. On January 9, the Bombardier Global 7500 completed one of its shortest trips, a 15-minute flight between Los Angeles and Camarillo, California. Just three days later, the 27-year-old flew for 36 minutes to Palm Springs, emitting three more tons of CO2 emissions at a cost of $1,555. On another trip, she flew to London to support boyfriend Timothée Chalamet at the premiere of his new Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown, where ironically the actor appeared to swerve a car in favor of a Lime bike for his red carpet arrival. Making the most of their time in Europe, the loved-up couple then jumped back on the jet for a 47-minute flight across the Channel to Paris, France. The journey emitted four tons of CO2 and 361 gallons of jet fuel at a cost of $2,000. Kylie was labeled a 'climate criminal' at the time after she posted a statement about wildfire relief efforts and thanking firefighters. The Kardashians star's jet, nicknamed "Kylie Air," is customized with pink accents and her skincare brand's logo. It features a sleek white exterior and inside, there are personalized features such as a bar with a neon "Kylie" sign, silk Kylie Skin pillows and eye masks, soft Hermes blankets and 10 white leather seats with Kylie's initials. Kylie has shared many photos of herself and her family on her jet, giving fans a glimpse of her luxe lifestyle. The mom-of-two shares daughter Stormi Webster, seven, and son Aire Webster, three, with Scott. Although Scott and Jenner are rarely seen together in the public after they split, Kylie brought their daughter to his Coachella set back in April.
