5 heavy vehicles hit Sitabuldi flyover height barriers in 36 hours, cops explore solution
Nagpur: Heavy vehicles are crashing into the Adivasi Gowari aka Sitabuldi flyover height barriers at an alarmingly high frequency, with five such accidents reported in just 36 hours since installation of the structures at the Rahate Colony end and Zero Mile end on Monday night.
After three separate collisions on Tuesday, two more incidents took place on Wednesday, when in the morning a truck reportedly belonging to a Hyderabad-based explosives manufacturing company rammed into the barrier at the Zero Mile entry point of the flyover, followed by a sand tipper later.
Police said the truck belonging to the explosives company was not carrying any hazardous material at the time of the crash. "There was no risk of explosion.
The truck was empty and not carrying any explosives consignment," police inspector Vitthalsinh Rajput of Sitabuldi police station told TOI.
Th PI added that both drivers involved in Wednesday's collisions have been booked for negligent driving and destruction of public property.
The height barriers have been installed to prevent oversized vehicles from using the flyover, which is not structurally designed to support such loads.

"Deploying personnel 24x7 for this one spot would stretch our resources thin," an official said. Traffic NGO Janakrosh too slammed the cops for the accidents, and demanded the company owners or truck owners bear the cost of repairs and replacements.

The police recovered six sophisticated firearms, including two PX5.30 pistols and four 9 mm Glock pistols, all loaded with live cartridges. The operation was carried out after receiving a specific tip-off about the illegal smuggling activities. Government school bombed in northwest Pakistan
Unknown miscreants bombed a government high school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwest Pakistan early Friday, local police said. Senior inspector Kanhaiya Thorat of Hinjewadi police told TOI, "It is a case of death by suicide. We found a suicide note on her body which said — 'I am done with life. I am sorry, please pardon me.' We suspect the techie was depressed. However, we do not know the reason behind her depression." "We have registered an accidental death case in this regard," Thorat said. According to the police, the techie, a native of Ahilyanagar, went out of her rented flat on May 30. She returned to the housing society around 4.20am on May 31 and went to her flat.
