Katherine Heigl can't 'fathom' ditching family life for Hollywood comeback

Perth Now29-04-2025

Katherine Heigl couldn't "fathom" swapping her Utah life for a return to Hollywood.
The '27 Dresses' actress - who has children Naleigh, 15, Adalaide, 13, and Joshua, eight, with her husband Josh Kelley - left Los Angeles several years ago to focus on her family, and she couldn't see herself uprooting her life to plot a return to acting.
She told E! News: "When they're little, that's the most delicious and exciting time for you as a parent, but when they're teenagers is when they need you the most, and that's where I'm at.
"I just don't see how I could go off and make a movie for three months or a television series for nine months.
"Nothing shoots in Utah, so I have to go on location, and it's just it's not something right now that I can fathom doing successfully.
"I think I would be so torn and divided. I don't know how much of my attention I could give a project when I'm worried about my kids at home."
Katherine's last movie role was in 2021's 'Fear of Rain' - although she has been cast as Patty Amore in musical rom-com 'That's Amore!' - and she hasn't appeared on television since the second part of 'Firefly Lane' season two aired in 2023.
Occasionally, the 46-year-old star - who has found "so much joy and contentment and clarity and grounding" in her new life - wonders if she should be trying to rediscover her acting career.
She explained: "Sometimes I ask myself if I should be in the game, if I should be hustling, if I should be more ambitious. And I just think I really don't want to.
"If you don't want that, then don't do it, just because you think that's what you're supposed to do, or that's what society expects from you."
Instead, the 'Grey's Anatomy' finds herself in a "happy and content" place spending time with her kids.
She added: "I'm really happy and content and I'm so grateful for the years I had in the industry, in the hustle.
"My children were younger, and though I will always regret so much of the time I missed with them while I was hustling, while I was working, I am grateful to be here now."

Conner Smith knocks down pedestrian in fatal accident

Conner Smith was involved in a fatal accident on Sunday (08.06.25). The 24-year-old country singer is at the centre of an investigation by police in Nashville after his pickup truck struck Dorothy Dobbins, 77, who appeared to be walking inside a marked crosswalk at the time. She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center but tragically passed away shortly afterwards. According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Conner showed "no signs of impairment" but the preliminary contributing factor to the fatal accident was the I Hate Alabama singer's failure to give the pedestrian the right of way. No charges have been filed in the case. Conner has sent his condolences to Dorothy's family. His attorney, Worrick G. Robinson, told E! News: 'On June 8th, Mr. Smith was involved in a car accident that tragically claimed a life. "His heart goes out to Ms. Dobbins' family during this incredibly difficult time. 'Mr. Smith continues to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.' Earlier in the weekend, Conner had performed at the CMA Fest in Nashville, and the singer - who married Leah Thompson last year - admitted getting on stage was a career highlight because of his fond memories of attending the event in previous years. He told American Songwriter: 'I just remember coming down here and watching people on that stage and dreaming about it, and looking up to the guys on that stage. "And then when you get to be up there and see people come in and pack out that lawn for you, it feels really cool.' And having his family in attendance made the concert even more special. He added: 'We always have family and friends out here as well. [It was] a really special moment.' Conner shot to fame with his viral single I Hate Alabama in 2021 and he released his debut album, Smoky Mountains, last year.

Nicole Scherzinger was 'never satisfied' with career

Nicole Scherzinger was "never satisfied" with herself until she landed her role in Sunset Boulevard. The former Pussycat Dolls singer - who first played Norma Desmond in the revival in London's West End before transferring over to New York's Broadway - credits the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical for changing her life because she didn't think she'd achieved her "full potential" before stepping onto the stage in the show. Speaking on the red carpet at the Tony Awards on Sunday (08.06.25), Nicole told E! News: 'I always felt like I wasn't living in my full potential, my full purpose, and I was never happy with myself, never satisfied. 'It's because I knew I had so much more to give, and this role in this opportunity allowed me to give all of me, and it's changed my life, and I'm so grateful for it.' The 46-year-old star believes her work on Sunset Blvd. - for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical - has helped her find a better way to "connect" with people, She said: 'I'm so grateful that I'm able to connect with people on a deeper, soulful, spiritual level, that I could make a difference in these people's lives, because that's what we do it for. "That's exactly what we do it for. So I'm just so thankful.' But Nicole doesn't believe she could have handled her gruelling stage schedule without her faith. She said: 'I'm still tired because I just finished a matinee and cried my eyes out in that performance. I'm just grateful. 'I'm grateful to God, because God has carried me when I wanted to give up, and he has held me through this entire process. So I give all the glory to Him. Already. It's a very been a very healing process for me.' During her acceptance speech at the Tony Awards, Nicole urged people not to "give up" on their dreams. She said: "Growing up, I always felt like I didn't belong, but you all have made me feel like I belong and I have come home at last. "So if there is anyone who feels like they don't belong or your time hasn't come, don't give up. Just keep on giving and giving because the world needs your love and light more than ever. This is a testament that love always wins." The former X Factor judge - who previously won an Olivier Award for Best Actress when she plated the role in London - fought off competition from Death Becomes Her stars Megan Hilty and Jennifer Simard, Audra McDonald for her role in Gypsy, Boop actress Jasmine Amy Rogers to collect the coveted prize.

Hopefully you're up to some fun and exciting things for the next few days, or are sitting at home playing with your brand-new Nintendo Switch 2. We're gearing up for some exciting stuff, with a few of our writers off on international trips for some exciting, secret things we can show off in the coming weeks. In the meantime, here are a few exciting things we can share now: a few of our favourite things from our personal collections, as well as a special message from one of Man of Many's co-founders. Enjoy! Blundstone #2446's Blundstone #2446's Beatrix Boon – Social Content Producer I took my Blundstone #2446's with me on a recent trip to New York, and at the time, it was a bit of a risk considering I hadn't worn them a bunch till then. But now I can't take them off! I've always been a sneaker person, but ever since breaking them in, they are genuinely more comfortable than my trainers. Between walking Brooklyn streets and navigating Manhattan subways, they held up beautifully — It was all-day comfort and classic style. Plus, the leather is wearing so nicely, I can tell they're gonna be with me for a long time to come. Safe to say, they've officially earned a permanent spot in my rotation. Elden Ring: Nightreign is Kicking My Ass Dean Blake – Entertainment and Tech Journalist As someone who has spent hundreds of hours of his life dying repeatedly in most of From Software's dark fantasy games, Elden Ring: Nightreign feels very familiar, but also very different. It's effectively the same old Souls formula—a third-person action RPG with much of the gameplay dictated by how well you can manage your stamina bar when being pelted by an over-aggressive enemy—but with a much bigger focus on multiplayer and a rogue-like gameplay loop. You (and potentially two others) are dropped into the game's large, detailed map, and are given 2 in-game days to explore, collect weapons, power-up your chosen character, and get to the next major boss fight before the rains come and lay waste to the world. You're effectively avoiding the storm from Fortnite, only without slurp juice for safety. After surviving two nights, you're taken straight to the run-ending boss, and get rewards based on how well you do. Then, you do it all again. It's much faster than almost any other Souls-style game From has made, and reduces much of the RPG-elements in order to speed up decision making. You're not building out a custom character but are choosing an archetype (Strength-based Barbarian, or Magic-focused Witch, for example) and leaning into it wholeheartedly. It makes it both an easier game to recommend to newcomers, and way harder. Runs aren't too long, lasting about 40 minutes if everything goes well and you actually manage to beat whatever Nightlord you've chosen to take on. If you're like me though, you're probably spending 10-15 minutes solo grinding through the world before getting absolutely hammered by the first boss. The single player scaling isn't quite there yet, so bring some friends.
