Former Flyer Obi Toppin helps Pacers comeback, win Game 1
A former University of Dayton men's basketball star helped the Indiana Pacers stun Oklahoma City in Game 1 of the 2025 NBA Finals.

Obi Toppin came off the bench and scored 17 points for the Pacers. Tyrese Halliburton's buried the game-winning jumper with less than a second to go in a 111-110 victory.

The Pacers lead the Thunder, 1-0, in the best-of-seven series. Game 2 will be Sunday night in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma City led by as much as 15 points in the fourth quarter as the Pacers turned it over 25 times, including 19 in the first half.
Indiana scored 66 second-half points, including 35 in the fourth quarter.
Toppin scored 11 of his 17 points in the second half.
'I feel like we can win every single game. If we lose a game, it's really our fault and mistakes,' he said.
Toppin said the Pacers have work to do on some things after the 19 first-half turnovers.
'We got a win in the Finals and got three more to go,' he added.

NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led Oklahoma City with 38 points.
'We had control of the game for the most part,' Gilgeous-Alexander said. 'Now, it's a 48-minute game. And they teach you that lesson more than anyone else in the league — the hard way.'
Game 2 will be Sunday, June 8, at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City at 8 p.m.

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Jacob Wilson had three hits and two RBIs, Brent Rooker drove in the tiebreaking run and the Athletics beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-4 on Friday night. Mason Miller got the last five outs to get his 13th save as the Athletics got back-to-back wins for the first time since May 4-5 and ended the Orioles' six-game win streak. Miller struck out two after coming in with one out and the bases loaded in the eighth inning. He then struck out Adley Rutschman looking on three pitches to begin the ninth before walking Ramón Laureano on a full count. Ryan O'Hearn flied out to left and Ramón Urías hit a comebacker to end it. Dylan Carlson hit his third homer — a two-run shot in the second off JP Sears to give Baltimore the lead. Jackson Holliday doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ramón Laureano to make it 3-0 in the third. The Athletics scored four runs to take the lead in the bottom of the third against Dean Kremer. Lawrence Butler drove in the first run with his 20th double, Wilson had a two-run single, and Tyler Soderstrom put the A's ahead with a run-scoring grounder. Holliday hit his eighth homer — a solo shot leading off the fifth — to tie it. He finished a triple shy of the cycle. Butler, Wilson and Rooker had three straight singles in the bottom of the fifth to give the Athletics a 5-4 lead. Sears (5-5) gave up four runs and four hits in five innings. Bodine hits go-ahead homer in 10th, Coastal Carolina opens super regional with 7-6 win over Auburn
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) — Caden Bodine hit a go-ahead homer in the 10th inning, his second long ball of the game, Blagen Pado also homered twice, and Coastal Carolina opened the Auburn Super Regional with a 7-6 victory over the host Tigers in a contest that ended early Saturday morning. The game was delayed for nearly two hours in the middle of the sixth inning due to weather, with Coastal Carolina leading 6-3. Advertisement When play resumed, Auburn scored an unearned run in the sixth to get within 6-4. Eric Snow tied it at 6 with a solo shot over the giant War Eagle Wall in left field in a two-run seventh. Auburn had two on with no outs in the ninth, but Matthew Potok got out of the jam with a strikeout and double play. CCU second baseman Blake Barthol made the inning-ending double play for the second straight frame in the 10th to secure the win.
