13 potential hosts for the 2026 Oscars, including The Rock
When the 2026 Oscars debut, it will need a host, and we have some ideas.
Listen, this is no offense to anyone who has previously hosted. They've done a lovely job. Billy Crystal being on nine times is a feat in itself. However, Billy likely won't do a tenth time (despite our wishes), so that means we need new blood.
That's right. The Academy Awards needs some new faces on stage. Folks who are witty, daring, creative and, most importantly, funny. (That's no slight to you, Jimmy Kimmel, but we've seen enough of you over the last decade to last us a lifetime). Sure, Conan O'Brien was fine for this year, but things could get really fun for 2026.
Here are 13 people we think could host the Oscars next year:
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
Glen Powell
John Mulaney
Nikki Glaser
Keke Palmer
Nate Bargatze
Steve Carell
Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Queen Latifah
Gabriel Iglesias
Keegan-Michael Key
Melissa McCarthy
Quinta Brunson

Miley Cyrus and Boyfriend Maxx Morando Take Couple Coordinating to a Whole New Level with Matching Hairstyles

Miley Cyrus and boyfriend Maxx Morando went out for a glamorous date night in New York City on June 5 While the couple didn't coordinate their ensembles, they did have matching hairstyles Cyrus and Morando have been dating since 2021Miley Cyrus and her boyfriend, Maxx Morando, are hair twins. The "Flowers" singer, 32, was spotted having a fashionable night out with her musician boyfriend, 26, in New York City, on Thursday, June 5. The couple was spotted leaving the Four Seasons Hotel after Cyrus' private event, then they set off for the rest of their evening. For their date night, Cyrus wore a brown satin, fitted cone bra dress with black criss-cross lace details down the front of the dress, as well as the hips. The hem of the dress featured a long fringe that swayed as the singer walked. Morando kept his look classic for the evening, wearing an all black suit consisting of a jacket, matching shirt and black pants. For a casual touch, the musician kept a couple of buttons loose to expose a white crew neck undershirt. Though their outfits were distinct, the couple matched when it came to the way they styled their hair. Cyrus styled her brunette hair with blonde highlights in carefree curls that cascaded down her back. She also styled her now grown out baby bangs into curls that were flipped away from her face, and folded in seamlessly into the rest of her hair. Morando, meanwhile, kept his overgrown mullet and bangs styled as he normally does — he let his natural curls pop, with a few pieces laying less than perfectly for a chic touch. Cyrus' curls paired with Morando's curls led to a matching hair moment that recalled the likes of David and Victoria Beckham's twinning hair styles in the 2000s, or Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt in the '90s. Cyrus and Morando's last major matching hair moment came in March, when the couple walked the red carpet at the 97th annual Oscars on March 2. is now available in the Apple App Store! For the glamorous red carpet date night, Cyrus wore a custom Alexander McQueen black halter dress with sequined and sheer elements. Though Cyrus would debut baby bangs later that night, she started off the evening with old Hollywood-inspired curls. Morando similarly kept his mullet styled in his natural curls, though his were wispier and highlighted with blonde — a near-direct match to Cyrus's blonde highlights for the evening. WBD Shareholders Nix David Zaslav's 2024 Pay Package In Non-Binding Vote

Shareholders at Warner Bros. Discovery gave a thumbs down to the company's executive compensation for 2024 — multi-million dollar paydays led by CEO David Zaslav's $51.9 million package. The vote, informally called say-on-pay, is required at publicly traded companies but nonetheless non-binding. Boards of directors insist that they take the votes to heart and if there's dissent engage seriously with their biggest shareholders, and that is sometimes the case. At Warner Bros. Discovery, however, Zaslav's pay has been in the spotlight for years, including on the picket lines during the recent Hollywood strikes. Discovery To Junk Status On "Weak Credit Metrics" That Would Get Worse If Company Splits Stockholders at the company's annual meeting declined to approve, 'on a non-binding, advisory basis, the 2024 compensation of the Company's named executive officers,' WBD noted in an SEC filing with the result of votes cast showing that 59% of shareholders who cast ballots voted against WBD's pay plans. The general rule of thumb is that support less than 70% is notable. Waner Bros. Discovery stock has floundered since the merger three years ago, which burdened the company with debt. Credit ratings agency S&P last month downgraded it to junk status citing 'weak credit metrics.' It's not just that. Pay experts noted that members of the board's compensation committee decided to adjust the metrics they themselves set in order to pay the chief executive more. Public companies report the pay of their top five highest paid executive officers in annual proxy statements filed with the SEC each spring for the previous year (if they operate on a calendar year). Pay is one of a handful of items along with the election of directors and shareholder resolutions that stockholders vote on at annual meetings. Leading proxy advisory firm Institutional Shareholder Services, which puts out highly reseached reports each year ahead of annual meetings to guide shareholders, recommended voting against WBD's executive pay and said the 'compensation committee demonstrated only limited responsiveness to shareholder concerns following consecutive years of low say-on-pay support.' In a statement today, Warner Bros. Discovery's Board of Directors said it 'appreciates the views of all its shareholders and takes the results of the annual advisory vote on executive compensation seriously. The Compensation Committee of the Board looks forward to continuing its regular practice of engaging in constructive dialogue with our shareholders.' Ryan Coogler Remembers Reaction to Denzel Washington's Reveal That He's Joining BLACK PANTHER III — GeekTyrant

Marvel is known both for its secrecy, and its pageantry, when it comes to revealing big name stars in the studio's upcoming films. They've been known to do it from the Comic-Con stage, to roaring fans, as well as via five-and-a-half-hour livestreams a la Avengers: Doomsday . So when Denzel Washington casually dropped the bomb that he was going to join the cast of Ryan Coogler's Marvel sequel, Black Panther III , fans and studio execs alike were stunned. A lesser actor may have been in major trouble, but in the case of Academy Award-winner Washington, it seems like everyone was just amused. During an appearance on the podcast 7PM in Brooklyn (via CB), Coogler was asked directly about the comments Washington made while on the Gladiator II press tour. The filmmaker revealed that he is indeed hoping to work with Washington in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Coogler spent some time discussing his close personal history with Washington, explaining how he's fortunate enough to view the Hollywood icon as 'family.' He's been hoping to collaborate with Washington and is excited for them to work together. Coogler explained, 'There's no fiction out there. Denzel is family at this point … I've been trying to work with him since day one. I think he's the greatest living actor, and in terms of what he means to our culture, forget about it. I've been talking to him about this to him for a long time … I was surprised when he mentioned it, but it's not like it's not true.' Washington called Coogler after his reveal and apologized for spilling the news. We still don't know who the actor will play in the sequel, but it's bound to be good. Black Panther III is currently in development, but it has not been officially dated on Marvel's release schedule yet. Stay tuned for updates.
