Celebrate the 4th of July with ‘Freedom Festival' with fun zones and fireworks
ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) – With Independence Day around the corner, PLAY Roanoke announced the plans for the annual Freedom Festival on Thursday, July 3.
The Freedom Festival will be at River's Edge Park North along Reserve Avenue and across from Carilion Riverside.
This event will include free family-fun activities with inflatables, trampolines, face painting, and more with food trucks onsite. The fun zone will be from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Music lineups from 5 Points Music Sanctuary will the following bands.
4:45-5:45 p.m. Troublesome Blues Band
6:00-7:30 p.m. Empty Bottles
7:45-9:15 p.m. Chasin' Aldean
The firework display will start at 9:30 p.m. and the show will extend for an extra 20 minutes, unlike previous years.
With this event taking place on July 3, this allows the City of Roanoke to host a bigger firework display on Friday, July 4.

Street Food Cinema is telling dog-loving Angelenos, 'As you wish,' for Fourth of July weekend. A celebration for the whole family, Street Food Cinema knows that Independence Day isn't only about big firework spectaculars. The city's largest outdoor cinema series knows very well that any good holiday memory includes your beloved four-legged friend. On July 5, it will screen The Princess Bride at the Autry Museum in Griffith Park, and dogs are welcome to join. Street Food Cinema is more than just watching a movie. The Independence Day weekend showing will feature live music, city-favorite food trucks, concessions, a full bar, specialty cocktails inspired by the laugh-out-loud fantasy adventure and the chance to win a pair of Hollywood Bowl tickets by playing movie trivia. Guests with dogs in their group just need to be sure their pups are leashed at all times. After the movie, the holiday fun will culminate in a projection of Fourth of July visuals instead of fireworks. The Autry Museum of located at 4700 Western Heritage Way. With tickets starting at $22, doors will open at 6 p.m. The live music starts at 7 p.m., followed by the movie at 8:30 p.m. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis for both the general admission and reserved section. Tickets are available on SFC's website now. Since 2012, SFC has put on more than 50 events every year, including its outdoor summer series. NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Every year, Independence Day is commemorated throughout the country with fireworks, barbeque, patriotic music and the like. To help you find somewhere to wear your red, white and blue, WGNO has compiled a list of Fourth of July events throughout the Greater New Orleans area. Learning dance moves from 'Velma Kelly' from Broadway's 'Chicago' Riverfront Marketing Group will showcase a dazzling fireworks show over the Mississippi River on Friday, July 4. The show can be viewed from the East and West Banks of the Mississippi River. This year's display will feature more pyrotechnic shells and special effect features than ever before, according to a news release. Downtown Riverfront, New Orleans All day event Patriotic Calliope concerts at 10:30 a.m., 1:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Trinitones concerts at 2 and 8 p.m. Water show at 6:30 p.m. Fireworks at 9 p.m. Hot dog restaurant Dat Dog is hosting its second annual festival on Friday, July 4. According to a post by Dat Dog, the event will include music, beer and samples from its Dog Design Contest finalists. The winner's hot dog will be added to the Dat Dog menu.
