Trapilo, a 6-foot-8-inch, 316-pound offensive tackle from Norwell, earned Atlantic Coast Conference first-team honors this past season. He started 36 games at right or left tackle during his BC career and boasted a team-best 80.5 pass-block rating from Pro Football Focus this year.

A cerebral and physical force who moves well for his size, he's a difficult matchup for often-overpowered defensive linemen.
'You may think someone that big is not an athlete,' ESPN's Booger McFarland said. 'He plays light on his feet, heavy hands, position flexibility, able to move.'
Trapilo completed the 40-yard dash in 5.21 seconds, three-cone drill in 7.71 seconds, and 20-yard shuttle in 4.7 seconds at the NFL Scouting Combine.

He trained with former Patriots offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia, alongside childhood friend and BC teammate Drew Kendall, in the months leading up to the Draft.
'His résumé doesn't lie,' Trapilo said of Scarnecchia. 'He's a fantastic coach. Being able to work with him means a lot.'

BC head coach Bill O'Brien said Trapilo is someone who is the same every day, adding that he'll be 'a great pro.'
'He'll do whatever you ask him to do,' O'Brien said. 'He always puts the team first.'

Rashawn Slater returns to Chargers minicamp amid contract talks

He wasn't under the watchful eye of Chargers executive director of player performance Ben Herbert this offseason. He didn't train in the team's El Segundo practice facility. But it doesn't mean Rashawn Slater wasn't working this offseason. Making his first offseason appearance at the Chargers facility this week as the team started mandatory mini camp, Slater immediately passed the team's conditioning test. In fact, Jim Harbaugh said, Slater reported the test was too easy. 'Too easy,' the coach said, 'because he trains.' Slater's return highlighted the Chargers' perfect attendance on the first day of three-day minicamp Tuesday. The star left tackle had missed all of voluntary organized team activities while in discussions for a contract extension. Since the Chargers took him 13th overall in 2021, Slater has earned two Pro Bowl appearances and was named second-team All-Pro in 2021. After the team picked up his fifth-year option last season, Slater re-established himself as one of the top tackles in the league with the second-best overall grade and third-best pass blocking grade among his position, according to Pro Football Focus. In the final year of his contract, he is due to make about $19 million in 2025, which ranks sixth-most among left tackles, according to 'Speaking on behalf of everyone in the organization, fully support Rashawn and what he's trying to accomplish for himself and his family,' said Harbaugh, who added he chooses not to worry about discussions as they continue between general manager Joe Hortiz and Slater's representatives. 'We're all in support.' Slater has maintained his standing in the organization because of his respected work ethic that earned him distinction of being a team captain last season. Harbaugh counts Slater is part of an exclusive club made of the team's nine hardest workers. The coach's so-called 'Elite Nine' also includes Derwin James Jr., Khalil Mack, Joe Alt, Ladd McConkey, Daiyan Henley, Tuli Tuipulotu, Zion Johnson and Justin Herbert. Now in his second year at the helm, Harbaugh expects confidence and polish during training camp from experienced players. The coach has already found a standard bearer in Herbert, who is still searching for his first NFL playoff win after having four passes intercepted in last year's wild-card loss to Houston, 'I wouldn't change a thing about Justin Herbert,' Harbaugh said. 'I think the important thing is everyone else, especially the guys he's counting on, on the offensive side of the ball, just look at his example, how he goes about his business, how he trains and they attempt to get to that level.' The quarterback's training was so relentless that he missed his planned media availability Tuesday. He was lifting instead. J.K. Dobbins signs with Denver Broncos Former Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins signed a reported one-year, $5.25-million deal with the Denver Broncos on Tuesday after the Chargers placed a rarely used unrestricted free agent tender on the 25-year-old. The Chargers would have had Dobbins' exclusive negotiating rights if he hadn't signed with another team by July 23. Dobbins is coming off a career-high 905 yards rushing last season when he finished as the runner-up for the NFL's comeback player of the year in his first full season since 2020. But his return to the Chargers has been in question since the team picked running back Omarion Hampton 22nd overall in April's draft. Hampton, who rushed for 1,660 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior at North Carolina, has joined with free-agent addition Najee Harris to form an impressive one-two backfield punch. 'I like Omarion, how he's hitting the hole,' James Jr., said when asked which rookies are standing out to him. 'Can't really tell right now, but I like Omarion a lot.' Hampton leads a rookie class that Harbaugh lauded as being 'as good of a rookie class as I've ever been around in terms of being about their business.' 'Being where they're supposed to be when they're supposed to be there,' Harbaugh said. 'We have to kick them out of the building.' But even the staff's best attempts sometimes aren't enough. Harbaugh said he often notices the rookies looking for safe harbor in other rooms. Etc. The Chargers brought in receiver Willie Snead IV for a veteran tryout. The 32-year-old last played in an NFL game in 2023, appearing in four games for the San Francisco 49ers, catching two passes for 14 yards.

Vikings agree to 3-year contract with TE Josh Oliver, ease LT Christian Darrisaw back into practice

Associated Press MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Vikings agreed to terms with tight end Josh Oliver on a three-year contract extension worth more than $23 million on Tuesday, enhancing their commitment to a key part of their running game. Oliver's deal, which was done right before the team took the field for the beginning of the three-day mandatory minicamp, has a maximum value of $27.5 million that includes $19.9 million in guaranteed money. Oliver had career highs last season with 258 receiving yards and three touchdowns while expanding his involvement in the passing attack along with his primary role as a run blocker. With fellow tight end T.J. Hockenson a significant down-field complement to wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison, Oliver has benefited by frequently finding himself open on the limited occasions he's running a route. 'We've got weapons everywhere,' Oliver said after practice. Pro Football Focus analysts gave Oliver the best run-blocking grade among all NFL tight ends who played at least half of the blocking snaps in 2024. He also got the ninth-highest overall grade in the league at his position, after he was ranked fourth by PFF in 2023. With tackles Brian O'Neill and Christian Darrisaw bookending the line, Oliver has plenty of help when he's in to block. Darrisaw, whose 2024 season ended when he suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee during a game on Oct. 25, returned to individual practice drills on the field with the team on Tuesday in a significant milestone along the way of his recovery. Darrisaw's readiness for the season opener on Sept. 8 remains in question, but he's trending toward resuming his familiar place on the left side of the line early this fall. The 28-year-old Oliver has begun his third season with Minnesota after signing as a free agent in 2023 on a three-year, $21 million contract after two seasons with Baltimore. The 6-foot-5, 259-pound Oliver, who was a third-round draft pick by Jacksonville in 2019 out of San Jose State, was targeted by coach Kevin O'Connell and general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to help aid a running game that has lagged behind their passing attack since their arrival in 2022. The Vikings ranked tied for 19th in the league in 2024 in rushing yards per game, up from 29th in 2023. 'The culture KO and Kwesi have built here, the players in the locker room, man, you love coming to work every day,' Oliver said. 'It's a top-class organization, and I'm just super happy about it.' ___ AP NFL: recommended

Myles Garrett on Aaron Rodgers: 'Good opportunity to put him in the graveyard'

Quarterback and four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers is officially a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. A player that he'll be seeing at least twice next year, Cleveland Browns superstar defensive end Myles Garrett, is pumped — but probably not for the same reason that Rodgers is. "I think it's a good opportunity to put him in the graveyard," Garrett responded on Tuesday when asked what his reaction was to Rodgers signing with the Steelers, according to ESPN. So, there's that. In 2021, it was revealed that Garrett had a Halloween-themed graveyard on his front lawn of all the quarterbacks he had sacked or was planning to take down. After originally requesting a trade in February, Garrett, a four-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler, signed a four-year, $160 million extension ($123.5 million guaranteed) with the Browns, with his $40 million average annual salary breaking the NFL record for a defensive player. Last season, Garrett totaled 14.0 sacks, an NFL-high 22 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and 47 combined tackles. He ranked second among edge defenders in pass-rush grade (92.8) and overall grade (92.3) and 11th in run-defense grade (78.4), according to Pro Football Focus. It marked the second consecutive season that Garrett registered double-digit sacks. As for Garrett's chances of putting Rodgers in the dirt, the defensive end has 13.0 sacks and four forced fumbles in 14 career games against the AFC North-rival Steelers. Garrett has faced off against Rodgers once, with the veteran quarterback's then-Green Bay Packers getting a 24-22 win at home on Christmas Day in the 2021 season. Garrett finished with one combined tackle. Pittsburgh inked the 41-year-old Rodgers to a base one-year, $13.7 million deal earlier this month. He was released by the New York Jets after two seasons in March. Last season, Rodgers totaled 3,897 passing yards, 28 passing touchdowns, 11 interceptions and a 90.5 passer rating, while completing 63.0% of his passes in a 5-12 season for New York. Garrett's first chance to end Rodgers once and for all will be on Oct. 12, when Pittsburgh hosts Cleveland. The two teams split their 2024 regular-season series, with them each winning on their respective home turf. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox?
