Family 'devastated' after cat shot by rifle in Ammanford

On Friday, June 6, Ceri Evans was informed that her cat, called Teddy, had been injured on the High Street.

'At first, we thought it was an abscess, so Teddy was given antibiotics by the vet. Then, on the Wednesday, we found out that she had been shot. The incident had happened within the space of 11 minutes.
'My son is hoping karma sees the person who did this to Teddy while my daughter was away when the incident happened and was devastated when she heard what happened.
'There are a lot of animals in this area and now we know there is someone out there willing to shoot them.'

She continued: 'Why would anyone want to shoot her. She is so friendly. She wouldn't her a fly and she is so sweet. She is not a nasty cat in the slightest.
'Would you shoot someone just for peeing or pooping in your garden? I have the pellet she was shot with, and we have been the told it was taken from close range.
'I phoned the police, but they said they couldn't do anything without evidence or any CCTV footage.'

'In the end we were told it was better for the leg to be amputated. This turned out to be the right choice as the vet said they would have struggled to repair the leg.

'We have to get use to her only having three legs. But we are lucky it wasn't one of the back legs as that would have been worse.'
