On today's Beyond The Gates recap: Dani's Home: Tomas is helping Kat and Chelsea with setting up their new fashion empire. Just then, Dani walks in and trips right into Tomas' arms. Kat re-introduces Tomas to his mother and she asks him about a modeling side hustle. Kat says her boyfriend is a lawyer and has no interest but Dani pushes. Tomas says he is honored but already has a lot on his plate. With that, he says he needs to get to the hospital. Dani can't believe Kat is involved with a boy and wonders if he is trustworthy. Kat assures her aunt Tomas is on the up and up. Chelsea halts her mother which moves Dani to check in on their move. She wants to help them set everything up, despite them wanting to do it all on their own. Dani gets the hint and Chelsea understands about the new modeling agency. Kat gets impatient pushing Chelsea to say, they wanted to live in the guest house so Dani could help them out with their new business. Dani is thrilled and Chelsea sets up the camera to take a picture. They chat a bit more when Dani says she's headed out to check on Bill. Left alone, the cousins giggle with glee over their new digs. Garland Memorial Hospital – Bill's Room: Dr. Montgomery, Hayley and Bill are discussing his possible release. Dr. M wants him to commit to her plan for healing. Bill gripes and Hayley tells him to stand down. She assures the doc she has everything under control and Dr. M exits. Hayley drops the lights down low and projects pictures of them on the wall. The first picture was when she realized he wanted her. The next is from their wedding, prior to Dani pulling a gun. She follows with one from their honeymoon and concludes with the ultrasound of their unborn child. With that, she shows some pictures from their potential future all in an attempt to motivate him to get better. Tomas arrives with all kinds of files as Bill's cases are piling up. Hayley isn't certain but Bill is ready to dig in. Tomas shoots a smile at Hayley as they sit down to go through the files case by case. Garland Memorial Hospital – Lobby: Ashley approaches Andre about her upcoming date with Derek. She thinks she needs to meet up with Derek in public so they can be polite and restrained. Andre thinks Derek maybe simply wants to have a night out with the woman he loves. Ashley thinks Derek is ready to take the natural next step – he wants to say goodbye. Andre asks what she wants, and Ashley says she ants Derek to be happy, even if it's not with her. That being said, she loves him and wants to be with him. Fairmont Country Club: Vernon meets Martin and shows him an update from his grandmother and The Articulettes. As they chat, the sneaky waiter listens in. Vernon talks on and on about Anita when Martin says the grandkids are just as lucky. He mentions his kids and then says he has something to dump on his grandfather who is more than ready to listen. Martin tells Vernon about the flashbacks/hallucinations he's been experiencing. He says the visions are now coming to him when he's awake. Vernon inquires and Martin says he heard the person saying 'let's see what color is your money' when he was with a staffer. Martin says he told his mother, and Vernon is aghast by the implications. Vernon says Martin must only confide in him. Martin says he didn't give his mother any details. He promises not to provide any details to anyone. Vernon reminds his grandson how much they've risked keeping all of this mess silent but Martin isn't certain how much more he can take. Just then, our nosy waiter creeps around the table. Orphey Gene's: Naomi questions Derek about his upcoming date with Ashley. Naomi wonders if Derek really wants to go through with what he has planned. He says he knows in his heart his plans are the right thing to do. Before he goes, Naomi gives him a hug for good luck. Uptown: Derek and Ashley awkwardly greet one another and take a seat. She immediately launches into her insecurities about them breaking up. Derek says he brought her there because there is nothing too good for the future Mrs. Baldwin. From booty call to ‘foodie call' — free dinner scammers flood dating apps as wallets tighten
Love might be off the menu — but the lobster sure isn't. With wallets tightening and a looming recession on the rise, some singles are turning first dates into free dinner scams. Countless TikTokkers are proudly documenting their foodie finesse, using Hinge and Bumble like Doordash — to score meals on someone else's dime. This is referred to as a 'foodie call' — where someone nabs a free meal with no plans to ever call, text or date the poor sap who picked up the check. South Carolina graphic designer Katheryne Slack told MarketWatch in a recent interview that she realized she was out of coffee one Sunday and used a thirsty Hinge match to score a caffeine fix. Outta beans and full of schemes, Slack hit up her suitor for a free cup o' joe. The pair had exchanged flirty messages days earlier, but plans fizzled — until she pounced when the timing finally lined up. An hour later, they were sipping lattes at his expense at a café. 'As soon as I met him, I knew I wasn't into him. But I was already there and needed my coffee,' she told the outlet. And she's far from the only one who sees things this way, TikTok is filled with cheeky clips of users bragging about 'dating for dinner' — a budgeting 'hack.' In one recent video, user @jocelynaleenaa can be seen at a restaurant table. In white text over the clip, she wrote, 'when you keep going on dates for the free food & drinks.' Another user commented beneath the TikTok, 'I did this for 2 weeks straight once I was never hungry.' One other added, 'Girl I feel you.' Some are joking that back-to-back dates are their version of meal prepping. User @alanarixonn filmed herself dancing last month with the caption, 'off on my 2nd date this week cos I cba to meal prep x.' One viewer wrote under the video, 'the fact that this isn't a joke.' Someone else replied, 'It's like a meal voucher because you are putting in the work. You deserve it queen.' An additional supporter chimed in, 'This is low key genius' as one other noted, 'Love doing this #thinksmarternotharder.' Dating with the intention of nabbing a free bite to eat isn't new. A 2019 study published in the 'Society for Personality and Social Psychology' journal dove deeper into 'foodie calls.' The study found up to 1 in 3 women admitted to going on dates for free grub. As per the researchers, anyone who thinks it's cool to dine and dash emotionally are more likely to show signs of narcissism, psychopathy and Machiavellianism — aka the 'dark triad.' With sky-high rents and an endless lineup of buzzy eateries, NYC could be seen as a foodie call free-for-all. East Village local Olivia Balsinger once scored a five-course feast at swanky seafood hotspot Catch in the Meatpacking District — all on someone else's dime. 'If I had been forced to pay,' she told The Post, 'I probably wouldn't have been able to eat for weeks afterward.' Overall, while 'dating for dinner' isn't entirely novel, it's hitting harder now as tariffs bite into wallets, recession jitters grow, and job security feels shakier than ever.

The piece has since been adapted to complement Schaulager's own architectural character, flooding the space with a 40-minute, immersive presentation of low-frequency tones and spears of shifting hues. 'What I love about light and sound is that they are both created through movement and fluidity.' McQueen wrote in a recent statement. 'They can be molded into any shape, like vapor or a scent; they can sneak into any nook and cranny.' In-hand with this exploration of light – exquisite in its luminosity and imperceptible ebbs and flows – the piece also wrestles with familiar questions for McQueen: those of identity, absence and the trauma of the Black diaspora.
