In a major blow to India's arch-nemesis, Pakistan, Taiwan's drone manufacturing company Drones Vision has denied any agreement with it. In the recent turn of events, the Taiwanese company has said that it is not in contact with the Pakistani Army. For those unversed, there were some media reports that said the Taiwanese company is in talks with Karachi-based defense company for purchasing drones. However, the company has rejected all the claims. Here are all the details on the latest development.
Notably, the Taiwanese company, Drones Vision has been in news for supplying drones to India. As per a report by The Sunday Guardian, the Taiwanese company Drones Vision is famous for making drones and anti-UAV technology for military purposes.
If reports are to believed, the Ukrainian army has used these drones in the war with Russia and very recently, it was reported that talks were on between Pakistan's Universal Smart Military Systems (USMS) and Drones Vision. Notably, USMS is a partner of the Pakistan Air Force.
'Till date we have not done any transaction or deal in Pakistan. We have not even received any order from Pakistan', the company has said in its statement rejected the claim that the Pakistani army was in talks with it for the purchase of drones. Readers should note that Taiwan and India enjoy good relations in the field of technology and defense and helping Pakistan might disturb the good relations, the Taiwanese company enjoys with India.

Wholesale price inflation dips to 0.39% in May
Wholesale price inflation (WPI) declined to 0.39% in May as prices of food articles, manufactured products, and fuel eased, government data showed on Monday (June 16, 2025). WPI-based inflation was 0.85% in April. It was 2.74% in May last year. "Positive rate of inflation in May 2025 is primarily due to increase in prices of manufacture of food products, electricity, other manufacturing, chemicals and chemical products, manufacture of other transport equipment and non-food articles, etc," the Industry Ministry said in a statement. As per the WPI data, food articles saw a deflation of 1.56% in May, against a deflation of 0.86% in April, with vegetables seeing a sharp drop. Deflation in vegetables was 21.62% in May, compared to 18.26%in April. Manufactured products, however, saw inflation at 2.04%, compared to 2.62% in April. Fuel and power, too, saw a deflation of 2.27% in May, compared to a 2.18% inflation in April. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) mainly takes into account retail inflation while formulating monetary policy. Data released last week showed, retail inflation eased to over six-year-low of 2.82% in May mainly due subdued food prices. The RBI this month cut benchmark policy interest rates by a sharp 0.50% to 5.50% amid easing inflation.

Israel-Iran conflict leads to fuel crisis in Pakistan's Balochistan
The Israel-Iran conflict has led to a fuel crisis in Pakistan's Balochistan province, which shares borders with Iran and Afghanistan. Since Sunday, a large number of petrol stations, heavily dependent on petrol and diesel smuggled from Iran, started closing across Balochistan, causing panic among people. Hundreds of vehicle owners who lined up at petrol stations returned home disappointed as these stations, which sell smuggled Iranian fuel products, started closing. Later, as per notifications issued by deputy commissioners across Balochistan, all pedestrian and trade movement, including fuel delivery, has been suspended indefinitely as a 'precautionary security measure'. The notification also said that the border crossings with Iran in Panjgur and Gwadar districts had been sealed for security reasons. The Gabd-Kalato 250 border point in Gwadar, a key route for local trade and oil transport from Iran, was also closed until further notice, a Levies official confirmed. The developments came as the federal government increased the prices of both petrol and diesel, with their rates climbing by Rs 4.80 and Rs 7.95 per litre, respectively. Iranian fuel, which is cheaper than the fuel processed and sold by Pakistani companies, is the main source of supply for Balochistan despite a ban on its sale in many areas that goes unheeded at many petrol stations. The Levies source said that due to the escalating Israel-Iran conflict, the supply of fuel from Iran had been affected as this was brought into Pakistan from border towns. The border districts of Balochistan with Iran, including Turbat, Gwadar, Panjgur, Chagai, Washuk, and Mashkail are worst-affected, as they were not only facing suspension of Iranian oil supply, but also a food shortage, as most edible supplies come from Iran. Around 60 to 70 per cent of petrol stations have been closed due to the suspension of the supply of Iranian smuggled oil through Makran, Rakhshan and Chagai areas. A spokesperson for the Balochistan government, however, played down the situation, claiming that there was no fuel shortage in the province, as most petrol stations were open in the provincial capital. In a statement, Shahid Rind refuted the impression that the province was facing a fuel shortage. He said that petrol stations selling Iranian oil are a safety hazard, which is why the government initiated action against them earlier this month. He claimed that people minting money by selling Iranian petrol and diesel had started spreading rumours to create panic. 'These so-called shortages are being exaggerated by those who want to lift the ban on smuggled Iranian fuel,' he said.
