Tourist exited Uber and vanished in Florida in 2022, feds say. Body found in Georgia
A missing British man has been found dead more than two years after vanishing while on vacation in Florida, the FBI said.
Agents found the remains of Alex Hodgson Doughty on Feb. 4 'in a wooded area on private land' in Kingsland, Georgia, the agency's Jacksonville office said in a Feb. 21 news release.
A medical examiner with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation positively identified Doughty's remains, and authorities said no criminal charges are expected. No cause of death was given.
Doughty was visiting from the United Kingdom when he vanished in North Florida in September 2022, according to the FBI.
The then-30-year-old was last seen around 1 a.m. Sept. 12, 2022, in the parking lot of a Car Quest auto parts store after exiting an Uber, WJAX reported, citing a NaMUS case file.
Doughty's mother grew worried when she couldn't reach him and contacted police, authorities said. Since then, multiple agencies have helped search for him.
'While we had hoped to bring Mr. Doughty's family better news, we are thankful to be able to provide them with some closure,' Special Agent in Charge Kristin Rehler said in a statement. 'This discovery is the direct result of our partnerships and special agents from FBI Jacksonville's Cellular Analysis Survey Team (CAST), who were relentless in their efforts to narrow down potential search locations.'
The case was investigated by multiple agencies including the FBI Jacksonville Division and State Attorney's Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit, Thames Valley (UK) Police Department, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Kingsland Police Department, the FBI said.
Additional information wasn't immediately available.
Kingsland is about a 30-mile drive north from Jacksonville, Florida.

Police and fire departments of the Port of Seattle are investigating a reported threat made aboard an aircraft on a runway at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Saturday. According to a Port of Seattle travel alert, police and firefighters arrived to investigate the incident — which involved an aircraft on the 16R/34L runway — around 1:00 p.m. Saturday. According to the statement, a suspect was taken into custody. Further investigation found 'made a flippant remark regarding a bomb' to the flight crew. All such remarks are taken seriously and investigated, according to the Port of Seattle statement. The FBI and port police are reviewing the incident and will work with prosecutors to decide whether to pursue charges, according to the statement. As of 1:58 p.m., Port of Seattle updated their travel alert to state all passengers have been deplaned and the center runway had been reopened. According to the statement, the aircraft was cleared by 3 p.m. and towed back to the terminal, and runway 16R/34L was reopened by 3:15 p.m. At 3:19 p.m., the Port of Seattle issued another update announcing that the airport would return to normal operations. Travelers are advised to monitor their airlines for further information on their specific flights. Manhunt continues for Minnesota shooting suspect Vance Boelter
Around 24 hours after police say a gunman killed a Minnesota state lawmaker and her husband, plus wounded another lawmaker and his wife, suspect Vance Boelter remains on the run, authorities have said. The shootings began around 2 a.m. Saturday, when Minnesota State Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, were both shot multiple times at their home in Champlin, Minnesota, authorities said. Soon after, State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, were shot and killed at their home in Brooklyn Park. Police encountered the gunman leaving Hortman's house at around 3:35 a.m., the officers heading there to check on the lawmaker after responding to the earlier shooting at Hoffman's home. The suspect exchanged gunfire with police and was able to escape and flee on foot, authorities said. The FBI is "using every available resource to locate Vance Boelter," FBI Minneapolis Special Agent in Charge Alvin M. Winston Sr. said in a statement. The FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to Boelter's arrest. The 57-year-old suspect is alleged to have gained access to the victim's homes while posing as a police officer. Police believe that when the shooter opened fire, he was wearing a latex mask that looked realistic, sources said. Boelter -- a husband and father, according to an online biography -- has touted an extensive background in security and military training, according to an ABC News review of his online presence and professional history. Boelter helped lead the private security firm Praetorian Guard Security Services, which is based in the Twin Cities area, according to the company website. Dozens of Minnesota Democrats were on a target list written by the gunman, according to law enforcement sources. Those on the list included Gov. Tim Walz, U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar, U.S. Sen. Tina Smith and state Attorney General Keith Ellison, according to law enforcement sources familiar with the matter. John Hoffman inside their Minneapolis suburb home early Saturday morning, according to Hoffman's nephew.
