Russell Martin quotes on Rangers loan spell revisited
The 39-year-old, who had a short loan spell at the club in 2018, will sign a three-year deal after agreeing terms. Martin will be officially unveiled by the club within the next 48 hours. He has been chosen over Davide Ancelotti as the preferred candidate for the role. Martin, who was on loan from Norwich, played 17 times for Rangers during the 2017/18 season. Read more: Former Rangers stars could be axed after just one year at Turkish club Russell Martin reveals he 'turned down a few jobs' before agreeing Rangers deal The club finished third in the Scottish Premiership that season and sacked manager Pedro Caixinha after just a few months in charge. Speaking to the Eastern Daily Press in 2018 about his time at Rangers, Martin said: "I don't think anything can prepare you for it. "It's huge. "You've got an idea, but it's only when you go up there that you realise how big it is. "Just walking around the streets, it's a giant of a football club with a great fan base. "For me, it was a bit wrong place, wrong time. "The club was a bit all over the place and then a change of manager, who was an interim manager anyway (Graeme Murty). "But I loved playing for a football club of that size and that support." Martin's experience of the club, albeit during a troubled time, is expected to help him in his new role. He previously admitted he didn't fully understand the scale of Rangers until he joined. His knowledge of the club and its demands are expected to stand him in good stead as he takes on the managerial position.

Ben Davies should snub Wrexham and stay in Premier League
Tottenham Hotspur defender Davies has been linked with Phil Parkinson's Reds who will line-up in the Championship next season after securing an historic third successive promotion. Since joining Spurs in July 2014 from Swansea City, the Wales international has made nearly 250 appearances in the top flight and was an unused substitute when Ange Postecoglou's men beat Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final last month. Parkinson is looking to strengthen his squad for Wrexham's first campaign in the second tier for 43 years but former Premier League boss Pulis urged Davies, 32, to play as high as possible and turn down a switch to The Racecourse, where Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are co-chairmen, if the opportunity arose. Pulis told BoyleSports, who offer the latest football odds: "To Ben Davies I'd say that you should stay as high as you could for as long as you can. "He's played quite regularly at Spurs this year and he's still in the national team and doing exceptionally well for them. "I think Craig Bellamy relies on him quite a bit as well with his experience. So I wouldn't be in too much of a rush to jump out of the Premier League at the moment. "Maybe one day, but not this year. I'd be very, very keen if I was him to have another year at least in the Premier League." Wrexham have also been linked with Fulham captain Tom Cairney who is available on a free transfer. However, the 34-year-old midfielder, who joined the Premier League outfit from Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2015, has been offered a new deal by the Craven Cottage outfit. Meanwhile, Sam Dalby, who turned down the offer of a new contract with Wrexham and is a free agent, is wanted by a number of League One clubs. The 25-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell this season at Dundee United, where he scored 15 goals in the Scottish Premiership, and the Tannadice outfit are interesting in signing the frontman on a permanent basis. A back-to-back promotion winner with Wrexham after joining from Southend United in August 2022, Dalby has also been linked with a move to Bolton Wanderers and Blackpool.
