Leslie Odom Jr. announces return to ‘Hamilton' on Broadway
It seems like King George III was right when he sang 'You'll Be Back': Leslie Odom Jr. will be returning to the Broadway stage to reprise his role of Aaron Burr in 'Hamilton,' he exclusively announced live on "TODAY" on Monday.
Odom — who won a Tony for best leading actor in a musical in 2016 for his portrayal of Aaron Burr, as well as a Grammy for his original Broadway cast recording in 2015 — will have a limited run as the character from Sept. 9 through Nov. 23, 2025.
Odom's announcement of his return comes as 'Hamilton' celebrates its 10-year anniversary on Broadway.
'Returning to 'Hamilton' is a deeply meaningful homecoming,' Odom said in a press release. 'I'm so grateful for the chance to step back into the room — especially during this anniversary moment and to revisit this brilliant piece that forever changed my life and the lives of so many.'
Odom first played Burr in the off-Broadway 'Hamilton' production and joined the original cast when the show hit Broadway in August 2015. He left the show in July 2016 at the same time fellow stars Phillipa Soo and Lin-Manuel Miranda, who's also the show's creator. This will be the first time he is reprising the role on Broadway.
He will take the stage at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre, where 'Hamilton' has been since its Broadway debut.
Odom grew particular fame from the song 'The Room Where It Happens,' which allows insight into his character's thirst for knowledge and showcases his vocal prowess.
'When I saw Leslie perform 'The Room Where It Happens' at the first act two workshop of 'Hamilton,' I knew I was witnessing a historic moment,' said Jeffrey Seller, the lead producer of 'Hamilton,' in the press release. 'How lucky we are that Leslie is returning to Hamilton and bringing his indelible Burr back to Broadway.'
Since starring in 'Hamilton,' Odom has explored film, TV and other musicals, featuring in works like 'Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery,' 'Harriet,' 'Abbott Elementary' and making his Broadway return in the revival of 'Purlie Victorious: A Non-Confederate Romp Through the Cotton Patch.'
He also released five studio albums, wrote a memoir called 'Failing Up' and co-authored a children's book with his wife called 'I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know.'

'I've kind of been on, I guess, my own little journey through health and fitness in the last few months when they approached [me],' Casey told Daily Mail Australia in April. She added that, with medication already a part of her weight loss regimen, she was looking for some extra help and direction. 'I kind of I sat with it and being already that I was already on a form of medication, I was kind of at that point where I needed that extra bit of help, she said. 'It kind of came at the perfect time, because I was trying to just bumble through life with all the other things that I knew that I picked up from other weight loss programs. Fans react after CNN's historic live airing of George Clooney's political Broadway play Good Night, And Good Luck
Fans had mixed reviews for CNN 's historic simulcast of George Clooney 's smash Broadway play, 'Good Night, and Good Luck.' CNN made history Saturday night, becoming the first network to simulcast a live Broadway show, according to the network. Clooney, 64, portrays legendary journalist Edward R. Murrow in the play, which he also wrote with his creative partner Grant Heslov, based on the 2005 film of the same name that he starred in, directed and co-wrote with Heslov. The play opened to strong reviews and earned five Tony Award nominations, including one for Best Actor for Clooney, who is facing a lawsuit over his Casamigos tequila brand. The production has also been just as much a commercial hit as it's been a critical smash, becoming the first Broadway play in history to gross $4 million in one week. While many viewers praised CNN for increasing accessibility to Broadway, some slammed the network for taking time away from important news coverage. 'Appreciate CNN airing Good Night and Good Luck. Very relevant,' one person said. 'What a treat, a great play streamed live last night,' said another. 'Really enjoyed tonight's @CNN broadcast of the Broadway production of "Good Night, and Good Luck." Really well done. I hope they rebroadcast it at some point for those who missed it,' a third person said. 'The montage at the end of 'Good Night, and Good Luck' deserves to be seen by all,' added a fourth. Some critics bashed CNN for not covering the news of the day during the broadcast time and thought the topic of the play was ironic given anchor Jake Tapper's book controversy. 'Fox News is running this stuff, meanwhile over at CNN they're Wall-To-Wall with a Broadway production of "Good Night, And Good Luck" starring George Clooney … in case you want to know who's more useful for actual news between the two,' one persons said. 'CNN choosing to broadcast Good Night, and Good Luck might be the most hilarious moment of the year so far,' said another. 'This network has become a complete joke in the era of Trump and CNN suddenly decides to broadcast a story about the importance maintaining journalistic integrity.' A third person said, 'The irony of @cnn simulcasting "Good Night and Good Luck" is surely lost on @jaketapper and a bevy of news execs.' The show's limited run wraps on Sunday after the matinee, and then many of the cast and crew will head over Radio City Music Hall for the Tony Awards. Clooney has been active in the Broadway community since his debut in March, and is regularly seen participating in the softball league. The Hollywood icon had to dye his gray hair a dark brown color for the part, which has been met with mixed reactions. He told Seth Meyers on his late night show that his wife Alma Clooney thinks the dye job is 'funny,' but will be 'glad when it's gone.'
