Your guide to the new Indiana Fever players
The Indiana Fever are red hot. But this year's team looks different after offseason roster changes brought in six new players.
State of play: With the regular season tipping off Saturday, we've put together a guide to all the new members of the revamped roster.
#25 DeWanna Bonner, guard-forward
The fifth overall pick in the 2009 draft, Bonner won WNBA titles with the Phoenix Mercury in 2009 and 2014 before heading to Connecticut in 2020.
She finished the 2024 season No. 4 on the WNBA's all-time scorers list, ninth for all-time in rebounds and third on the list of total games played at 502.
She only needs 215 more points to move up to No. 2 for points scored.
Bonner is a six-time WNBA All-Star who joins Tamika Catchings as the only other player to record 7,000 points, 3,000 rebounds and 1,000 assists in league history.
#51 Sydney Colson, guard
Colson is an established WNBA veteran who joined the Fever following three years in Las Vegas that included back-to-back championships in 2022 and 2023.
A native of Houston, she started her career with the Connecticut Sun in 2011 after attending Texas A&M University.
In addition to playing for six different WNBA teams, Colson also has experience playing in Poland and Israel.
#8 Sophie Cunningham, guard
The 13th overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft out of Mizzou, Cunningham spent six years with the Phoenix Mercury before joining the Fever in the offseason.
She shot nearly 38% from behind the arc in 2024, 17th-best in the league.
Cunningham has done commentary for the Phoenix Suns and sees broadcasting in her future as a self-proclaimed"yapper."
She provided a spark off the bench against the Mystics, forcing overtime by making two big free throws and finishing with 21 points.
#6 Natasha Howard, forward
Drafted by the Fever as the fifth overall pick in the 2014 draft, she played two seasons in Indy before being traded.
She won WNBA titles with Minnesota in 2017, Seattle in 2018 and Dallas in 2020.
Howard is a two-time WNBA All-Star who was named the league's most improved player in 2018 and best defensive player in 2019.
#21 Makayla Timpson, forward-center
Timpson, a three-time member of the ACC All-Defensive Team, was selected by the Fever with the 19th overall pick.
She ranked third in the country for blocks per game during her final season at FSU.
She is the only rookie on the Fever this year.
#11 Brianna Turner, forward-center
Turner is a University of Notre Dame grad who was part of the 2018 NCAA National Championship team. She also played for a national title as a freshman in 2015.
She holds Notre Dame records for most blocks (372) and rebounds (1,048).
She was drafted 11th overall by the Atlanta Dream in 2019 and traded to the Phoenix Mercury before the start of her rookie season.
She was named to the WNBA's All-Defensive Team in 2020 and 2021.

Caitlin Clark Sends Clear Message Before Chicago Sky Game
Caitlin Clark Sends Clear Message Before Chicago Sky Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Fever's star player, Caitlin Clark, has been out for almost two weeks. But although she hasn't been able to play games during this time, she still finds ways to support her team off the court. Advertisement The Iowa alum sustained a left quadriceps strain during a game against the New York Liberty on May 24. The team announced on May 26 that she would be sidelined for a minimum of two weeks, with her status to be re-evaluated thereafter. So far, Clark has missed three consecutive games, including the Fever's recent 85–75 victory over the Washington Mystics in the Commissioner's Cup. While the team has managed to secure a win without her, her absence has been felt. Reports indicate a significant drop in betting interest on Fever games, highlighting her impact on fan engagement. Despite not playing on the court, the 23-year-old athlete has remained actively involved with the team during her recovery, providing vocal support from the sidelines and maintaining a leadership presence. Advertisement "You still got to be that consistent voice when sitting on the bench. I try to do that as much as I can for them," Clark said. "Just trying to be there for them has been my focus, and that can kinda distracts you from not playing, when you just focus on your teammates and how I can serve them and help them." She also confirmed that her injury happened during the game against the Liberty, but couldn't pinpoint when it happened. Before her injury, Clark was averaging 19.0 points, 9.3 assists, and 6.0 rebounds per game over four games in the 2025 WNBA season. She is expected to miss the upcoming game against the Chicago Sky on Saturday, with a potential return targeted for Tuesday against the Atlanta Dream. Troubled WNBA Team Gets Bad News on Friday
Troubled WNBA Team Gets Bad News on Friday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. WNBA fans have been treated to two games on the docket on Friday night. The Paige Bueckers-less Dallas Wings host the Los Angeles Sparks in a late 9:30 pm ET tip-off, which is preceded by a matchup between the Atlanta Dream and the Connecticut Sun at Mohegan Sun Arena. Advertisement In the first game of the evening, the Sun are looking to secure just their second win in what has been a troubling start to the season. Connecticut entered Friday's matchup against Brittney Griner and Co. with a 1-6 record and in dire need of a victory. Unfortunately for the Sun, they got some bad news in the first half of the game. This came in the form of starting center Olivia Nelson-Ododa suffering a concerning ankle injury. It was later revealed that the 24-year-old would not be able to return to the game due to the ankle issue. Connecticut Sun forward Olivia Nelson-Ododa (10) looks to shootMatt Krohn-Imagn Images The Sun have yet to provide the details of Nelson-Ododa's injury as well as whether she will be forced to miss time because of the same. However, the fact that the former UCOnn star was quickly ruled out from returning to Friday's game does not exactly bode well for her status moving forward. Advertisement Nelson-Ododa is not exactly a superstar, but she has been integral to the Sky's rotation this season. In seven starts prior to Friday night, the 6-foot-5 center has averaged 9.6 points and 6.4 rebounds in 24.1 minutes per game. Rookie Kariata Diaby got the nod to start the second half for Connecticut in Nelson-Odada's place, and this unwanted turn of events could mean more playing time for the undrafted rookie.
