Jordan: Jaber border to suspend goods movement during Eid, passenger traffic unaffected
AMMAN: The movement of goods through the Jaber border crossing would be suspended during the Eid Al Fitr holiday at Syria's request, while passenger traffic will continue as usual, the Jordan Customs Department (JCD) said on Wednesday.
The department said that incoming cargo shipments from other border points to Jaber will be halted to prevent truck congestion at the crossing, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Director General of Customs Brig. Gen. Ahmad Akalik stressed that all necessary measures have been taken to manage the movement of both passengers and cargo during the holiday.
Customs staff at all directorates and border centres were instructed to be prepared and to implement procedures to facilitate the smooth movement of visitors," he added.
To cope with the expected increase in traffic, additional qualified staff have been deployed at border centres to ensure the efficient movement of travellers and goods, he said, noting that these preparations are part of a contingency plan designed to strike a balance between facilitation and compliance.
Akalik also urged the border centre directors to coordinate closely with other agencies operating at the crossings to ensure seamless operations around the clock.

Jordan: Queen Alia Airport receives 814, 819 passengers in April
AMMAN — The Airport International Group (AIG) on Wednesday announced that Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) received 814,819 passengers in April, an increase of 21.8 per cent, compared with the same month last year. The airport recorded 6,446 movements during April, recording an increase of 11.5 per cent compared with the same period last year, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. The airport handled 5,538 tonnes within air cargo traffic, recording a decrease of 14.9 per cent compared with April 2024. The QAIA, during the period between January and April, received 2,952,141 passengers, marking a growth of 11.9 per cent, compared with the same period in 2024. Aircraft movements in the first four months saw an increase by 6.9 per cent, with the airport recording 23,972 movements, while air cargo traffic saw a decrease by 16.1 per cent to reach 21,695 tonnes compared with the same period last year. Queen Alia International Airport welcomes 814,819 passengers during April 2025
Amman: Airport International Group announced that Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) welcomed 814,819 passengers (PAX) in April 2025, reflecting a significant 21.8% increase against the same period last year. Throughout the month, QAIA also recorded 6,446 aircraft movements (ACM), representing an 11.5% rise year-on-year. Meanwhile, cargo traffic reached 5,538 tons, marking a 14.9% decrease compared to April 2024. Cumulatively, from January to April 2025, QAIA received 2,952,141 PAX, indicating an 11.9% growth over the same period in 2024. ACM totaled 23,972, demonstrating a 6.9% rise, while cargo volumes stood at 21,695 tons, a 16.1% drop from the corresponding period last year. Saudi: Hail airport set for expansion to accommodate 2.2mln passengers a year
HAIL — The Ministry of Transport and Logistics is working to expand Hail International Airport with increasing its capacity to more than 2.2 million passengers annually. This is part of a comprehensive development project aimed at developing air transport infrastructure in the northern part of Saudi Arabia and enhancing the efficiency of vital facilities in the region. This was revealed by Director General of the General Administration of Privatization at the Ministry of Transport and Logistics Eng. Saud Al-Arifi while attending a dialogue session titled "Investment opportunities in the transport and logistics sector" at the Hail Forum. He said that the project represents a key pillar of the ministry's plan to transform Hail into an integrated logistics center. Al-Arifi said that the ministry, in cooperation with the Hail Region Development Authority, is also working on a massive logistics center project spanning an area exceeding 374,000 square meters. This project aims to serve supply chains and facilitate the movement of goods between various Saudi regions, he said. Work is underway on a roadside services development project to provide integrated facilities that meet the needs of travelers and support the safety and efficiency of regional roads. These projects are in line with Hail's geographical position as a central hub connecting the north, center, and west, enhancing its ability to play a pivotal role in the future of transportation and logistics services in the Kingdom. It is noteworthy that Hail International Airport is only 60 minutes away from 11 Arab capitals and 200 minutes away from Central Europe.
